Ex-"Press Your Luck" game show host Peter Tomarken died in a plane crash this morning.

Dammit. "Press Your Luck" was one of my all time favorite shows, and I still watch the show regularly on GSN. When I was a kid, I spent an awful lot of visits to the Jersey Shore either sick in bed (I'd always catch something in Jersey for some reason) or sitting inside while it rained. My aunt and I would root for the whammies.

He seemed like a likeable guy, plus, he died flying a plane for a company that charters sick people to UCLA medical center for free.

If you want to go old school Tomarken, let's talk about "Hit Man," which was supposed to be NBC's answer to a "video" game show. Albeit a fun show in my eyes, the most memorable moment is Rod Roddy saying on the last episode that if viewers wanted to get more information on becoming a contestant, "Forget it!"

Of course there was the forgettable "Bargain Hunters," "Wipeout" -- which had a kick-ass end game and what would be Tomarken's last game, "Paranoia."

Sucks to hear that he passed, but this death has hit the IGSC pretty hard.

Damn, that sucks hard. Loved PYL. Loved seeing him on GSC a few years ago guest-hosting Whammy and of course narrating the Michael Larsen documentary.

Anyone see the "Press Your Luck" documentary type that highlighted the guy that took the show because he figured out the sequence. Tomarken's uneasyness is duly noted. He played off well as shocked for a while, but you could tell, he was scared.

RIP...
