ECW Championship
RVD d. Big Show after top rope Van Dammanator and Frog Splash under "normal rules" meaning ref bump

Falls Count Anywhere Match
Test d. Tommy Dreamer after a TKO

Dueling Cane Match
Sandman d. Justin Credible after the White Russian Leg Sweep.

{intermission}
"Extreme Rules"
Sabu d. C.W. Anderson after a Arabian Face buster through a table followed by the Camel Clutch.

"Normal Rules" Mike Knoxx d. Balls Mahoney

Kelly came out to do stripping...cue Jazz who comes out and nearly pile drives her as I cheer most everybody else is booing because the bimbo didn't get to take clothes off. Cue Mike Knoxx to save Kelly then Cue Balls to lead to a match.

"Normal Rules" C.M. Punk d. Vengeance(Revamped vampire dude Mordecai)

"Normal Rules" FBI (Nunzio and Tony Mamaluke) d. Roadkill and Danny Doring

Show notes: Yes Sandman came through crowd smoking and drank about six beers circling the ring area crowd.

Heat of the night: Test...we just hate him because we do.
Pop of the night: RVD

Top Heat: Test, Show, Justin Credible
Top Pops, RVD, Tommy, Sandman, Sabu

Chants at Big Show and others during the night: Same ole Sh*t, You suck D*ck, F*ck you(insert name), ECW repeated many times, Thank You Tommy, Canada Sucks(Test), You F'N Suck, You Can't Wrestle.

OVERALL: The show didn't suck but it is a really different ECW. Tommy Dreamer acknowledged that in his promo. He also said it might be Vince running the show but it's still about the ECW Fans. Also he said DX wasn't cutting it. I guess at the house shows you can really say what you want to get the reaction or whatever the fans want. Also the security guard by the entrance ramp/door I talked to noticed Sabu come out during Kelly's striping and said, "I guess I'm lucky to work tonight." Sabu's response, "She's the only reason I signed the contract." Take that for what you will but I'm not sure how long this incarnation of ECW is going to hold out. I think it still needs some tweaking and molding just not by Vince.

Do they at least have the decency to break out "Enter Sandman" during non-televised house shows? Certainly there are less royalty issues to care about, I would think.

Would you say that Test and Big Show got the good kind of heat, or the X-Pac kind of heat? big Show's supposed to be a heel after all, at least I guess so based on the fact he's been beating the crap out of Tommy Dreamer. But if it's "if this were televised, I'd change the channel" heat, ECW could have a problem.

On the other hand if you said Test got X-Pac heat that wouldn't really come as much of a surprise to me.

Of course Kurt Angle didn't wrestle on this particular house show, but I'm curious as to how the crowd would have reacted to him. I'd imagine he'd probably get a helluva face pop, because he's awesome, but maybe he'd get the same kind of heat Test and Show got, for being a "WWE guy".

How did CM Punk look to you? I've not had the opportunity yet to see him wrestle, as I haven't ever caught an ROH show.

Also, how was the Sandman/Credible match?

How was the vampire?

I think I may be the only person in the world eager to see Test again. I look forward to his denture-obstructed promos. Come on, people, it's the return of the Wotsitalla Boot!

As someone who's never (Jericho: eeeeeever) seen CM Punk wrestle, what is the appeal? The online hype for this guy rivals that of pre-TNA Samoa Joe.

Well, he has a brilliant gimmick and has more charisma than the majority of guys in TNA and WWE. He's a straight edge punk from Chicago. It's hip, relevant and edgy. It's the type of gimmick that can appeal to a whole new breed of wrestling fan. Anyone familiar with the straight edge movement realize the fervor the kids possess. What makes it even cooler is that it's not a gimmick. It's a reflection of who he really is.

What makes Punk great is his promos and intensity. His characer really is kind of a mirror reflection of Raven (which is why their feud was so great.)

As far as his wrestling...and I haven't seen a ton of his stuff, but I have seen a decent amount...I'm sure there are others who can speak more informed on his wrestling...I'd say his mat wrestling is good, I think sometimes he tries to do too much. He IS very indy-riffic in some matches I've seen with the flips off the ropes and the springboard stuff and the big spots. It's like he'll try to pull off this awesome match...it's not like he'll blow spots, but everything doesn't look naturally crisp. His matwork, submission work and selling are pretty phenomenal. And he'll get you into every match. I don't know how he's progressed in OVW (as I don't watch it) but I imagine he's been WWE-fied some, which should help his psychology, albeit with a loss of 3/4 of his moveset.

He also has a Sandman thing going for him. His entrance to Miseria Cantore by AFI is/was seriously the coolest entrance in wrestling I've seen in a while.

