Or...this is a WWE/VKM plan to try and attract some press via blasphemy. We've got the whole "King of Kings" title - complete with a skull wearing a crown on HHH's entrance video - plus VKM booking God in a tag-team match. He's got to be figuring the Bible Belt will object *sometime*.

I also agree that the Spirit Squad as a whole won the Tag Team belts on RAW, and any two members can defend them.

Why did HHH come out to his new music in the first segment, but when the match came around he had his old music?

Also, I know its a long shot but I wonder if in the HBK/Vince segment with HBK being teamed with God... any chance that could be a mini DX reunion with HBK teaming with the king of kings HHH? or am I just hoping?

Spirit Squad - worst tag team champions of all time ?
Only to be confirmed if like previous corresponents think, they will defend the belts in any combination.

Question - How many times have a dating or married couple held WWF/E titles simultaneously ?

Not counting anyone like Goldust and Terri who held belts on different occasions.

Mickie James is dating Kenny, although she is 7 years older than him. Not a problem, just seems unusual.

Can anyone name many other such partnerships who held gold like this. I will research !

Jamal seems to have reversed the Samoan gene that makes the members of his family put on amazing amounts of weight regularly.

Hopefully, Estrada won't be using any 'Hommes' / 'Hey Yo' / 'Chico' references too often or it will be a case of Latino Freeze.

Good lord, not even close. The Spirit Squad can wrestle and have an entertaining and somewhat-over gimmick. You can't have been watching the show from 1995 to 1997, or for long periods of time since now and then.

It was more a statement to get a reaction. Maybe The Bodydonnas - Skip & Zip.

Certainly there have been some unusual and scratched together tag team combos, but more in later years.

I've been watching WWE full-time since 1990, so I've seen it all.

I *LOVED* the Spirit Squad winning the tag titles. After WM, where I thought Carlito/Masters were going to win, I had no idea where they were going to go with the titles since no two people would be able to take them down. When I saw their opponents, I called it right away. I really love Kenny's top-rope legdrop, too. He got some great air last night.

WM highlights instead of stills? Thanks, WWE! Glad I didn't pay for the event! Really glad they showed the Benjamin "Spiderman" move (ropes to ladder). Sweet move.

When Vince was yammering, I misheard him and thought he called Shane the "product of his sin." Made Shane's look that much more effective. Seeing what was actually said on captioning actually disappointed me.

I had the same question about HHH and his new/old music. Maybe they are still working out the full-blown entrance details, like when they first came out with "My Time" and it was just the instrumental. Now *that* was pretty damn cool.

Count me in on the "Back Cracker" love. Carlito does a great job with that move.

They could also just be using that song temporarily as part of a cross-promotion with Motorhead, since it's going to be on their new album.

Using (a weak rip-off of) "Da Colbert Code" I will now reveal HBK's real tag team partner at Backlash.

God > Jesus > King of Kings > HHH > OMG DX REUNITES

(C'mon, SOMEONE had to make that joke.)

My Take: As often as Triple H talks before he returns to wrestle, a second theme won't diminish the drama of his match entrance.

I really enjoyed the show. I've been a fan of the Spirit Squad since they introduced the trampoline, and I hope that the Freebird rule will allow them to cheat weekly and possibly revive the tag scene.

If somehow JBL tags with Shawn (as "a" god, maybe not "the God"), all will be right with the world. The continuation of the feud does nothing unless someone enters on Shawn's behalf and then feuds with Shawn after a turn. I can't think of anyone I'd like in the role, even Marty.

Even if Chicago chanted like mad for Carlito, will the WWE book the new feud with him as the face? He completely played the bad guy against Masters last night but got utterly face cheers.

Wonder if Chavo plays the Blue Blazer card here, coming back masked.

While I enjoyed Estada, if a feud with freaking Jamal is all they can come up with for Flair, he should just retire. Or go to TNA, har har. Other than hearing Chi-town shit all over Cena AGAIN, there was nothing to see here.

Carlito is the face due to:

a)The current crop of fans loving heelish behaviour, especially from someone as charismatic as him;
b)The turn being justified by Masters' mistake costing them their 'Mania match;
c)Masters being a big idiot who no-one wants to cheer.

Also, tag team champions that The Spirit Squad are better than: The Bodydonnas, The Godwinns, The Bashams, the last coupla La Rez and Smoking Gunns reigns, Right To Censor, Rikishi & Scotty II Hotty, Hurricane & Rosey, Rico & Rikishi, Booker T & Test, The Big Bossman & Ken Shamrock, Men On A Mission, and The Nasty Boys, to name those within my knowledge. For what the tag teams should be The Spirit Squad are the best they've had in a long, long time. They're young, they have tons of charisma, they're getting over, they have a team name and outfits, and they can wrestle.

Yes, I missed that at first when I saw one of them flying between the ropes into the ring. When the next guy hit the ramp and flew over the top rope, I saw it then. Muy impressive.

Certainly a new development in the history of professional wrestling! I dare say that before one or two years ago, no heel had ever been turned babyface by virtue of mounting popularity!

