So suddenly Schneider got canal 52MX on his cable. And well there is no EMLL thread icon on the W but ability to see new lucha libre on TV every week means more wrestling write ups. Hopefully there are other folks at the W who have access to CANAL 52MX.

What Worked

TKG: All the mic spots were really awesome. Negro Casas talking about finding time for family. Flecha and Stuka talking about what losing a mask would mean to them, the man on the street interviews were people predicted who would win the match...with 80% of the people asked predicting Stuka Jr. And the number one and best was Perro Jr. telling the audience--"I don't think everyone should get involved in wrestling, but everyone should get into sports and athletics. And parents should encourage their children in whatever sports they persue as a way of keeping kids away from the evils of drugs". Perro Jr telling me that sports/wrestling is his anti-drug right before a match with Tarzan Boy and Rey Bucanero in it had me laughing and laughing and laughing.

PAS: La Flecha v. Stuka Jr. was a pretty rare CMLL mask match, and was perfectly fine undercard lucha. They kind of rush through the first two falls, but the third fall is given plenty of time, and they get to hit alot of big moves. Both guys have nice dives, and mask matches have enough built in drama, that they can take pedestrian wrestling to the next level. Still outside of one really nifty roll up by Stuka Jr., neither guy really did anything to distinguish themselves. I liked it a bunch, but it didn't really stand out to me in the long run. For a fun match, it doesn't make me want to track down more stuff from either guy

TKG: That near fall roll up sequence was pretty cool. I liked Flecha's submission finisher. And thought Stuka Jr's hammerlock/DDT finisher was a really great finisher for this type of match. Hair match is gonna involve alot of near falls and really if it is gonna end clean the finish needs to be something that looks like there is no potential for kick out. Oh yeah when did Tigre Hispano get that old looking. I saw him live about two years ago and he looked like a handsome elderly Latin guy, really Ricardo Montalbanish. Some guy in the crowd tried to take a swing at him and he had great reflexes avoiding it and countering. Watching him reffing this match he looked like a completely different person. when does someone hit the wall and turn from Ricardo Montalban into Jimmy Durante?

PAS: Rey Buccanaro's ridiculous shirt. He was wearing this shirt which was a heart with staples all around it. Really looked like the kind of thing a new age Riot Girl scenster would wear. With the eye makeup, long flowing blond weave and Beth Ditto's T-shirt, Rey ended up being the gayest looking guy in a tag team with Tarzan Boy.

TKG: Bucanero is always wearing women's shirts. That this one was bought at Torrid didn't make it any more ridiculous than any of the other blouses he wears. I watch TNA and RAW. By either of those standards the main event would have made the what worked side. Probably doesn't deserve to make the what worked side for Coliseo but...Main event was mailed in. But Tarzan Boy and Negro Casas are guys who I enjoy watching doing nothing but schtick. The Negro Casas v. Olimpico section in third fall entertained me as Casas steals Kobashi's comedy spot. Way too much of this was built around Ultimo Dragon. Every rudo gets an exchange with Ultimo Dragon..and just he isn't the guy who you build the base of a match around.

What Didn't Work

PAS: Trios match really felt like mailed in Coliseo trios. Match was focused around Ultimo Dragon, and you really don't want a match focused around current Ultimo. Tarzan Boy did nothing, I don't remember Dos Caras Jr. even being in the match. Negro Casas had some fun comedy spots and reactions, but not much wrestling. I wish if they were going to have a completly mailed in match, they would at least let them do some matwork to kill time. When you look at Olimpico match up with Dos Caras Jr., you get the sense that Johnny Stambolli probably failed in Mexico because he wasn't roided enough to pass as a heavyweight.
