Elliott - Ok first song, but kinda boring. Not bad, not great, not gonna win him votes. Second song was a horrible pick for him and hurt his chances. Last song he rocked hard and was a great way to close.

Kat - First song, yet again, she oversang by a mile. Had she kept it simple there would be no doubt she was in the final. Next....not sure what to say here. She did do a good job, but it wasn't "a moment" in my view. Not because I don't like her, just because I thought it was a bit overdone as well. Not nearly as much as the first but not the best performance of the whole season as the judges were saying. Third song I actually thought was her best even though the judges hated it. I like her better when she gets moving a bit. She needed to be really good to get back in this thing. She came close.

Taylor - For the first time in a while I enjoyed him. He sounded a lot like Bruce and that was a perfect song for him. The dancing fit for once. Very nice. His other two were solid as well. I say no chance he's not in the final two.

So Taylor is a sure thing, and .....crap I have to say Kat's in as well. I really want Elliott, but he just didn't wow like last week and Kat already had a lot of people voting for her independant of her performances. Since she put on a decent showing she'll move on. Really sucks. Saw that bitchy side come out quite a bit again tonight I thought.

Dialidol currently has Kat less than a point ahead of Elliott, which is not good for him. She usually finishes better than the results on there show. Damnit.

I have a bad feeling that I will be so wrong.

I had Katharine as the best in the first two, and Elliott the best in the third. Second best, Taylor for song one, Elliott for song two, and Katharine for the third song. Worst, Elliott for the first, and Taylor for the remaining two songs.

We, as a family, are getting so annoyed by Taylor's act. In fact, at the end of TALT, I thought he was going to fall into the band.

Is there any song that Paula can not dance to? Stay off the caffeine.

Want to go: Taylor
Ends up going: Likely Elliott

If Taylor gets knocked out, I'll likely drink tomorrow night in happiness.

3 singers, 3 songs each and 3 more chances to watch Paula Abdul make a fool of herself on national TV - and that just never gets old.....Clive Davis chooses a song, the judges choose a song and our Final 3 each get to choose a song.

Elliott - sounded a little weak & nervous on the first song - maybe the pressure is starting to get to him - not wild about his 2nd song either - not enough snap or pop to the lyrics - it's not the type of song that you can croon or schmooze - 3rd song was his best - looked comfortable and sounded good but there was just something missing in it for me - maybe not enough "Ray-ness" or something. Overall an average performance on a night when he needed to go deep.

Kat - "Hi. My name is dunk and I'm a Kat-a-holic." Now that I have that out of the way, 1st song was not good in my opinion - it allowed her to go on runs that she didn't need and she didn't sing the chorus - (as an aside to Randy, this was Clive's choice so you score no points and probably got her some sympathy votes for criticizing the song choice - enjoyed listening to you trying to suck up to the boss when you got called on it) you do have to give Kat credit though for changing up the arrangement so it didn't cry "karaoke" - 2nd song - Simon lobbed her a big old fat one and Kat almost delivered - no way was this a "Kelly Clarkson Big Band Night Moment" but it was very good - Simon was right, too bad it wasn't the last song because the 3rd song was a mess - way too much vocal styling and Randy went right for the jugular by saying she is no Ella - good thing she wore a short skirt & boots because that helped to make up for the shortcomings of the song. Hope her fans were calling.

Taylor - I half expected the Idol producers to get Courtney Cox Arquette to jump up on stage to dance with Taylor during his 1st song - never much liked the song and didn't think that Taylor added anything to it - 2nd song - another lob that bounces off the wall when it should have been out of the park - he cheats us of the final falsetto note but makes up for it with the Belushi-like facial expressions - 3rd song - perfect song for Taylor but he absolutely ruined it at the ending - no matter, Taylor is headed to the Kodak Theater next week.

So who's going home ? Taylor is clear, Elliott had 3 average performances and Kat had one average, one great and one mess. History tells us that a woman will go home as that has been the case in each of the first 4 seasons but I think tonight that Elliott has finally come up short. He will make some nice coin in the adult contemporary market but he won't be in the Final 2.

It will Taylor vs Kat and I am afraid that no matter what happens, Taylor will be your next American Idol.

Personally I thought Clive Davis's choices were awful. The song he picked for Elliot was boring, the song he picked for Katharine is in that class of songs that you shouldn't attempt because you can't do it as good as the original and Bruce Springsteen for Taylor?? I think Elliot got hosed again in the judges picks but Randy and Simon did a good job choosing songs for Taylor and Katharine and I think that's probably the difference in the voting. Taylor and Katharine in the finals.

We must be sharing one brain today, though I like Taylor a lot.

I think Taylor winning is a foregone conclusion.

Though I'm not a Katharine fan, I like how she stuck up for herself when they were nagging her about her first song choice.

I like Taylor for the most part, I just wish he would say "Soul Patrol" about 8,539 times per show.

Anyone else catch the guys from Fuel sitting in the audience?

Quick & Easy-

Elliot- I still love his voice, but he didn't step up to the plate last night. He was good last night, but was it good enough to be in the Finals-- maybe not.