I thought Raw was quite exciting last night. I'm glad I'm not alone in kinda loving the Spirit Squad. I don't even really mind that they don't have separate personalities, because isn't that kind of the point? Besides, I've noticed that Johnny is the one who hauls out silly dance moves.

The Chavo thing made me uncomfortable.

You know what I thought was the awesomest thing on Raw? How old school was that Flair/Estrada/Umanga segment? A beloved babyface's fruitless I'm-going-to-win-the-belt promo is interrupted for no reason by a loud, obnoxious manager wearing a mildly ridiculous outfit and carrying a prop that will eventually be used to hit people, who then introduces a chubby Samoan in a sarong to deliver an unprovoked beatdown? Who booked this? Herb Abrams is dead, right? Is Fritz Von Erich still alive? I'm all for backstage Crash TV invisible-camera stuff, but something like this really hits the spot every once in a while.

While I do not like the Spirit Squad gimmick overall, they are great athletes and are making the best of it. After watching some of them in OVW, I just wish they were given a better gimmick, but they are definitely being given a great opportunity to get over.

I disagree, Rikishi and S2H were hugely over with the crowd and could work circles around the Spirit Squad. Also, the same goes for Hurricane and, well, I'll give you that Rosey wasn't technically a great wrestler, but he was great in the hot tag role after Hurricane played face-in-peril.

I am willing to give the Spirit Squad a chance, but I refuse to call it the Freebird rule allowing any 2 members to defend it. I'll call this the Moondog rule. All terrible wrestlers by today's standards, but man, did we love to hate them (and their manager, Lou Albano). It's sad to read folks are proud of watching since 1990 when I've been watching a quarter century more than that.

I thought Raw was fun, first time I saw the whole thing in a while. Highlights for me was Vince talking about Shane's emotional scarring - while Shane gave him a WTF look. When Vince booked HBK and God as a tag team, my mind raced back to the old bumper sticker that read

"God was my co-pilot, but we crashed in the mountains and I ate him"

I enjoyed the opening bit with Cena/HHH/Edge - Trips is better on the mic when he keeps it under 10 minute segments. Even though the HHH handshake offer to Cena was clearly a set up for a pull-away, it was still played well. I thought for a second, HHH would ramble on to Edge after his curtain jerker comment, about not beating anyone - Foley is well beyond his prime and hasn't won a match in many, many years. But this would completely bury Foley - which might not be good for future PPV business. I worry that the Edge Spear to HHH set up a 3-way feud for the next PPV, with face vs. 2 heels.

I also felt that Carlito was the one acting heelish. How long before Carlito falls victim to the Masterlock?

I feel bad for Chavo, who is good enough in his own right not to be forced to imitate Eddie for the rest of his career - he's not Eddie, nobody will ever be Eddie 'cept maybe Dominic in 20 years. It seems like they might be trying to stop the crowd from chanting Eddie in all of Chavo's matches. He can't execute the Shimmy and 3 Amigos nearly as well as Eddie, although his frog splash has been getting better.

Jamal v 2.0 - meh. At least this time they gave him a mouthpiece. Maybe Flair will take someone under his wing for "protection" - Snitsky? Carlito or Masters? If this is the beginning of another youngster getting the rub, they can do worse than Flair to learn from.

Scotty & Rikish meant jack, in terms of both heat and workrate, by the time they won the titles in 2004. Scotty was a shell of his former self thanks to massive stretches of time on the shelf, and Rikishi had ballooned in weight. In no way could they work rings around SS-comparing Ken Doane and Mike Mondo to the tag title-era S2H and Rikishi is like comparing Jamie Noble to Spike Dudley. And their act was over, but only in a cursory "hey, I remember these guys!" way. Hurricane and Rosey I'll agree to disagree on. I felt that by the time they won the titles they were such jobbers that it was pretty much an admission that the division was beyond repair.

Now I really enjoyed this episode of Raw, but I did feel it was like reversing what happened at Wrestlemania, and thus put everybody on the same level again (a booking decision that Scott Keith would talk about with regards to the WWE often back a few years ago).

Did you want Carlito to turn on Masters after the tag title loss? You got it on Raw. Did you want a tag title change? Wait until Raw. Did you want HHH to beat John Cena? Well, you got it on Raw, and now the two guys are even at 1 win apiece against each other and neither guy is ahead of the other. It seems to jump back to even level booking in almost every feud and wrestler minus Mickie James, who won her match at WM and then won again at Raw.

Still, it was a fun night with another good crowd, and the Spirit Squad's celebration after their title win was great. MI-KEYYYYYYAHHHH!

I don't really think that's true at all. They didn't reverse the Carlito/Masters booking, they advanced it further on from the conclusion of their time at WrestleMania. HHH and Cena aren't at one win apiece, Hunter beat him in a 2-on-1 handicap match after lulling him into a false sense of security. These seem less like "levelling out" and more like furthering things before Backlash. The only WrestleMania follow-up I would gripe over is the Shawn/Vince stuff, which has no reason whatsoever to continue.
