I just got back from tonight's ROH show in Northeast Philly, and I have to say that it was probably my favorite live ROH show so far (I've only been to about 5 or 6 though). Here are some results, oh and tonight's card is built around the finale (probably) of the ROH/CZW feud.

1. Delirious over Seth Delay- Decent short match, as Delirious moves down the card and yet is still super over with the crowd.

2. Embassy (Jimmy Rave and new member Sal Rinauro) over Colt Cabana and Jay Lethal- This match was 10 times better than I thought it would be. It was smooth tag team action and Colt Cabana was pretty funny during the match. No blown spots either, and the crowd really got into it by the end of the match.

3. Nigel McGuinness over Roderick Strong to retain the Pure title via countout- This was probably the best Pure rules match I've seen, less because of the silly Pure rules than it was the fact that Nigel and Rod just worked together fantastically. Rod was almost counted out earlier in the match, but made it in at 19. That made me actually think that Rod might take the title, but later they went back outside and this time Nigel was the one making it back in the ring before the 20 count. Again, a match that was even better than I thought it would be.

4. The Briscoes over Irish Airborne- The match was a little disjointed, but still had some great moves and the last half of the match was all over the place, but in a good way. IA is really growing on me.

5. AJ Styles over Davey Richards- I am one of the biggest AJ Styles marks, and even I admit that this wasn't a great match. They were both attacking each other's knees in the early portion, but halfway through they both gave up and started doing the flippy stuff. I was really disappointed in Davey Richards, who I understood to be a great wrestler, because he really dropped the ball tonight. Small ray of sunshine was that I bet my friend that AJ would win (this is supposedly one of his last matches for ROH for a while, so my friend thought he would be putting over Richards).

6. Bryan Danielson over Sonjay Dutt- Dutt is no slouch and acquitted himself nicely, but this match proves once again that Danielson can do no wrong. He made the match great, and even though most of us knew Dutt had no chance, AmDrag still made it believable that he might just lose. This match was helped by the ROH vs. CZW fans "feud" as well as it gave the match more heat than just a regular Danielson/Dutt match would normally get.

Intermission came finally as they set up the CZW Cage of Death.

7. ROH over CZW in a 5 on 5 Wargames style COD (Cage of Death) match. This was a really crazy brawl and the easy match of the night. Too much to talk about, although the booking was really solid. They furthered the Danielson/Samoa Joe feud while also even allowing a big feud in CZW to be furthered a bit. They had CZW's Chris Hero telling us that his mystery partner was someone he has been feuding with just because they both hate ROH MORE than they hate each other (which was Eddie Kingston). Homicide came out as ROH's mystery fifth guy and he dominated as he needed to, and he won the match after giving a Cop Killa to CZW's Nate Webb on a board of barbed wire.

After the match, Jim Cornette came out, and they let that feud continue as well (that being Homicide vs. the Authority figure in ROH).

All in all, it was a great night. My highlight though was JJ Dillon being there and me being able to finally purchase his new book and get it signed by Dillon himself. WHOO!

Sounds like a good show. Were people really dying from the heat in the venue?

Actually I'm pretty sure AJ has a match next month in ROH with Joe. So I don't think this is the last we'll be seeing of him for a while.

I'm anxious to see Danielson vs. Dutt if your recap is true. I'm a big fan of both guys and I'm glad Dutt got to wrestle Danielson at least once.

To add to the report, apparently these were Homicide's "three wishes" that requested in exchange for helping ROH:

- A match with Steve Corino
- A title match
- Bring back Low-Ki

Cornette flat-out denied the third request, leading to the confrontation mentioned in the report.

According to the storyline, Cornette has banned Low Ki from ROH for life. As it turns out, Low Ki threw a chair at Cornette backstage and knocked out his front teeth. This was during a chaotic moment that had the ROH students trying to get Necro out of the building and so they didn't know who had hurt Cornette.

They don't acknowledge any ROH fueds on TNA, do they? Or are they just stealing the idea of Cornette vs the pitbulls and doing Cornette vs LAX? Since the last I saw TNA he was forcing Cide to be in a match. Heel in ROH, face in TNA?

Anyways, sounds like a solid show and I must admit I hope the CZW fued is over so we can see more ROH fueds form.

They kinda sometimes do. Daniels and Joe acknowledged their feud in TNA which was also going on in ROH at the time. And when Aries and Strong went into TNA they talked about how they were stable mates in ROH. Those are the only instances I recall though.

It is interesting that it seems now that the ROH/CZW war is apparently over according to Gabe, that the booking seems to be positioning a face Homicide against a heel Cornette as commissioner. While Homicide is a heel in TNA with Cornette being the face DOA. It reminds me of when Shelley was feuding with Generation Next in ROH, he was regularly tagging with Roderick Strong in TNA.

So no, ROH really doesn't acknowledge TNA booking. They are basically separate universes of storytelling like DC and Marvel that might have odd little connections here and there.

Well, it's an understatement to say that 'heel authority figures v. rebel babyfaces' is overdone, but it should be a fun little feud, especially if Cornette stays in his being fair to tradional wrestlers character. It's neat that in storyline Cornette is now one of the most powerful men in wrestling (running two companies.)

So, uh, does this mean Low-Ki is coming back? Didn't him and Sapolsky have a pretty serious falling out?

Sounds like a neat main event. I'm hating the fact that ROH discontinued their VHS tape. I don't really dig paying $20 for any event and was digging the $6 VHS's. Oh well, hopefully the match will be on Youtube or Google video soon.

I was a little skeptical of the authority v rebellious worker bit, but then I remembered that Cornette has never failed to entertain me.

Also, Homicide will absolutely run with the ball here; I have no doubt about that. And at no time will he stand at a picnic table and pretend to be serviced orally while his pants are clearly visible.

So, you know, rest easy and all that.

Yeah, it sucks that the cheap option was available but isn't anymore, but if you like the company so much, and their profit margin (and ability to stay in business) is based on DVD sales, I would say ripping them off by watching it on Youtube is probably not the best way to get more ROH goodness.
