It's Louis Leterrier of "Transporter 2" and "Unleashed" fame, so sayeth Comics Continuum.

After the lukewarm reaction to Ang Lee's film a few years ago, I don't know how a new Hulk movie would fare. However, I absolutely LOVED "Unleashed" and if Leterrier can bring that intensity to Hulk, then this will be worth a look-see.

Part of the problem with any comic book movie is having to tell the origin for people who don't know. I'm hoping this time around they get straight to the Hulk and some tank tossing. It might just be a mindless popcorn flick, but it could definitely be an entertaining one. Plus some of the farfetched action stuff in something like the Transporter 2 (I'm thinking the scene where Statham drives the car off a ramp then turns the car over in midair and has that hook pull off the bomb or whatever) probably won't be as criticized in a movie about a guy who turns into a giant green monster.

I think the property is best left alone at this point, to be honest. The poor performance of Ang Lee's excellent-but-flawed version means that they'll get a low, low budget for part two. I shudder to think how shoddy the Hulk FX will look. Leterrier's a good choice in terms of action, but I doubt he can bring anything in the way of character direction to the table. So, we have a slashed budget, a second-stirng director and a sure-to-be on-the-cheap replacement for Eric Bana. It just sounds direct-to-video to me.

So is Eric Bana not contractually bound to a a sequel?

He's been released from his obligation. He's been off the project for a while now, with David Duchovny and (ugh)Brendan Fraser bandied about as potential replacements.
