The best part of the episode was the level of consistency/continuity it had with older eps. We got: Creed being Creed, Kevin following his dream, Jim teasing Pam about not following her dream, the ongoing Toby/Michael feud, Michael being Michael, Michael the womanizer, Dwight the sychophantic lapdog, Dwight & Angela's awesome relationship, Oscar being Oscar, Phyllis & Bob Vance, Ryan & Kelly, and finally the best last five minutes of any show this year.

New episodes begin September 28th. The wait begins.

No Office or Earl next week, as folks get TWO HOURS of Will & Grace. Earl/Office returns on May 25th with:
-8pm: Earl (Didn't Pay Taxes)
-8:30pm: Office (Halloween)
-9pm: Earl (Dad's Car)
-9:30pm: Office (Sexual Harassment)

She did kiss him back though. Hands in his hair, all that.

Thing is, when they pulled back, I got the sense that it wasn't what Jim hoped it was going to be.

I know that some fans want them together, and surely the network will force their hand. But it's hard not to think the show will suffer for it (c.f. every other sitcom ever).

I've seen almost every episode, but still don't understand Michael's pure hatred for Toby. Did something happen between them? It's almost uncomfortable to watch.

I liked the telekenisis prank on Dwight, but how did they know he was going to say "coat rack"? What if he said move that stapler, or move that phone?

Dwight's oh-so-late "Jan is here" warning was a highlight.
As was Pam allowing Michael to answer the phone once before actually putting the call through because the second time usually goes better.

It will be interesting to see where they go with Jim/Pam in Season 3. If a Season 2 DVD release date is announced, someone please post here. Thanks.

I don't think Michael hates Toby. I think he's found out that Toby is someone he can bully and pick on and Toby won't fight back. Therefore Michael exploits this for all it's worth.

Count me in the "too soon" column for Jim and Pam. Great episode, though.

It's because Michael has no real power over Toby. As the HR rep, Toby reports directly to corporate. Plus, Toby ususally is the first to call Michael on anything stupid.

I don't think the coat rack prank was pre-planned. As soon as Dwight picked the coat rack, Pam knew she could help Jim make Dwight look stupid.

I love how Michael always brings up Tobey's divorce, especially in season 1 with the hot purse selling chick.

Yes but that was Jim's kiss. After they pulled back from each other is when we would see if Pam would then iniate a kiss back. Jim can't try to kiss her again at that point. He has to wait and see what she does. And that is why the break at that point was perfect. We know that she liked the kiss but we don't know her reaction - kiss him back or push him away.

I think it goes all the way back to the Diversity Day episode, too, when they were walking into the meeting and Toby said something funny and Michael kicked him out. Toby's funny, Michael's not. Then last week's episode was about how people vent their problems to Toby, and Michael had to jump in and try to take over that spot. And Toby is untouchable, like you said. Michael wants to be Toby in numerous ways, but he can't, so he hates him.

As a bit of an aside, do you folks see NBC doing:

[A] Loading up Thursday nights with established comedic awesomeness in the form of Scrubs/-?-/Earl/Office, and placing a new show in the -?- slot, all while all-but-abandoning Tuesday nights.

or

[B] Attempting to load up both Tuesdays & Thursdays with comedy, keeping Scrubs & Earl/Office where they are and building around them.

I'm leaning more towards A, but I can see NBC trying SOMETHING on Tuesdays.
