I have two accounts on my computer which is running Windows XP. I want to only have one, but when I try and delete it in the control panels it keeps getting hung up during the deletion process and I get the this program is not responding message ... any thoughts?

Which account are you deleting? Is it the administrator account?

Yes, I also tried switching it down to a limited account ... I still get the same result.

Windows XP does not allow you to delete the administrator account, just in case you screw something up with your other accounts you'll still be able to access a full admin account.

If you have only one other account besides the admin, then I'm not sure why you need to do this anyway. Admin doesn't show up on the log in screen without some altering of the system so you'd never notice it's there unless you really wanted to.

If anything, your account should be limited in scope and you should only log in with the administrator account for tasks that require that level of access.

Don't delete your administrator account.

Basically they both show up on the screen after I start up my computer. They were set up because we thought it'd be handy to have our own access, but we only use one because it's just easier. It's not really a huge deal there just seems like no point to having two of them set up.
