Fresh off the TiVo.

A truly intense episode that spotlighted the villains. In fact, there were no heroes whatsoever until the final minute. If the comics are emphasizing on Villains United, this episode could have easily been called Villains Imploded. The highlights?

-For all the toiling and headaches, all it took was Tala's magic to unlock Brainiac's location. Seems he left a piece of himself in the rubble of the battle from Twilight (from WAAAAAAAAAAY back in season two of JL).
-Lex exercises his role as dictator and has the Society turn the "Hall of Doom" into a spaceship.
-Tala unlocks Grodd. When he confronts Lex, the Society divides into two factions and an all-out slugfest ensues.
-Highlight of the episode: Toyman vs. Killer Frost.
-Grodd tries to unleash his mental powers, but Lex turns the tables. Taking the advantage, Lex shoots Grodd out of the airlock (!), essentially putting an end to the big ape for good. And what an emphatic way to go!
-With Grodd defeated, the villains that took his side are iced, literally, by Killer Frost. Couldn't see everyone who was done in, but I definitely noticed the Parasite. Too bad, as I really liked him.
-Lex reaches his destination, but time is temporarily stopped by Metron, who pleads with Lex to stop. Lex tells him to buzz off and proceeds. Unfortunately, he finds DARKSEID~! And HE'S been enhanced by Brainiac!
-Darkseid resurfaces on Apokalyps and ends the civil war, focusing their attention on Earth.
-Lex arrives on Earth with the villains to warn the Justice League: Darkseid is coming!

It's a great set up for the final episode. It wasn't until the villains were getting offed that I truly began to realize that this series was coming to a close. Next week will be a sad one.

R.I.P. Grodd. And kudos to Powers Boothe for his absolutely fantastic voice work. He brought life to this big ape.

Lots of people who could have whipped Frost's behind, including THE SHADE.

Well, to be fair (or un-fair, depending on how you look at it), she did get in a major cheap shot.

Star of the episode was, surprisingly, Toyman. Showed him as way more of a threat than he's ever been before. I call major bullshit on Killer Frost offing the Shade, though, and that was a rough way for Grodd to go. Next episode looks to be totally awesome, with an all-out war between Apocolypse and the entire stable of DC heros and villains (almost like they're doing their version of Our Worlds at War). Too bad they couldn't get an hour to finish the series off. Man, I miss this show already, and it's not even gone yet.

Was a great episode. The exchange between Luthor and Grodd was great. "It could have gone the other way..." Haha. Lex rules...

"No. But why speak ill of the dead?"
Wow. Ice water in those veins!

And I wasn't upset with the easy way this version of the Shade got offed, simply because it's clear that this is a different universe. I mean, I'm pretty sure that the animated Shade wasn't even British (I didn't hear a trace of accent in his earlier appearance).
