However, for ages she was just 'one of the crowd' and we ended up being good friends for at least two years. Then one Christmas, things started 'happening' between us, culminating in what was meant to be a joke kiss under the miseltoe in front of all our football friends (who'd dared us to after a match) that, shall we say, lingered a little too long.
For the next month, said friends talked about nothing else and teased both of us relentlessly, but we barely saw each other due to strange work schedules and me being on a skiing holiday. By the time I got back, I had made up my mind that this was worth a shot (had previously been worried about ruining what had been up to then a great friendship) and told her "well, everyone seems to think we're already dating, so why not?"
It was only after we started going out that we discovered how much else we had in common besides football and things took off from there. Two years later she moved in with me, then after another two years we got married (May 2004).

The spilling drink bit always seems to work in one way or another. I remember my girlfriends' and my first date: I tripped on the rug (!!!) at the fast food restaurant we were dining at, and knocked over my soda, soaking the table and rug around her. She wasn't at the table, so she was safe from the accident, but regardless...she must have thought my clumsiness was endearing, because two months later, we're still together :-) | Kevintripod

Hell, before the time that we actually started seeing each other, I was to the point of putting her on ignore, but just never did. Now nearly 4 years later, we've been living together for over 3 years, even if it meant me moving to Texas.
