It would've had to have been five rounds of a pure slugfest to live up to the hype, so in that sense, the fight was disappointing. Even still, it was a good mano-a-mano bout that really put both men's styles into full view. It was decisive, which was the best result; it would've been pretty craptacular if the fight had been stopped because of Couture's cut. Liddell is going to lay the smack down on Sobral in a few months.

Other than the main event, it was a good (if unspectacular) night of fights. It was the best night for heavyweights I've seen in a while, as every heavyweight fight had good action, well-conditioned fighters and little of the clutching and grabbing that so often plagues the HW division. Brandon Vera looked really good, as did Jeff Munson winning his match with a DRAGON SLEEPER~~~!

Mir got whipped, which no doubt has Dana White tearing his last two hairs out. Mir will need some serious rehab if the long-awaited fight with Andrei can happen, since Mir took a pretty decisive loss to a pretty unheralded fighter.

What class. A guy retires from something that takes his entire mind and body twenty four hours a day for years and takes time to take pictures with everyone who asked and sign every autograph when anyone in the world would just want to be alone with his thoughts.

Chuck really showed he's the man. Randy slipped and Chuck pounced on it in an instant to put him down. You see some guys hesitate when they have an advantage, or not even see the place to take the advantage. Chuck sees it, takes it and finishes with no waiting. A rematch with Sobral should be good. Sad to see Randy go though, he's one of a kind.

Vera's KO kick was nice, as was Munson's choke. Best part was when Hinkle came to and didn't know what the hell happened to him. Diaz vs Riggs was probably the best fight overall. I like Diaz, good fighter with some personality. Even though I know it's normal practice to rehydrate after weigh-in, I wasn't thrilled with Riggs fighting a welterweight match at light heavyweight size. That's a case that makes me want to see the NSAC do the weigh-ins on the morning of the fight.

If you make weight, you make weight. You have to give the fighers 24 hours to rehydrate or everything would be way #$%#ed up. Barely anyone could cut down a weight class, lots of heavy's couldn't make the 265 limit.

It looks like we will never see the Silva/Liddel fight because the UFC will feed Chuck Babalu, then Tito or Forrest, then maybe Rampage. Nobody in the UFC now is going to stop him, period.
