Ouch. This is kind of brutal.

McNair was told to go home Monday when he showed up at the team's headquarters for the start of the third week in the Titans' offseason conditioning program. The team's general counsel had called agent Bus Cook earlier Monday and informed him McNair would be told to leave.
A team trainer told the 11-year veteran to leave, Cook said.

I was under the impression that you couldn't forbid a guy under contract from showing up at the facilities. Didn't I hear something to that effect last year when they benched T-O?

EDIT: I have no idea why I spelled contract like that.

Eh, sorry, but Steve McNair hasn't done anything wrong, and if the Titans were stupid enough to sign him to a contract that caused him to eat up 25% of their salary cap room, it's their own damn fault.

And furthermore, you don't do that shit to one of your most loyal players.

Living around the Nashville area, you can imagine the press that this is getting. As far as the contract thing goes, I'm not totally clear on the status, but supposedly they are still in the negotiations stage. Had McNair gotten injured at the facility, they would still have to pay him the whole shebang. But the irony is that one of the big complaints is that McNair needed to spend extra time working with the young receivers. How can he do that if he's not allowed into the team facility?

I'm a McNair fan & would like to see him play as a Titan in 2006 (after all, I wanna be able to wear my #9 jersey), but let's face it. His days here in Nashville are probably numbered due to the Titans probably having their pick of the 3 top QB prospects in the draft.

The hot rumor is that the Ravens are waiting to pounce on McNair should he get his release from the Titans. C'mon Steve, ANYONE but the Ravens!!!
