IU replaces Mike Davis with Kelvin Sampson as per ESPN .

Sort of a surprise hiring, while I like and respect Sampson, he's not immune to early NCAA losses.

Who replaces Sampson at Oklahoma?

Who replaces Mike Anderson at UAB?

I'm surprised by this one. Never heard Sampson's name mentioned at all since Davis resigned. It looks like Few (and Calipari) both rejected the job, and I had heard that they didn't want Alford or Wittman because of their connection with Knight. Still, even if all of those options were off the table, I'm surprised they hired a guy whose current program is being investigated for recruiting violations.

I had heard Mike Davis might get a look to replace Anderson at UAB. He might do a good job down there.

I'm glad you brought up Anderson, I wanted to bring it up but didn't think it deserved it's own thread. Very sad to see him leave UAB after what he's done for the program but good for him for getting a better job. Now that the Conference USA is so down I'm not sure what kind of caliber coach we can get, unless someone wants to come here BECAUSE there isn't much competition.

Davis would do very well at UAB. He's a genuine nice guy who was just a bit over his head starting out at Indiana.

I agree that Davis would be a good hire for UAB. Davis is an excellent recruiter and a pretty good coach. He had to follow Knight at IU and as a result had the instant disdain of many IU fans who had placed Knight on a pedestal. "Rumor" has DJ White and Robert Vaden as willing to transfer to any school that hires Davis, so he'd bring in a couple of impact players. In C-USA he'd really only have to deal with Memphis on an annual basis, with the random "upswing team(s)" providing competition as well.

I've also read rumors that Nolan Richardson wants to return to the coaching ranks and could be a possibility at UAB - though his quasi "meltdown" in his waning days at Arkansas may have burned those bridges for him.

Anderson to Missouri is a good move - at least on paper. If he can build and sustain at Mizzou and if Huggy Bear can build and sustain at K-State, the Big 12 has suddenly significantly increased as a basketball conference. I think that OU should be able to get a good coach and maintain - giving Texas, OU, and Kansas as the "established" teams and bringing K-State and Mizzou up the ladder. The conference is even stronger if Knight can pick things up at Texas Tech (though he hasn't really done any sustaining there yet).
