| #1 Posted on 31.1.06 0744.49 Reposted on: 31.1.13 0750.11 | With the recent passing of Rosa Parks and now Coretta Scott King, you have to look back at the changes in our country over the last 60 years or so and wonder how they would be different if it were not for these two most remarkable women.
While Parks was a pioneer in her own sense, King was thrust into the position she was by the dynamic nature of her husband and the details of his untimely death. But Mrs King could have played the role of the widow and faded into the background - done important personal things, but remained rather unimportant. But that wasn't Mrs. King's way. She wasn;t out there 24/7, but when it was really important.
I salute her for her years of strength and for her dedication to her husband - and the ideals he fought for.
All in all, I think you'd have to say Mrs. King's life was quite astoundingly effective. | Promote this thread! |  | Brian P. Dermody
