As a lifelone Habs fan, it's a genunine pleasure to see another young goalie come into his own in the playoffs. I said it before and I'll say it again; Jose Theodore will win the Smythe, SHOULD win the Hart, and will be the next Roy/Dryden for the Habs.

Before the playoffs people said I was crazy to think that Montreal would be a dangerous team to play against and they had potential to go places. Now, some of those people agree with me that they're cup contenders. I've seen only one other performence like this in the playoffs by a goalie....

Patrick Roy. Montreal Canadiens. 1993.

GO HABS GO!

EDIT: It's now 3-0. I think they smell blood.

That is, of course, unless they trade him away after this season (the phrase `free agent' comes to mind). Now, like you I'm a lifelong Habs fan and the thought of that happening makes me laugh a little bit...until I remember the realities of modern sport and realize it is a potential possibility, no matter how faint.

And I'm pretty sure other teams have had unbelievably hot goalies in the playoffs. Pele Lindburgh for the Flyers in the mid-eighties, Steve Penney for our Habs in 1986, and Felix Potvin for the Leafs in the early nineties come to mind. Roy stands out because he won the cup (and, to be true, with a relatively `weak' team in front of him).

Mind you the Habs are due :)

In Montreal, goalies are huge. FRENCH CANADIAN golaies and even bigger. They'll be keeping him for as long as he wants to stay, regardless of the money involved.

Flash'n'the'pan is unlikely. He's shown flashes of brillance before, then the stretch drive a,d playoffs has happened.

3-0 now 3-3.

I hate it when my team chokes.

Here's hoping they can recover.

What a game, what a series.

I told my friends during the first round at a Flyers game that Carolina is a solid goaltender away from being a cup contender and they thought I was crazy. Carolina is a better team than people give them credit for.

Sorry about being a bit off topic. It was a bit upsetting that Theodore was not prepared for a shot from the point. He should have been ready and made the save.

I love being "that guy."

You know him...he's "that guy," cheering for the opposite team that 99% of the bar is rooting for.

I LOVED being that guy tonight.

Heh, I've been that guy for years. I've always despised the Senators. I remember being at Hartford's last game in Ottawa when both clubs were chasing a playoff spot. Had Hartford won that night, Ottawa was out and they would have clinched.

My throat was dead the next day from all my yelling at the referees. If they'd won, I'd have left that arena with 18,499 pissed off fans and the biggest grin on my face.

I have always been an Atlanta Braves fan, so you can imagine the verbal spars I got into during the '93 World Series.

I don't mind Montreal or Toronto, but I'd LOVE to see Carolina vs. Ottawa in round 3. Believe me - I'll be wearing my Hurricanes jersey EVERYWHERE and won't be ashamed. I've already found some Habs fans around here who informed me on the bus the other day that "tu pu!"

Ahh sports.

I can forgive Theodore for that shot, if fo rn oother reason that he's stopped so many surefire goals. Like the sprawling blocker save (pick choice of save of the year thus far).

Both Eastern Confernce series are getting INSANE. No matter who wins *coughMontrealin6cough*, we come out on top with such great games =)

That's too funny...cause I was "that guy" in the old-school Whalers jeresy everytime the Canes came to Ottawa (when I lived there from 96 to 2000.) Kinda weird that I only started liking the Sens once I moved to Calgary...

Any idea how hard it was to get a friend to go to a Carolina game?

"Hey, the Canes are in town tonight...wanna go?"
"Only if I can sit in Marshy's all game."
"Deal...let's go."

I was pissed last night - Thursday nights my wife owns the TV - at the end of Survivor it was 3-0 and at the end of CSI it was 3-3 and headed to OT - cleaned up, made the coffee for my commute, locked up, ran upstairs, checked the two sleeping kids and then turned on ESPN2 to watch the OT - got F***ing Baseball 2Night - missed the OT goal - had to go to Headline News (what a waste of a channel these days) and suffer through the overcrowded screen and incredibly slow ticker to see that the WhalerCanes had come all the way back.....what a series - it's going 7

Good Gawd, dunk, that was exactly what happened at our house, too! (Except I checked on three kids.) Though they did show the goal right away on ESPN regular. Go Canes!!

Ha-I was at my parents' house for dinner, and I had to wait for commercial breaks during Survivor/CSI as well. Fortunately, Hockey Night in Canada was in full effect so I didn't have to wait for the results.

That collapse may be the turning point of the series. Too bad for the Habs.

That's the great thing about living out West...the game starts at 5pm and is done by 8pm. Plenty of time to see the General make the walk of shame.

I don't think it's going 7. Every time the Habs have had a setback like the last game, they come back. The 'Canes will start off with a flury, but I think they'll "weather the storm" and win the game. And with Game Six in Montreal....I pity the 'Canes in that regard.

Doesn't look like the Habs have recovered from blowing Game 4 - they didn't even show up yesterday - the magic may have left the Keg - we will know for sure by the end of the first period tonight
