I suppose this would technically be a Velocity spoiler, but I was late getting to my seat due to some volunteer group running the concession stand I stopped at.

Scotty 2 Hotty beat someone. Yeah, sorry about that. Like I said, I got to my seat late and walked into the arena proper as the crowd was spelling out "worm".

Booker T beat Matt Hardy after a low blow/axe kick combo. As a side note, my cousin went with me to the show and he isn't much of a wrestling fan. As Booker stared at his hand, he asked me, "What's he looking at his hand for?" Sometimes it is better not to try and explain things.

Chris Benoit & Lashley beat Finley & Orlando Jordon. Actually, Lashley did most of the work after Finley and Benoit got knocked out outside of the ring.

Paul London beat Mercury by roll-up. The most notable thing about this match for me was how loud Melina can scream. I was on the other side of the arena by the cameras and could hear her.

All night they were showing backstage skits with Regal trying on different costumes. He had a bear, a rabbit and finally...

Gymini beat Burchill & Regal. Regal was also dressed like a pirate, but more the Dustin Hoffman in Hook type pirate than Burchill. Burchill quickly tagged Regal in, then walked away from the ring.

Teddy Long announced that next week Rey would fight Angle for the title.

The Great Khali beat Funaki. Wow. Just wow. Khali really is as bad as I'd read. He's got three moves. The chop to the top of the head, the double handed choke slame thing, and the chop to the top of the head.

Finally, JBL came out for a celebration, complete with marching band and balloons. He fired Jillian because he said he deserved a symphony, not some inner city Big Brother rejects. She cried and left. JBL talked about what a great American hero he is, which brought out Kurt Angle. After some talk about how Angle is going to win the title from Mysterio and then kick JBL's ass, Rey comes out. There's a big "Eddie" chant in the arena, as it occurs to me how sad it is that the crowd popped huge for Mysterio, but still chant for Eddie once he hits the ring. About 30 seconds later, JBL mentions the very same thing. Declarations of mutual respect follow between Angle and Mysterio, which sickens JBL. In a shocking turn of events, Angle and Mysterio do their finishers on JBL and leave.

I don't think I left anything out, but I wasn't taking notes, so I could have missed something or messed up the order of events.

Holy crap, what do you freaking expect?

This is only like, what, his 2nd match or something for TV?

I seriously don't know what people want from the guy. He's a giant. It would make sense that a giant would rely on power moves. And -- as such -- he wouldn't really and shouldn't really need much else to finish off his opponent . . . especially someone like Funaki. It doesn't make sense --physically- or psychology-wise -- for him to be doing anything more.

I'm not saying he's some amazing wrestler by any means -- but to just condemn the guy already before he's really even had his feet wet based on "three moves" isn't really fair.

Yea, one could argue that Big Show is about the same size and all and does some moves, but he's also been at it a lot longer...and it looks silly when he leaves his feet, too.

Then again, maybe Khali should just apologize now and quit because he can't do a 450 twisting kiwi-lemon mega-plancha!!11!1!

I would argue that on WWE television isn't the place to "get your feet wet." He can go back to the indies or OVW if that's what justifies his presence.

See, I disagree. It's not a story I want to see over and over again, but there is a story to tell that goes like this.... "My god, he's a huge man! Nothing can take him down! He's unmovable. It doesn't matter that he can't wrestle - no one can stop him. Who can stop the giant?"

Etc. He could have one move and they could make a compelling story for him, because a) it's scripted and b) people want to believe that these guys are superhuman.

We may not like it, but you could sell it to a lot of people.

The only thing the Great Khali is missing is the flesh-colored bodysuit, complete with fur.

I hope that JBL's firing of Jillian doesn't mean she's the next victim of roster cuts. She's gorgeous, has a personality, is good on the mic and can actually wrestle (from what we've seen in her handful of matches against actual wrestlers). Sure, her loss don't break the company or anything, but there are loads of more useless women on the roster that should go before she does.

Then again, maybe it's all just storyline and she'll show up in Angle's corner next week.

Ok, to be clear, I wasn't expecting a great moveset. What I expect from a wrestler is to be entertaining and if he's only going to do one move, try to make it look halfway decent. But the fact is that 95% of this guy's arsenal is a chop to the top of the head. Ok, so maybe a couple other moves to mix it up would be acceptable, but that's still not the major complaint. He moves slightly more rigidly than a zombie from a Romero movie and his one move looks really, really bad.

Oh, and the three moves comment was a bit of a joke. I thought it was funny that his whole offense except his finisher was a chop to the head. I honestly expected punches, kick, chokes, or something. But no, the match was chop, chop, chop, finisher. He did a run-in on the Undertaker/Cena match after Raw and did the exact same thing, nothing but chop to the top of the head.

I'm guessing that his lacking moveset is tied to the fact that Singh is a rookie who once killed a man while doing a power move. They're probably not going to allow him to do more than this.

Does anyone know if he even WANTS to do any power moves? I know that I'd be hesitant to do much more than chops to the top of the head if I killed a guy by trying a power move before (regardless of whether it was his fault or not)

That said, I'm also not sure that I really WANT to see him try any new moves.

If he doesn't want to try power moves then tough shit. Sorry, but WWE isn't a charity where unsure wrestlers can become comfortable with their craft whilst earning a nice big paycheck.

The guy can't wrestle, can't talk, is as stiff as a board and generally uncarriable due to his size. I'm all for the "This guy is huge!" storyline, but the giant in question should at least be capable of the basic tenets of the biz.

Singh has been horrible and limited in the ring all over the world for a few years, and wrestled/trained in WWE Devlopmental group Deep South for a few months before being called up. If he was going to get better, it probably would've happened already; what you're getting from him now is the most you're getting from him.

From Singh's Wikipedia entry:

"On May 28, 2001, Brian Ong volunteered to 'receive' a flapjack from Dalip Singh, a wrestler being specially trained by All Pro Wrestling. Singh inadvertedly caused the death of trainee wrestler Brian Ong. When performing the move, Ong was fatally injured. He had a previous concussion and the second consecutive concussion proved fatal for Ong. All Pro Wrestling lost a lawsuit brought by Ong's family over his death, and were forced to award damages of over $1.3 million to his parents."

He apparently powerbomed a guy who should not have been powerbombed due to a concussion. Not exactly his fault, more the fault of the folks in charge, but who knows. Certainly doesn't make you want to be powerbombed by him.

Here's a better story about it:

I'd say if he injures the Undertaker, his career will end before it actually starts.

And you have to feel bad for 'Taker. After all, he's gotten himself into great shape, adapted his wrestling style & had a phenomenal match with Angle at No Way Out.

But of course, I'd think that 'Taker has a say in who he works with, as well.
