theres a part near the end of the trailer where spiderman swing into the screen. Pause it and go frame by frame to the point where he is closest. You will see that the spider on his chest is bigger and whiter; the venom spider. You can also see a difference in the eyes of the mask and an out line of a mouth.

Are you following me around? O_O

You've both read this article, I see ...

And I'm still assuming that we won't see the full-blown Venom character until the very very end of this movie, to set up his starring role in Spider-Man 4.

I don't think the intent is to set up a fourth movie for Venom with this one. While they might leave it open, I feel this movie is going to tie things up from what they started in the first one.

I want the franchise to continue with everyone from these films, but I think Sony is waiting to see what the reception is before they make those decisions.

Question is, will Tobey be in a 4th Spidey movie? I think I read an interview sometime back that Kirsten Dunst would be out after the thrird one, but they can always work around her. But not have Tobey would be kinda cheap.

I remember hearing rumors (back before Spiderman 2 came out, I think) that they had talked about replacing Macguire with Jake Gyllenhaal, who at the time was dating Kirsten Dunst. No idea if that's true, or if he's still a viable choice, but I don't think he'd look too out of place as Peter Parker.

I honestly think that's just Dunst's bargaining chip. Hollywood hotshots and punks always end up doing things they said would never do.

Maguire has been positive about doing more. He said if Raimi was there and the story was there he'd do it again.

And honestly, if these movies keep making money and Maguire wants to keep doing them, why would Sony want to screw with that formula? Audiences clearly have a connection with these actors and their performances as these characters.

The Gyllenhaal thing, who knows how far that really got. I think it was just Sony's way of scaring Tobey Maguire, but all that got worked. I don't want to see Tobey-lite playing Spidey though, that's for sure.

Here are some set pictures.

The one of Topher Grace as Eddie Brock really does look good.

Damn, Damn, Damn! After watching the teaser for Spidey my expectations for Superman Returns were set really high. If the 60-90 second teaser was that good, Superman Returns better be at the very least, good. Thats what I was thinking about 10 minutes prior to the main feature.

Luckily for me I enjoyed Superman. Singer brought back the SUPER in superhero to film. However when I left the theater not only was I thinking about what a great job Singer did but hot damn I can't wait for Spidey! I think I am more excited about Spidey 3 than I was for the first of Raimi's renditions.

Hasn't the decision already been made that there will be six Spider-Man movies total (assuming box office numbers stay consistent, which they almost assuredly will)?

And besides, won't the script be a little "cluttered" if Spidey has to deal with the Sandman and the new Green Goblin AND Venom to boot? I mean, the "suit rebelling against Parker" storyline is already there, so there would really be no room for the actual battle with Brock, no?

Venom IS in this movie. I promise you. Harry's the ongoing subplot, Sandman's the major muscle bugging Spidey from the start of the movie, and Venom's the big climax.

And there's been no decision made about the franchise past this movie. Dunst is outta there without question, and Maguire and Raimi are question marks. There's no set-up here, because there's no concrete fourth movie.

I'm pretty sure that, if Eddie Brock is in the movie and the black Spider-Suit is in the movie, then Venom will not only be in the movie, but that there will be a big fight at the end between the two.

The main villain, moreso than Sandman or Brock, appears to be the black suit itself and its effects on Parker.

Venom most likely isn't in the teaser because the Venom CGI footage hasn't been fully rendered yet. Plus, it makes for a better teaser.

In movies, you have to deal with actors, politics, and writer/directors collaborating for every big production. The X-Men franchise, as successful as it is, didn't keep going, and it's not just because of Singer, but because it's hard to get Halle Berry, Wolverine, etc. together every 3 years. People don't want to always collaborate with each other for the rest of their careers.

I'm sure they want to do that. But I like to think Sony is smart enough to know what happens to franchises when they replace the major creative forces and recast the main characters. Basically . . . not very much good.

Did you feel Batman Begins was cluttered with Carmine Falcone, Ra's Al Ghul, and The Scarecrow? Not to mention the entire origin of Batman/Bruce Wayne?

No I don't think it will. This is NOT X-men 3, which put even more characters in and made the movie even shorter. Which was freaking ridiculous and stupid.

I agree with you. I don't think there will be any problem with there being too many villians. Batman Begins showed that it can be pulled off.

The costume designer(s) on these movies deserves a huge raise. Aside from those Gwen Stacy photos, all of the characters look like they've walked directly off the pages. Case in point: Eddie Brock's leather jacket and outfit and the Sandman's green striped top. Out of all the comics based movies from "the big two" the Spider-Man films (in look and feel particularly) are probably the truest rendition of their comic counterpart.
