To offset the "Movies that make you cry" and "Broadway musical" threads -- let's blow some shit up!

My favorites:

The car chase climax of The Road Warrior.

The sequence in King of New York that runs from the house raid through the trainyard.

The bank robbery in Heat.

Okay, your turn!

Well, I've put four seconds of thought into this, so I'm sure I'm missing a lot like stuff from The Bourne Identity movies, but I've always liked the scene in Terminator 2 when Arnold's in the building (Cryodyne?) shooting the cop cars in the parking lot.

That, and any scene in Aliens (except the end battle). The part where they realize that the aliens are coming in the room through the ceiling and the one guy starts shooting while falling is an awesome one.

Not sure if they would be considered action scenes, but I like the dramatic endings of sports movies, especially Major League 1 & 2....Rocky 1,2,3 and Dodgeball.

Without a doubt the fight scenes in Ong Bak: The Thai Warrior. The RZA did an amazing job with the music, and to see Tony Jaa do all that without wires or computer graphics was crazy rediculous. Hey, at least they had some cheesy special effects for the bad guys.

Cowboy Bebop-- The final fight between Spike & Vicious. The anticipation was there. You knew that one of 'em was gonna die. It was the perfect end to the series, IMHO.

Spoiler Below: Highlight text to read
When Spike comes shuffling down the steps and falls down, you aren't even sure if either of them survived.

Old school here.

The fight in the mudpit in McClintock!

The shootem up scenes from the end of True Grit or High Noon or Gunfight at the OK Corral (ok, I supect that's my favorite, because Kirk Douglass is awesome in it)

The Outlaw Josey Wales - The scene where the Redlegs are killing the Riders and Josey kills a bunch of them and saves the boy (plus, Josey Wales has the best line in a movie ever: "Dyin' ain't much of a livin', boy")

Ok, more modern?

The end of Die Hard was pretty good, same for Die Hard with a Vengence. I also liked the fight on the top of the Statue of Liberty between Wolverine and Sabretooth in Xmen.

The first action scene that I loved was in The Long Riders. It was a cowboy film starring the Carradines, the Keaches, Quaids and the Guests playing the Jesse James and his crew. The final shootout scene blew me away...

Second and third are both fight scenes in Face/Off. First, after they switched the bodies and Archer(now Troy)has the huge shootout at Gina Gershon's brother's place, where they put the headphones on the little kid and shoot all around him. Second is the shootout that starts in the church, winds up on a speed boat and ends with a harpoon. John Woo is the man...

Anything from Gladiator (the Russell Crowe one) or Bad Boy II also impress me.

Spider Man 2 comes the mind.

The fight on the clock tower and the fight on the subway train.
It was kind of ruined though when someone on a movie website pointed out the Doc Ock had no super-powers besides his arms and one punch from super-strength Spidey would have knocked him out.

If it helps, think of Doc Ock as being COMPLETELY controlled by the arms during the fights. He couldn't be knocked out because the arms had complete control of him like they did in the hospital before he woke up. They shared a brain, so Spidey'd have to 'knock out' the computer's brains to affect the Doctor's.

The final scene between John Murdoch and Mr. Book in Dark City has been my favorite for a long while. To keep the Alex Proyas love going, runner-up goes to the scene in The Crow where Eric busts in on Top Dollar's meeting.

"A Better Tomorrow" When Chow Yun Fat walks in and guns down everyone in the dining room.

"The Last of the Mohicans" Basically the whole end of the movie: from when the music starts and Uncas runs up the mountain to when Chingachgook takes care of Magua

"True Romance" Final big gunfight between everyone.

"The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly" Final showdown between Blondie, Angel Eyes, and Tuco with the trumpets blaring.

these are just the tip of the iceberg

For me, it's gotta be the whole montage of the Ivan Drago - Rocky Balboa fight in Rocky IV. I had the whole scene turned into an .mp3 so I can listen to it whenever. Just goose bumps and chills all around.

I also LOVVVVVVVE the scene in Blade 2 right after Blade gets dumped into the vat of blood and then starts kicking the crap outta everything in sight. Even features a nice, extended vertical suplex (a la Davey Boy) in there.

Rambo: First Blood II

The Russian and Vietnamese soldiers have Rambo captured, and after torturing him they tell him to contact his base. Rambo gets on the microphone and says...

"Murdock......"

Lightening crashes while Rambo clutches the microphone...

"Murdock. I'm coming to get you..."

Then bam, he bashes the mic into a solder's face, kicks another in the stomach. He grabs a machine gun and takes out about 50 guys as he escapes with his woman.

Fucking awesome movie!

So many classics to choose from.

Die Hard 2: The shootout at the chapel followed by the snowmobile chase.

Fifth Element: Shootout at the opera house with the big ugly aliens. What can I say? I'm a mark for Bruce Willis busting shit up and shooting anything in sight.

From Dusk Till Dawn: The Gang vs The Vampires, round two. The only movie where I'll openly admit to being a fan of George Clooney's work. Harvey Keitel brings the goods in this one as well.

Johnny Mnemonic: If only for the awesomeness of Dolph Lundgren playing an evil Jesus and killing anything in sight. And you got Henry Rollins with the ultra-balls to take him on.

The Matrix Reloaded: Neo vs Infinite Smiths, round one. Sue me, I liked it. Sure it's CGI-heavy, heck 3/4 of the movie is. What drives this battle home is the kickass background track ("Burly Brawl" by Don Davis & Juno Reactor). And come on, who didn't like seeing Neo pop out of the Smith Pile for the first time?

Terminator 2: The Chopper vs SWAT truck highway chase, plus when the shit hits the fan when everyone shows up at the Pescadero institute during Sarah's escape.

True Lies: Arnold vs terrorists on the island.

OK! I'm trying to get some of my 'man points' back after the past few posts about gay porn and my love of musicals, so I'm making this one a little long, sorry...

INVASION USA: End fight scene with a lone Chuck Norris against EVERY FUCKIN TERRORIST IN THE WORLD! Scene ends with Chuck blowin the fuck outta Richard Lynch with a rocket launcher!

RAMBO III: First fight scene with Rambo going against some guy with sticks. It's short but it's really coreographed well. It makes you think Stallone really COULD fuck someone up.

MILLER'S CROSSING: Albert (Motha' Fuckin) Finney blowing away EVERYONE for like ten minutes straight without EVER reloading his machine gun! (But it's cool, cause he OWNED!)

VERSUS: End sword fight between 'The Man' and 'The Prisoner'. Sweet fucking god, THAT'S a sword fight.

The car chase scene in Bullitt. A Charger R/T (the real one, not the crappy one currently being produced) and a Shelby Mustang in the streets of San Francisco.
