Yeah, I loved Wilbon's suggestion that they play "It's So Hard to Say Goodbye (to Yesterday)" to try and get Tony crying.
On a serious (and selfish) note, I hate that my weekday mornings are going to be a drag without the show.
Monday's gonna suck even more now...

That Rat Bastard Son of a Bitch Colin Cowherd was just bragging on the air a few months ago about just having signed a contract extention with ESPN for a few more years.

I've sworn him off all together for about a month now and I dont miss him a bit. I just have to remember to turn my radio back to Dan Patrick at 10am so I dont miss the start of his show. Occasionally, I'll forget and miss the first 20 minutes or so. Other than that, I dont feel like I'm missing anything by not listening to his crap ass show.

-- Tk is leaving to start his MNF prep, which is more about adjusting his body clock then studying football. He continues to proclaim that he will be back after football season to radio (but not saying where).

-- ESPN radio is now unlistenable except for the hour each day with DP and KO and Bob Valvano's weekend overnight show. It's nothing but hosts reading billboards and repeating the same topics every hour over and over.

-- TK is being replaced by Sports Reporters, which is moving from afternoon drive to mid-days. So, if you like Czabans's Fox show, it much of the same, only with Steve and Andy keeping each other in moderaton.

I like Cowherd better than Mr.Tony anyway. At least Cowherd is passionate, while Tony K. acts like he doesn't even like sports. He also acts like he is too good for everyone else - kinda like Imus.

Tony's show has a lot of topics that don't interest me at all; golf, local DC politics, washington post gossip, talking about him getting a deal at a local drugstore, shopping at bagel city, etc.

He also bows out of the controversial topics: Duke Lacrosse, Palmeiro's suspension, steriods,etc.

His show is only good if he has a good guest like Wilbon or a topic like the new owners of the Nationals. I'm surprised his show ever got ratings.

well, he had Abbie Lowell on at least twice to talk about the Duke case, as well as bringing it up every week when Feinstein was on. Not sure how that is avoiding the topic.

The whole point of the show is "a sports show for people who care about more than sports." That's not going to be please everyone.

Really, there's not part of me that can even stomach Cowherd nowadays. And now he's polluting ESPN Sportscenter on Sunday mornings (and possibly other days?) with his "Spanning the Globe" segment that takes place entirely within the U.S.

A few weeks back, Cowherd was talking about how badly run the Saints were, because they were looking at Culpepper, and how superior the Dolphins were, because they were looking at Drew Brees. He went on one of his (scripted) diatribes about how Benson and the Saints "just don't get it" and how Nick Saban is a genius who can spot talent. And it sorta made sense.

After Brees winds up in New Orleans, and Culpepper winds up in Miami, he changes his tune about both players. Brees is the "safe" choice for the know-nothing Saints, and Saban is a genius because he takes players with troubled pasts like Culpepper and can mold him into a complete player. He turned Ricky Williams' career around, right?

And that's when I pretty much turned him off for good. Thank God for satellite radio, where there are dozens of sub-par sports talk shows to choose from. Here in State College, we only get Cowherd followed by Jim Rome, so my ears just about bleed when I'm in the work van.

Cowherd has also been chastised, FWIW, by ESPN's Ombudsman, former wash post editor George Solomon.

The first was the Eddy stuff.

I think the second was telling the story about being in the hotel room with a female producer.

Bobby V is all over the radio here in Louisville. He hosts a morning drive show on WKRD 790AM and occasionally appears in his ESPN capacity on a rival station 1570/1600 WSZ as well as his overnight show. I'm more of a fan of his not for his brother or his radio work, but in that he coached at my alma mater.

I loathe Cowherd, and not just for the Eddie stuff, but for his shameless suck-ups to DisnEspn when they have new movies come out. When Chicken Little came out, I turned it immediately as he droned on and on about how much him and his kids loved it. Yeeech.
