Anyone see this yet? We saw it last night at midnight and there was a damn-near riot from the fanboys. The movie left me angry, sad (at what the movie COULD have been), and in a bad mood all around.

Juggernaut was great, though. Gotta give them that.

Were people rioting out of Phantom Menace-esque rage and anger? Or what it just because they were excited to see the movie.

Basically I feel the same way. But you know what? This is what I expected. I knew Fox would flush the movie down the toilet after Bryan Singer and Tom DeSanto left.

Look at Fox's track record. They like to rush all their comic book movies. They rushed X-men 3 ridiculously just to get it out before Superman Returns. That's probably the reason they spent somewhere in the ballpark of 220 million dollars on this.

But instead we get a short, rushed piece of crap. Just like Daredevil. Just like Elektra. Just like Fantastic Four.

Why does Fox try so hard to ruin their franchises? To drive them into the ground? It's not the first time. They set up X-men to fail. They killed whatever chances Daredevil had with a franchise with Fantastic Four. They are doing it again with Fantastic Four. And now X-men 3, and X-men is like their best franchise.

Tom Rothman should be fired I think.

I guess Fox doesn't care as long as they still have Ice Age and still milk several movies out of that.

Have you seen X3 yet? Are you really comparing it to bombs like Daredevil, Elektra, and F4?

Yes I have. Also, Daredevil wasn't a bomb. The movie was still very profitable, and it did enough to apparently warrant an Elektra movie (which no one wanted to see at all).

Also Fantastic Four still made $150 million in the US and $320 million WW, enough to warrant a sequel in 2007.

And yes I am. It's about as bad, short, and rushed as those movies.

And just like Fantastic Four and Daredevil, X-men 3 is getting bad and lukewarm reviews. X-men 3 is going to be the first X-men movie that will most likely have a ROTTEN TOMATO meter rating.

I literally heard someone drop the f-bomb multiple times because they were so disgusted with the movie. It's not so much as a bad movie as it is just an exercise in tedium. It was not exciting, and the emotionals parts didn't even make me care, other than saying "WTF are they thinking? This is stupid."

At least Fantastic Four got some of their characters right. X3 feels...robotic. Wolverine even seems muted in this one.

From a non fanboy perspective (and someone who read some of the comics casually when I was younger), this to me was the best movie in the series. I saw a midnight screening last night. I thought they had Phoenix down. Beast was excellently portrayed. Wolverine seemed more like the character in the comic book than how he was in the last few movies.

I'll agree that it was a little choppy, but I didn't walk out of there disappointed at all. the final battle alone at the end made this movie spectacular.

It's hard to go more into it and say what I loved without totally spoiling it. But I was not disappointed at all. Hell, I was even impressed since I wasn't expecting much from the moment I heard Ratner was doing this. Maybe that's why I enjoyed it so much.

Dear Simon Kinberg & Zak Penn,

Spoiler Below: Highlight text to read
The Juggernaut is not a mutant. Why was he made a mutant, and why was Psylocke killed off with "Callisto" and the quill guy when the Phoenix goes wild? Thanks for ruining two of my favorite characters.

I hate you two with a passion that knows know bounds.

Best friends forever,

Zeruel

Can anyone spoil the extra scene after the credits for me? In spoiler tags for someone who doesn't want to read it. My girl and I were so disgusted with this flick that we had to leave when the credits started rolling. Wikipedia says there is a scene to wait for.

I just saw this, and I have to say that in the end, I'm largely indifferent towards the movie. I mean, they deviated so damn much from the comic book, its hard to think of these as the same characters as in the books. I guess if they figured this was going to be the last X-Men movie, there was no need to save any of the characters, so everyone was on the chopping block.

At least they kept clearing out people so Halle Berry could get more dialogue...

Which mutant was supposed to be Psylocke? I must've missed her. Was Callisto the one with the shockwave claps? What was the name of the speedster that kept fighting Storm? Edit: For the next post, thanks Zeruel!

Grammar was suprisingly decent as Beast. Though his 'stars and garters' didn't quite have the right weight, it was a nice scripting touch.

