A pretty interesting Sun / Jin story, surprisingly. I gotta check some old recaps because I thought the hotel owner's son wasn't interested in Sun (at the arranged date). What happened between Sun and son? What caused Sun to change her mind about bringing Jin along to America? I wonder if there's some first season detail that I'm missing. Sun's pregnancy = an island miracle for Jin?

Henry Gale is the coolest character ever...just so smug with Jack and Locke. I say that they do find a balloon and a woman buried nearby. But only because Gale's room in the hatch is bugged and the Others will plant a female body at the site.

Why couldn't Jack hear any conversation from the room if the walls are paper thin? He had his ear right there, so it's not like Jack couldn't hear over the music playing. It's also not like Ana-Lucia and Gale were whispering.

Next week looks wicked. "Next week" always looks wicked though.

VERY interesting casting info for next week...

Spoiler Below: Highlight text to read
Next week is a Locke episode, with Kevin Tighe (Cooper) and Katey Sagal guest starring. BUT, also guest starring is Andrea Gabriel as NADIA.

The hotel owner's son wasn't interested in Sun, but they still got along and were quite friendly with each other. They were very casual and friendly from the start. Sun never planned to bring Jin to America. They were heading there for a trip, but she was supposed to leave him at the airport at 11:15. That's when she changed her mind and decided to stay with him.

I loved the sparring between Ana Lucia and Charlie. Since I hate both characters, as long as they kept snapping at each other I was happy. I suppose they are trying to restore some of Ana's credibility this week. She didn't seem nearly as rough as she usually does. I don't think Jack heard what was going on in the cell since they were talking at a rather quiet volume. There wasn't any yelling or the like.

"Jack and Locke are too busy being concerned with Locke and Jack." Awesome line.

If Henry Gale is not an other, than he is such a big asshole they should kill him anyway. How stupid (or evil) would you have to be, to be all "this is what I'd do..." I can't believe that we'll have to wait until next week to find out what happened to Sayid and Ana and Charlie. If we do at all. Then again, maybe since people were complaining about Charlie and Ana, they've decided to Micheal them off of the show.

After Jin left Sun alone in the garden after finding out she was pregnant, I was SO expecting a real attack from the Others to kidnap Sun, since they'd now have more of a reason.

I liked Jin's realization of Sawyer's "Daddy-o".

I can't complain about any episode that has Yunjin Kim in lingerie.

So when Sun hugged Jin at the end of LOST, and she had that weird look on her face, do you think that means that she lied and that she really did bang that other guy behind Jin's back ?

My thoughts on Gale is that the writers are trying so hard to make him seem that he is an OTHER that I don't think he is one. I think their just gonna have him fucking crazy and that's why he talks the way he does. After all, the trailer for next week shows them finding the balloon.

But I do like Mr Shh's thinking on that scenario. He could be right.

Did anyone else notice that they used the wrong form of "Your" when the doctor said "You're husband works for your father, if I had said something he would have had my whole office burned to the ground." (paraphrased)

Kind of weird that they'd screw up something like that.

I'm actually kind of annoyed by this week's episode because of all the subtitles. It's not the show's fault, but the ABC station I get on Directv puts up an opaque bug that completely covers the ABC bug, and thusly covers the last few letters of each of the subtitles.

I was kinda surprised that Ana Lucia would go to Sayid and not Eko with her map. Not that it's impossible to explain -- Sayid probably knows the local terrain better -- but still, it struck me as a contrived way to get Ana Lucia and Sayid working together.

I have the vibe that Ecko is singularly focused on building his whatever-it-is along the brushline.

Wait. He's the asshole? Who was it who threw him in a dark concrete box and sent in people to torture him and psychologically tweak and interrogate him? Henry gets a free ride with me for a long while basically because of that. He's earned the right to be prickly or annoying. I'm not saying you've got the wrong idea for disliking him; I can certainly understand it. But for my part any resentment or annoyance inspired by him gets directed right back at Jack, Locke... any of 'em.

That's partly why I really liked Henry's comments. There he is: subjected to the whims and the power of Jack, Locke et. al, and it's completely obvious what a clusterfuck their leadership situation is. Who wouldn't be sneeringly resentful of that? He has no freedom, he's hurt, he's frightened... all at the hands of two guys pecking and gabbling at each other like magpies — both playacting at "authority," despite being screwups at it. I totally get Henry's attitude, "Yeah, screw you idiots. Who the hell are you two to imprison and torture me?" So he sits in the room and overhears all the suspicion and resentment between Jack and Locke, and when he gets out, he plays on that. And everything he said about what he would do, if he were an "Other," plays perfectly on that suspicion and distrust, too.

Personally, I don't think Henry's an "Other." I think he's just really fucking irritated.

I'll concede that his behaviour might be somewhat justified, but I don't think the way he's reacting is helping to endear himself to his captors. Maybe he realizes that he's pretty much screwed no matter what, so he can act with impunity and not affect his fate, but his entire tone during that speech was so obnoxious and condescending. As much as Jack and Locke are 'playacting at "authority"' (good phrase!), it should be obvious that they both still have the best of intentions in mind. If they didn't, Sayid would have done more than just bruise him up in that cell. Gale seems to be trampling all over their good will and is almost baiting them to kill him.

Yeah, I noticed that, and I was kinda surprised at it too. I'm sure it'll be fixed in time for the DVD release though, and maybe even in time for re-runs.

I liked the Jin/Sun storyline, but unlike many people on here, I've liked all of their storylines. I was expecting Sun to be pregnant and the hotel owner's son to be the father from early in the episode, but I can't help but believe Sun was telling the truth when she told Jin she's been faithful. I think that strange look on her face at the end of the episode was just her trying to figure out how on earth she got pregnant.

Against my better judgment, I watched the preview for next week. Would it have killed them to keep the balloon mystery going?

Maybe finally we can get some advancement on that end...you know, why all of a sudden Jin is fertile and Locke can walk with very little trouble. I was worried they were going to put that completely on the backburner for next season...though, they still might.

Just because the balloon's there doesn't mean that he's telling the truth. He could've just known of its existence and used it to fabricate the story and/or as Mr Shh pointed out, it could be a trap deliberately set by The Others.

My two favorite scenes from last night:
1. Hurley, with the candy bar, running into Jin, with the pregnancy test.
2. Henry Gale inquiring about the cereal, Jack and Locke brushing it off, and him (rightly) pointing out that they don't seem as concerned or curious about things as they should be.

I was thinking along these lines. The Others are smart, and they have to realize that even a blind squirrel finds a nut. Nathan and Ethan were killed by passengers, so they have to believe that they are sometimes vulnerable. I would think that they have a few contingency plans, like Zeke saying at the last MOATO (Meeting Of All The Others), "Guys, just in case one of these jerkoffs captures you, we'll plant a balloon, bury a body, and then you say...." It does seem, however, that the writers WANT us to believe that Henry is an Other, and I believe that when they WANT us to believe something, it's probably to swerve us later. He could be trying to divide/conquer, thinking that its his only way out.

Also, does anyone know of something on the net thats like a "Lost Timeline"? Its confusing somehow to remember that its probably only been 2 weeks or less since MIchael ran off to find Walt, and that Aaron is only what, a month old?

That is a pretty comprehensive timeline.
- Aaron is 16 days old
- Walt was kidnapped 13 days ago
- Desmond's been gone for 12 days
- Jack, Sawyer, Locke, and Kate met Zeke less than a week ago (same day as Michael running off)
- Cindy's been gone for 9 days, on the same day Shannon was shot

Cool! Although Aaron is WAYYYYY more alert at 16 days than any baby I've ever seen...
