Lyger saying that he has never done a cage match before in his entire career and doesn’t want his first cage match to be some meaningless throw away undercard match. This is almost as cool as Mil refusing to rehearse matches in front of cameramen.
Weird IMPACT as well the matches make the top side…Although by end of show I was really frustrated with the constant commercial breaks in the middle of matches:
- Enjoyed the joined in progress Joe vs. Daniels match. Hope it doesn’t mean they’ll turn Joe v. Sabu into a three way. Samoa Joe looked really great in this as he will super sell for people (the bump for the hurricarana was especially cool) and when he went on offense it was all about these bursts of energy. I disliked one of the Daniels near falls but other than that this was pretty good.
-Is there a reason that Team 3D is announced as from New York City and not Duddleyville? Something odd about faces being announced from New York City, when did that become a face hometown? Liked the streetfight. Once in a while Bubba still looks like he hasn’t figured out how to run the ropes in the six sided ring. Harris continues his string of matches where he does really nice job selling for shitty ex-WWE worker (selling Rhino’s spear, Ass Man’s offense, and now Dvon). I also liked Harris whipping out the old running choke with tape spot. And when Bubba wasn’t running the ropes, the Storm v Bubba sections were pretty fun too. And I am super stoked about the possibility of Spike in TNA. The catfight section was shitty. At this point both women have butcher faces then Devon. But still the catfight was really listless and mailed in. I’ve seen some semi-erotic fighting between two drunk props after a Seven Sister’s Game..you can be butch and still put some passion into your fight.
-And I dig Eric Young’s ridiculous goofball bumping for Sting. Sting really was willing to give Young a ton in this. And I’ve got to think Sting’s willingness to sell for someone that far down the totem poll is a nice sign, don’t know if he should be doing it but it’s probably a good sign. Sting brings out his Dudes with Attitudes 2K6 and I am amused as they are exactly the guys I predicted. Really is amusing the way TNA is such a short men’s fed, that Rhino can fill the El Gigante position.
WHAT DIDN’T WORK:
Damn they really needed bullet Bob on their Thursday debut as this was the show where all of the Sports entertainment stuff, all the promos were bad:
-The Christian sit down promo started promising and was worlds better than his angry promo from the week before. But really feels like Christian would be better off making jokes about Abyss’ leather pants. “Did you buy those at Hot Topic? That top is sold in the flat chested fat girls section of Torrid?” He doesn’t pull of the mic work for this angle with the same kind of conviction he had when he was snapping on his opponent’s wardrobe. It doesn’t help matters that they also are running the exact same invasion of privacy angle as the set up to the other big match on PPV. One face being bothered by invasion of privacy might work….two and it feels like a fed booked by Mel Gibson.
-Sting meancing an interviwer with his black bat might work if the interviewer role was played by Zbysco or Don West. Both can work threatened guy. Shove a black bat against Broash’s throat and Borash doesn’t sell menace or fear so much as he sells knowing giggles.Speaking of Borash, WEEKLY JEREMY BORASH TANNING WATCH ALERT: Borash has toned down a bunch since last week. I don’t know if they covered his tan with foundation or how it was done but he has gone from Sunny Delight Orange color to a mango lassi orange color. The JB interview segment still stank but JB’s coloration wasn’t as distracting.

Um...because their name isn't Dudley anymore? They should be billed as from 3Dville.
Actually, weren't they being billed as from New York during the last leg of their WWE tenure? I'm pretty sure they were.
I still am pretty ambivalent about Spike in TNA (and even more so about the horrible name they've given him -- "Brother Runt" is EVEN WORSE than "Mad Mikey") but on tonight's show he, at least, tries really hard.

I was thinking this last night during the 3D match...why not stick it to WWE and call him Brother Spyke, and do the lame ass replace I with Y so you can trademark it...a la the way WWE took Rhyno, Chyna, etc. Is there a reason why this wouldn't work??