The pace of the movie felt too fast. It seemed like things kept happening, and there wasn't time to let it really sink in. I wouldn't have minded another 10 minutes or so, spread throughout the movie, to give weight to some of the events that occured.

I can't help but wonder if the cure doesn't require ongoing injections, hence Magneto's successful attempt at wiggling the rook.

Also, was moving the Golden Gate Bridge really necessary? It was a powerful effect, but couldn't Magneto have transported his army another way?

I could really nitpick the movie if I so choose, but its not worth it. I suppose it was a nice wrap-up to the X-Men movie arch, but not as great as it could have been. Though I LOVED the post-credit revelation.

Arclight had the shockwaves. She looks too young to be her comic book counter-part. She was a Vietnam vet.

This "Callisto" was a merging of Callisto and Caliban (mutant detection powers).

(From the Pittsburgh Post Gazette film review)

>And one word of advice: Don't dare leave before the seemingly endless credits finally do end, as most people did at a recent screening. They missed a scene that hints of mutant happenings to come.<

Is the "this movie sucks" the talk of comic book fanboys, or that of actual movie fans?

I'll be honest, I know nothing about the comics...absolutely nothing. The first two movies, however, were great.

This the first X-men movie to get a rotten rating on Rotten Tomatoes. So its movie fans as well.

As for comic fans and movie fans, I'm both. And the movie sucks. Brett Ratner and everyone else responsible for this disgrace to the X-men franchise sacrificed character development and the integrity of the story for action and "ADD FRENETIC PACING!"

This movie was so rushed they didn't have time to finish Colossus. They didn't even have time to give Jean the PHOENIX EFFECT.

I get out to see about one movie a year. X3 was my movie for this year (old comic geek).

I was really disappointed with this film, given the awesomeness of the first two. Sadly, I didn't stay until after the credits, so I don't know if that would have made me feel better leaving the theatre.

The massive changes in the cast (by death or de-mutation) seemed unnecessary. It also seemed like there were way too many characters in this one. Why did they even bother with Angel?

On the plus side, Kelsey Grammer did an incredible job as The Beast. I don't recall having seen Grammer in a movie role before, but he didn't seem out of place amongst the big boys. Great seeing him kick ass during the fight scene.

I don't really understand the dislike for this film. It's solid. It could've been great, but given that FOX went into a "beat Superman Returns" hustle with the release date, it's a miracle that the film turned out good.

Put me in the sort of indifferent column. Juggy, Beast, Kitty and Colossus were well done and despite not having the Phoenix Effect, I liked what they did with Jean without resorting to having the cosmic entity come into play. In the end, the lead-in to the final fight and the fight itself were satisfying, but unless there was a good reason to

knock off Cyclops
, that sort of kept it from a firm thumbs up from me.

For the second movie in a row, Rogue is criminally underutilized. On the other hand, Iceman and Pyro really picked up the pace from X-2.

I didn't know about the post-credit clip, but if my wife and her best friend decide to go, I'll see it again with them and stick around.

Also I hadn't considered that the purple-haired mutant was supposed to be Psylocke, mainly because I didn't see her do anything that fit the character.

Oh, and did anyone spot Jubilee in the background anywhere? She was in the first two, easily spottable with by being an Asian girl with the big hoop earrings.

I'm someone who never read the comics, and I thought the movie wasn't as good as the first two, but still worth seeing.

I took with me somebody who is into the comics, and she felt the same way. Not as good as the first two...could understand the anger of those into the comics...but still worth seeing.

There was an Asian girl in the front row of Professor X's class about ethics (the one where he saw the clouds come in). I didn't notice any impressive earrings.

This is where I think we didn't watch the same damn movie, because I enjoyed the hell out of this. With the shock ending and post-credit scene, it ties itself together perfectly and leaves room for more if desired. The movies don't look exactly like the comics. Boo. Hoo.

Nearly everybody I heard or read talking about this movie were expecting Catwoman levels of bad because of Ratner's involvement. Screw 'em. This is exactly why I don't rely on critics or other people's opinions to see a movie. Film made you angry? Nearly walked out? Gimme a break...

Best of the trilogy, easy. 9/10.

PS: I thought Marrow was supposed to be a girl...
