| #1 Posted on 24.1.06 1738.07 Reposted on: 24.1.13 1738.12 | Barry Bonds has decided he will not play for the US team in the World Baseball Classic. Bonds says that he doesn't want to risk injury. Stephen A. Smith says that his sudden withdrawal from the Classic, after months of saying he would play, adds to the suspicion that Bonds is doped up on something (because the WBC will be played under international rules and therefore will implement drug testing).
Until Smith made his comment, I never thought about such a thing. I personally don't buy into all of the Bonds steroid rumors (I figure that even if true, he's still a ridiculously skilled player), but it's an interesting theory.

With the allegations against him in the past, that's what a LOT of people are going to assume. I don't know whether that's fair or not, or that I necessarily agree with it, but people have equated him so much with doping that it's going to automatically come up no matter what he says. I personally think it has more to do with Bonds coming off an injury that had him sidelined for the vast majority of the season, and he ain't getting any younger...then again, I'm also one of those people that has always suspected some manner of doping on his part. | It's False
