Given how Jack's hair has morphed throughout his flashbacks, I'm glad that they waited to do Sawyer's next flashback once he could cut his hair.
I loved how right after Kate told Sawyer to go warn Locke, Sawyer had the "the trick to a con is to get the other person to want to do what you want them to do" flashback.
So Sawyer's come across Jack's dad and Kate's mom. Interesting.
I find it interesting that this season they seem to be undoing alot of the redemption people had found on the island last season. Sawyer has regained his evil outcast status, and Charlie is once again a reviled drug user (even though he isn't using, which is a great touch!)
I hate how deceptive the previews are. If its not the baby floating on the water in a dream sequence, its Sun being kidnapped but not by the Others. That said, next week's ep looks insane! (but they always do!)
There's that manuscript I've heard rumours about. Hooray for multimedia marketing!

The nWo theme should totally play anytime Sawyer and Charlie show up anywhere.
I think this episode more than anything solidified my feeling that Sawyer is probably the best-developed and most interesting character on the island. I love, too, how even by doing something so completely dickish, you had sympathy for him and at least understood his motivation. Ideally, that's how you're supposed to write someone who could potentially be a villain, although that's not always executed convincingly.
Additionally, tonight's episode made Charlie's character that much more interesting, and I love how he's becoming the go-to creepy guy whose primary motivation in life is to ruin Locke as he feels Locke ruined him. It also solidifed my feeling that he'll be in the sand by the end of the season.

The castaways are paranoid (rightfully so given past similar events) that it's one of The Others. The recap closes with a tease that Sayid is going to torture him in order to get the answers...well, answers he thinks he's going to get.

Reposted on: 9.2.13 0316.43 | Definitely one of the better episodes of LOST, up there with Eko's flashback. Got to love the look on Locke and Jack's faces after Sawyer made his entrance. Charlie reveals that he's pretty freaking worthless.
Anyway, I actually liked the way the writers threw in some references that most viewers will miss. Hurley and Sayid listening to Glenn Miller is kind of funny because Miller disappeared in a plane crash. Locke holding the copy of Occurence at Owl Creek Bridge is interesting because the end of the story is a total swerve. The screenplay Hurley was reading was by Gary Troup, who's name is an anagram for purgatory.
As long as they stay away from Jack, Kate, Claire and/or Charlie flashbacks, the show is pretty damn solid...

It also set up a 3 way power struggle between Sawyer, Locke & Jack. I liked how he used Charlie as his henchman and you know it is only a metter of time before Sawyer turns on Charlie as well. I look forward to Sayid turning back to his Republican Guard side and I wonder where does Eko fall into all of the goings on - he could be the player that tips the scale in someone's favor. As it is playing out, the Others don't have to do a thing as they sit back and watch the survivors slowly implode.

Fleshed out indeed, but fleshed out in such a way that I really want him to be the next one who is found face down in the sand. Charlie really irritates me. Him "turning to the dark side" was awesome, very well done, and makes him interesting again. But I still would love to see him killed off. | pieman

That's what we were thinking, too. The Others don't really need to do anything. You give any group of people the situation these survivors are facing and there is bound to be conflict and turmoil. I made the original comment thinking that the quote was never spoken on the show itself.
