I've just ordered a DVD of ROH's show from 10/05 featuring Samoa Joe v. Kenta Kobashi. This will be my first ROH experience.
Has anyone see this show? Outside of the main event, which I've heard raves about, what other matches can i look forward too?
I must admit I am impatient to see this product for the first time. I really don't know what took so long.

I was there and then I bought the DVD. It's as good as you've heard.

Beyond the main event, in simplest terms...

Nigel McGuinness never fails to delight, and this time he puts the pure title up against Jay Lethal, who you know if you watch TNA. Nigel is a fantastic heel who bends the Pure Wrestling rules perfectly.

Yung Dragons EXPLODE! as James (Noble) Gibson takes on a debuting Jimmy (Akio) Yang. This didn't quite seem to get going, but was better than much anything they did in WWE.

I thought the Ricky Reyes stuff was kind of a waste of time.

And you'll see Homicide as he can really go, Colt Cabana at his Cabana-est. In fact, I think it's all worth watching once. But a segment or two maybe only once depending on your tastes.

Enjoy!

Azrieal, Matt Sydal, and Christopher Daniels also had a hot triple threat match.

I got the tape for $6 from the ROH website. I love ROH . And God bless them for their frequent merchandise sales.

The Homicide/Evans match is actually pretty good. It made me realize how underrated he really was, since he kept a match with Evans (who can be very spotty) pretty grounded.

Strong/Rave and the post-match stuff is also a lot of fun, IMO. And you can't leave out Whitmer/Jacobs vs. Rinauro/Mamaluke, which was pretty sweet.

Couldn't agree more. I saw a good number of people online raving about this match, and I just didn't see it. For me, it was probably the second least interesting match on the card, behind the continuation of the "Ricky Reyes beats up a jobbers from the ROH school" angle that got real old real quick (for me at least).

I remember seeing Homicide for the first time at "Honor Invades Boston" damn near four years ago and writing him off as a poor man's New Jack, which is an easy mistake to make.

But damn if he isn't a hell of a wrestler who can also brawl like a sonofabitch. A better comparison would be a Latin Arn Anderson.

I recently watched this card and it is pretty solid up and down. Joe vs Kobashi is a must see but it might not be a good idea to go right to that match because you might end up not watching anything else! This is one of those matches where the crowd makes it that much more special and I absolutely love Joe's interview post-match.
