The Padres won't be able to get away with one good month. The key is they will have to prove they can win inside the division. Their horrible stretch in April came against Colorado, Arizona and the stinking Dodgers. That won't do.
Although it is still early, the three-game set starting against the Snakes tonight is pretty big, and the next homestand is absolutely HUGE, with Atlanta, Saint Louis and Colorado coming to PETCO Park.
The difference this season is obvious. The defense is superb. The starting pitching has been excellent, especially Chan Ho Park and Chris Young. The bullpen is doing well.