I'm a big supporter of Punk. He's captivating and REAL, two of the things that 98% of the performers don't possess. Is he as good a wrestler as Joe? Not at all.

Seriously, if this were Philadelphia I'd say Test got X Pac, just no love or genuine hate...take your pick, heat and Show got normal heat. Reason being we stayed on Test the whole match, even after the match, while after RVD won we gave Show some thank you love.

Sadly still no "Enter Sandman".

CM Punk at the moment is saddled as Austin/Goldburg gimmick all in black. Black tights, black pads, black everything. If I didn't know who he was I wouldn't have supported him over Mordecai.

Vampire looks good and I think he'll be ok. The key here to Test is test all bulked up just looks totally pissed to be in arena. I think the character is going to really amped up. I also don't think the boot is going to be his finisher.

Doesn't have to be, really. I just want to see it written (spelled correctly) in a CRZ recap. But he did have the best Big Boot of any big man in wrestling. Most guys just let the opponent run into it. Test threw that foot up high. He worked that foot, yes he did. That foot carried Test to greatness. If Test ever retired, the foot could go on for another few years.

Crank up that entrance theme:
Foot, foot.
This is a foot.

Ooh I can do too. ECW in Belle Vernon, PA 7-2-06

Before the show they aired old ECW matches on an old
school projector and big white screen. As the show
began, the requisite "ECW" chant turned into an
unsolicited "Fuck You Cena." Ring announcer Justin
Roberts was booed.

1. The FBI beat Danny Doring & Roadkill. Roadkill did
a top rope dive and inadvertantly struck Doring, then
rolled into the ring and took a second rope dropkick
from Guido and a tornado DDT from Mamaluke which got
the pin. Roadkill's Amishness was over. This was a
hot match and ended up being the best thing on the
show by a significant margin, and really the only good
wrestling.

2. C.M. Punk beat Kevin Fertig the vampire by tapout
with the anaconda vice. Fertig was billed as
"Fertig." His most vampirely quality was wearing the
letter V on his tights. Punk looked pretty good, was
recognized by about half the crowd who loved him and a
total stranger to the other half.

Kelly N. Exhibitionist came out to exhibit. Her song
played, she took off her top revealing a bra and her
tights revealing women's underpanties. The three
fifteen year old girls employed as seat ushers found
this to be a rather disturbing angle. Before Kelly
could get any further Jazz came out and attacked her.
Mike Knox made the save and ran her off, leading to
...

3. Mike Knox beat Balls Mahoney with a fallaway
slam-type deal. Balls got the balls-balls-balls-whoa
for his punches. Not just the windup thing, but for
every punch and really every spot. The people came to
shout "balls." No chair usage.

4. Sabu beat C.W. Anderson via tapout with the camel
clutch after an Arabian facebuster. This was billed
as an "ECW rules" match, so I'm not sure what rules
the prior three matches had been contested under.
Pennsylvania Athletic Commission, I guess. Sabu got a
genuine superstar reaction and gave an abbreviated
version of the Sabu show building to a table spot.

A fifteen-minute intermission at 8:15, after 45
minutes of extreme action.

5. Sandman beat Justin Credible in a Singapore cane
match with the White Russian legsweep. They did a few
hard shots to the head but nothing masochistic.
Sandman did his entrance coming out of the bleachers
and then did the beer swill & can bash routine in all
four sections of the crowd. Really bad match but
crowd ate up Sandman.

6. Test beat Tommy Dreamer after a Van Testinator big
boot with Tommy holding a chair. This was a falls
count anywhere match, which entailed doing one
two-count on the floor. Test is thicker and he's back
in pants! They stalled forever in the beginning as
Test was taunted with chants of "ste-roids," "steroid
Test," and "I fucked Stacy" (likely a false claim).

7. Rob Van Dam beat The Big Show to retain the ECW
Title after a Van Daminator and frog splash. Mostly
just Rob selling, then made the comeback to win.

Show ended at 9:20, clocking in at just under two
hardcore hours. Paul Heyman was advertised but didn't
appear, unless he showed up after the main event.
Also no Stevie Richards, what a rip!

The lone good match was the opener and everything else
was sub-two stars. I thought it was a pretty bad
show. However, crowd was very positive about
everything and took to Van Dam, Sabu, and Sandman as
stars. The audience seemed to be split between old
school disfranchised ECW fans reacting to nostalgia
and current generation WWE kids who react the way they
see they're supposed to from how ECW is depicted on
TV.

From the human toll standpoint, these shows are
actually relatively safe, all things considered.
There was only one table spot, one match with canes,
and a couple matches with safe chairshots. Everything
else was just straight, gimmickless, mostly bad wrestling.
