HD-DVD and blu-ray aren't going to take off at all. Just like Divx and disposeable DVD's. | Mr. Boffo

I mean, if you've got an HDTV (which are slowly becoming more and more common), then why wouldn't you want to watch your DVDs in the same high quality format? As to whether it will be HD-DVD or BluRay, I have no idea. That's the biggest problem. No one is going to want to spend this kind of money on a player that's going to be obsolete in 5 years. | Zeruel

And you're surprised? The porn industry is always on the forefront of new technology. They will be the first to admit that if it wasn't for them, most new technologies wouldn't take off. If that's true or not, I don't know, but sex does sell. | Mike Zeidler

| #5 Posted on 27.4.06 2236.40 Reposted on: 27.4.13 2245.36 | And there's always the consideration that film stock has a much higher resolution than even HD TVs can replicate, so why not go with one of the better known films (especially on the coat-tails of that documentary last year) in the industry (porn, not film)
It's the same reason that some of the first programming on the HD networks were shows from the 60s and 70s. They were shot on film, so a new generation (or really the same generation grown up) could ogle Charlie's Angels in a new format. | Brian P. Dermody

| #7 Posted on 28.4.06 1350.13 Reposted on: 28.4.13 1350.13 | I'm a film geek. If it's put on a screen in front of me, 99 times out of 100, I'll watch it. Good, bad... REALLY bad, it doesn't usually matter to me because I can usually find SOMETHING in it to make me want to see it.
This said, I see no reason for yet ANOTHER next generation format.
Seriously, I've seen THE EVIL DEAD on a movie screen, video, laserdisc, beta, DVD, black and white TV, color TV (small and large), my computer monitor, and on a high def television... it's still the same fucking movie.

I read somewhere once that one of the reasons that VCRs improved so quickly in the 80's was porn movies. Because you had to do so much rewinding and fast forwarding, they had to make VCRs and tapes that could handle the wear and tear. Dont know how much truth is in that, but it makes sense. | ALL ORIGINAL POSTS IN THIS THREAD ARE NOW AVAILABLE |