Taylor- Karaoked his permances last night. I love "Try a Little Tenderness", but I didn't LOVE his performance of it. It was just good.

Katherine- She was 'eh'. I thought whomever arrainged "I Believe I can Fly" for her must have worked with Whitney Houston because that was a Whitney arrangement. I didn't hate her performance of it though. I don't think her "Somewhere Over the Rainbow" performance copied Kelly's Big Band Night, but I did see shadows of Fantasia's "Summertime" performances.

I would like to see Elliot stay, but based on his performances last night and AI history, he's going home.

History is that when they get down to the last 3 singers, whoever performs FIRST, goes home the next night. After checking recaps of each seasons 'last three' episode, the first one, every time, went home the next night.

So, I don't think he's going to make it tonight.

Tell you what if the voting had happened last night after they showed the "going home" stuff instead of when it did, Kat would sooooo be gone already. I know I've been a kat hater for a while and after seeing that footage my wife, who was on the fence before, was like "ok yeah you're right she's a snobby little rich girl who loves herself."

Plus Elliott's video was just sad to watch cause you knew he was going home that night. Poor guy, I hope he gets to cut an album of some kind and earn some money off this. Seems like a pretty decent person.

Wow. Usually for this week, there are the two who are really good, and then the third was a third wheel, or in the second group. This year, it was so close. I thought Taylor was going to blow the others out. When they showed the percentages, I was pretty surprised. Hopefully, this will ease the talk of Taylor winning it all this week. I have a feeling that one performance is going to be the difference, because it was so close.

I'm not really a Kat hater, because it's just a singing contest, but I understand how her trip could have rubbed people the wrong way. Especially after the clips when Ryan was asking her about it. I believe in one point, she said, "Well, there weren't THOUSANDS of people welcoming me home, but it was fun." Hah! Her entire high school was there cheering for her and there seemed to be mobs everywhere.

Elliott will be fine, though. I think his voice is unique enough that people who normally wouldn't buy that type of music will buy anything Elliott puts out after seeing him on AI. At least I would.

Kat's much smaller "homecoming" crowd just goes to show how jaded the LA Metro area is when it comes to celebrity. It just isn't as big a deal there as it is in other parts of the country - like Birmingham & Richmond.

Personally I think the percentages they showed were BS and are just being used to try and hype even higher ratings for the finale next week. As much as I like Kat, and I will but her inevitable CD, I think that competition has really turned into Taylor's to lose. He saw how much it means to everyone back home and I think that pressure won't effect him at all. It will be an interesting 2 shows next week.

Gotta love Elliot ... seems very humble and gives props to his Mom ...

That's why I hated it that they showed Kat's Mom cheering when they announced his elimination.

Elliot seems like a pretty cool guy. I thought he handled his elimination with great class and I know someone will sign him to a record deal.

I thought the McPhee's reaction to her being safe should not have been shown. That was a bad mistake by FOX. They have every right to be happy that she is going to be in the finals, but I also was troubled by their reactions. It should have been a little more subdued. Kinda like when your kids play Little League. You don't jump up and down like animals when they win; it's disrespectful to the team that loss. You applaud and tell everyone they did well. Then you celebrate later.

But, I wish him well and I'm certain he'll be all right after this.

The McPhee reaction shot of Elliott's elimination seemed pretty ill-timed, yes. But how loathsome of Katherine's mom to be pumped that Elliott was going home. Some some class lady, come on, you're my age!! At least on screen, Katherine seemed sympathetic about it. But off camera, I would guess the apple doesn't fall far from the tree.

Well, the execs of AmIdol wanted another Kelly Clarkson.

Looks like they're going to get the closest thing. Pity she can't stay within a song to save her life.

Esp. after seeing the home footage, we knew Elliott was going home, no matter how bad Kat needed to. And now she's going to beat out Taylor for the Idol crown.

I can't imagine that a single person who voted for Elliott this week would vote for Katharine next week. Taylor, that's another story. There's no point in even having a final show, if you think about it.

I smell shenanigans afoot!

My guess is that the 'powers that be' believe that in the finals, Elliot would have easily beaten out Kat, but if it's between Taylor and Kat, the kids will vote for her rather then Taylor, making Kat this years 'winner'.

I know conspiracy theories are all the rage now, but how's this for one:

Part 1: Taylor's been the most entertaining person on the show for the entire season, so he got a lot of votes.

Part 2: Kat's got some huge knockers, and a lot of people would rather vote for an incredibly hot girl than a nerdy looking guy regardless of how well they sing.

Maybe the two that made it in made it in because sometimes a voting competition really does come down to votes. If you want to complain about how stupid voters were in the US, hey, it wouldn't be the first time that topic's come up, but it sounds a whole lot better than claiming that the ONLY way someone you liked would get voted out is if everything was fixed. And by saying that the show is fixed, aren't you then claiming that the only reason Elliot made it as far as he did was because he was forced in over better people? Or is the ONLY fixed week the one where your favorite goes?

A lot of Americans thought that style meant more than substance as far as quality of music goes. This is nothing new. Ask Britney.
