Reese did win for Best Actress in a Musical or Comedy. Freeway must've just missed it in his list. | Matt Tracker

How Arrested Development didn't win astounds me. "Desperate Housewives" is on the way out, isn't it? I don't think it even has the "Everybody Loves Raymond"/"we got a lotta pull" factor going for it.

Does it even occur to you that these films might've won because, oh, say, they DESRVE IT? No, you're right, Hollywood's just full o' queers wanting to foist their lifestyle upon the innocent hetero-world. Jesus. How exactly does that jive again with most of the other awards being won by a film about the romance and marriage of two devout Evangelical Christians again? Or are we just ignoring that part?
And I understand that the movies all have teh gay and that "Commander-In-Chief" is part of the secret plot to plant hypnotic suggestions in the mind of middle America to vote for Hillary Clinton, but how exactly does "Desperate Housewives" fall into the librul Commie plot? Are we trying to take over by forcing people to watch overrated and overhyped tepid crap or is there something more insidious at work here? | Matt Tracker

I believe the thought process involves the creator of Desperate Housewives, who just happens to be gay. I didn't even realise this until I was reading a review of The Book of Daniel.
The reviewer theorised that the only reason TBOD was on the air was because the network saw how well the last hourlong drama created by a homosexual did, and is hoping for lightning to strike twice. | oldschoolhero

Brokeback is an excellent and daring drama, which doesn't paint homosexuality as anything other than what it is. I think, with time, Munich MAY be valued as the stronger of the two, but I can see why the movie hasn't proven as instantly likeable and gripping. And of those on the slate it could've been either of those two, as they were head-and-shoulders above the remainder of the nominees. Transamerica is not as strong as a movie, but Huffman is excellent. Same with Geena Davis winning-of the little I've seen of Commander-In-Chief she seems to transcend the soapy material. Plus her speech was excellent. Desperate Housewives is garbage, of course, but that was always going to win. So there you are. My expanded thoughts on the subject. Have those being so accusatory about a secret agenda bothered to see them?
