So as the build-up to WrestleMania kicks in, it dawns on me that, really, if this show is to be any good, it's going to have to rely heavily on "garbage" matches. And while I love a good brawl as much as the next guy, most of the matches on the card are going to be of the hardcore variety to be any good, which kinda limits the variety of the card.
Cena vs. HHH-HHH can still brawl with the best of them, and Cena's not too far behind (witness his matches with JBL). I can't expect much in the way of real workrate though.
McMahon vs. HBK-They're going to need every cheap trick in the book to make this any good.
Foley vs. Edge-Obviously this is going to be a big brawl as it's a hardcore match.
MITB-It's a ladder match, for Christ's sake, of course it's going to be a car wreck!
Benoit vs. JBL-I'm actually a JBL fan, but he's no Kurt Angle in the ring, so this is going to need to be wild to be any good.
At this point, it's up to the World title match to provide something that would satisfy the workrate freaks. At this point, the card is shaping up to be very much an ECW-like show, and, for WrestleMania, I'm not entirely sure that's a good thing.

Hey you got something here. This really looks like one of the most underwhelming Wrestlemanias in recent memory.
I'm flabbergasted they are actually doing HBK vs. Vince. I'm just like...why? What a waste of time when we should be getting a REAL Wrestlemania match in HBK vs. Shelton for the IC title (there hasn't been an IC title match for Mania in FOUR years). Or HBK vs. RVD a main event match to be sure that WWE refuses to exploit just like Mysterio vs. Benoit.
I mean, its really a waste of HBK.
A couple of the matches could turn out to be special considering the guys involved, but this is certainly far removed from WM XX. And there's not one match on this card that can possibly surpass the novelty of Angle/HBK from last year.

Eh, I think there's "brawl" and then there's "garbage", and there's still a ways to go in between the two. I don't expect Cena to put Triple H through a barbed-wire flaming table, for example. (Though if he did, I would instantly become the world's #1 John Cena fan).
You make a good point that the matchups seem pretty unusual and that aside from maybe one or two matches, the "OMG WORKRATE~!" folks would be better off staying home. But I do know that last year's Money in the Bank ladder match was insanely awesome, and if anyone didn't like it, I ain't got time for ya. I'll probably go to Baker Street to watch the PPV just so I can see how Shelton Benjamin can possibly top the crazy shit he did last year.

I still don't know why Lashley was booked to lose to JBL at No Way Out (apart from JBL being in with Vince and Lashley still being a bit green). I've been thinking for weeks that a Lashley/Benoit bout at 'Mania would have been pretty good. That man has Goldberg potential written all over him....
Vince vs HBK is a waste, especially considering that HBK is greatly reducing his schedule after 'Mania.

Lashley needs a LOT more in-ring seasoning before being given a truly high-profile gig. Putting him with Finlay, the guy who helped turn Trish Stratus into a really damn good wrestler, for an extended stretch is the best thing for his career right now.

If HBK is going to lighten his load post mania then I see HBK jobbing to Vince. Before you all think im crazy here is what I see happening. Sometime before Mania Vinnie Mac is gonna add some stipulation like "loser leaves town, your fired, etc" to the match. HBK loses by some heel shenanigans. This allows HBK sometime off to whatever he has to do. And if and when he does return noone will cry because we all know that anytime there is a stip about being fired it never sticks. And on the slight chance he doesn't return the reason why is already in place. This is all speculation of course and I know how CRZ feels about that. But we'll see I guess.

No offense the the windy city, but this mania has no shot at being good. It's in Chicago. Mania 2 sucked, Mania 13 sucked, and last year when I head "Chicago" I knew this one was gonna suck. Its weird, Chicago is such a great wrestling city, really hot crowds, and every other ppv from there is at least pretty good, and yet with the exception of Austin-Hart at 13, I can't recall a good mania match there.
