So, there's a PPV tonight. No, I swear to god, that actually is.

In the Heat match, Chavo Guerrero d. Gene Snitsky. Chavo won with a frogsplash. His frogsplash is improving, and he should keep using it as a finisher in tribute to Eddie, like Eddie did with Art Barr.

Coach is the only color commentator tonight, so we're in for an even longer night than when we first thought.

Ric Flair d. Edge via DQ. Pretty good match. Edge hits Flair with the briefcase and is DQed. Flair gigged. If this means they have a re-match at Royal Rumble, and then Edge gets a title shot at WrestleMania, then I'm all for this. If not, then that finish sucked.

Kurt Angle made some horrible comments (I hope US loses the war, I don't like black people (he really said this)) and then revealed it was just to show that he'd say whatever he wanted and the fans would still cheer. And they did. Christ.

Trish Stratus d. Mickie James to retain the WWE Women's Title. Good match. Trish won with a chick-kick.

SHELTON'S MAMA (~!) arrived with Shelton, and is making him eat.

Jerry Lawler d. Gregory Helms. Yes, Lawler won. I don't know why, either. The match was pretty good, but nobody cared.

Viscera hit on Shelton's Mama. This show rules. I never thought I'd be a Viscera fan, but after his Trish vignettes last spring, as well as this... well... Viscera is a great, great man in my book. Viscera wanted to be her daddy. She wasn't happy, and this sets up Viscera vs. Shelton.

Triple H d. Big Show. Slow match, but the psychology was there. Hunter hit Show with a sledgehammer and won with a pedigree.

Carlito talked with Chris Masters. Good lord, Masters really isn't letting the drug-testing talk effect him.

They worked a 'you screwed Bret' chant into the Royal Rumble. What the hell has gotten into Vince lately?

Lawler is on commentary, thank god.

Shelton Benjamin and his MAMA is coming to the ring, presumably for a match with Viscera.

Shelton Benjamin d. Viscera. Mama hit Viscera with her purse and Shelton hit a spin-kick for the win. Seriously, the match sucked, but Shelton's Mama ROCKED~! She even shouted that if Benjamin won she would make him sweet potato pie. I was against the Shelton Mama thing at first, but the woman they hired is awesome.

Shawn & Vince had a confrontation, building towards what might be Shawn's worst WrestleMania match ever.

A WrestleMania 22 commercial aired, with the tag-line of 'Big Time'. This was straight out of the '80s.

Bra & Panties Gauntlet match is next. Maria beat Candice. Maria beat Torrie. Victoria beat Maria. Moolah & Mae Young then came out, and Mae stripped. The joke got old 5 years ago. Victoria beat them. Ashley then came down and immediatley stripped Victoria for the win.

John Cena d. Kurt Angle, Shawn Michaels, Chris Masters, Carlito, and Kane for the WWE Title in the Elimination Chamber is next. I hope Michaels & Angle have their working boots on, because this PPV needs a ***** classic, and that'll be hard with the other four (well, three... Carlito isn't too bad) in the match. Michaels & Cena are starting out, which might mean that Cena is working the WHOOOLE match. That could be bad. The crowd isn't even giving Cena a chance, booing him out of the building and then starting 'Cena sucks' chants. So much so, that Joey Styles actually brought it up, which is usually a no-no. Carlito is out next. He went after Cena and the crowd ROARED. He then hit an amazing no-hands flip-dive onto Michaels on the solid-steel. Wow. I didn't know Carlito had it in him. Angle is in next, and is the obvious crowd-favorite. He came in and suplexed everyone (including Shawn backfirst on the steel) and the crowd loved all of it. Angle tried to throw Shawn through the glass and it DIDN'T break! That's a first. Angle does, indeed, have his working shoes on. Angle had the ankle-lock on Carlito, and Carlito had to wait for Masters to save him. He was in there for WAY too long. Michaels superkicked Angle and pinned him. Yes, Angle was eliminated FIRST! This show sucks. Angle's elimination sucked all of the heat out of the building, aside from some 'Cena sucks' chants. Carlito & Masters both pinned Kane to eliminate him. Carlito pinned Michaels to eliminate him. Let it be known: At this moment, WWE fans are cheering for CHRIS MASTERS to win the WWE Title. Wow. Carlito pinned Masters. Cena pinned Carlito. Cena wins.

McMahon's music played. Edge cashes in his MITB match. Here we go. This PPV either gets good or goes down as the absolute fucking worst ever.

Edge d. John Cena to win the WWE Title. THANK THE LORD ALMIGHTY, EDGE IS WWE CHAMPION! JOHN CENA IS NOT!

The elimination chamber match lost all meaning for me as soon as Edge said he had other things to worry about when refusing to go on instant access. Though i did think it would be HBK winning the chamber, followed by Vince screwing him by encouraging Edge.

Do you hate Cena THAT much? Cuz your comments about the matches sure don't make it seem like the worst ever.

As much as Edge is "feces". I'll gladly take him over Cena as champ at this point.

No, I just got caught up in the moment (I don't really have any real problem with Cena, but his babyface title run had just gotten embarassing, and tonight it just hit me that he has to lose the title and the WWE needs to then re-tool his character if they want him to be the man). PPV wasn't very good, but not HORRIBLE. Just... blah.

Urgh. Edge winning the title should have gotten the mother of all heel pops, but since the crowd's hatred of Cena has fallen to insane levels for fucking inexplicable and unfair reasons, he suddenly becomes a superhero. (Yes, I've been on Matt Hardy's side of the story from day one in their whole tit-for-tat, so it really disgusts me to see Edge be the one to end Cena's run... especially when moving him to Smackdown and using it against Batista would've made loads more sense.)

At this moment, WWE fans are cheering for CHRIS MASTERS to win the WWE Title.

This is the proof that the backlash against Cena has just gone too far. This is the kind of shit that calls for locking the arena and turning it into a sanitarium.

Wasn't too impressed with the rest of the PPV either. It's so nice to see my faith in Trips to do the right thing get rewarded so handsomely once again. The only positive to Edge winning the title, really, is that he probably won't be in the title match at Wrestlemania again (which would have been his FIFTH in a row).

Between that, the Mae & Moolah appearance in the gauntlet, and Lawler beating Helms, the bookers needed to be screened under the new drug program for powerful hallucinogens.

I'm just disgusted with it all. Call me a Cena fan if you want, because I AM and I am proud of it. He's done nothing to deserve what the crowds have been doing to him.

Great move, I think!

I have a feeling, though, that WWE will pull a "Kane '98" and have Cena win the belt back tommorow on Raw, giving Edge a 1-day rein.

I am not a Cena hater but the title run had to end. I was thrilled to see Edge get his due AND a good payoff to the money in the bank angle. Good job.

Um...hmm.

Usually after a PPV, I have a thought one way or another on the end of it, how much I liked it etc. This one, not so much.

Cena may not be liked by many, but damn, dude didn't deserve to be crapped on like he was. Anytime he even landed a punch he was booed like crazy, and anytime someone mounted any form of offense on him, the roof blew off the joint. The EC lost a lot of the interest from me the moment Angle was eliminated, how in the FUCK is he the first one out? Before Kane, before Carlito, before Masters???

I had read on the Torch about the possibilty of Edge cashing in the MITB tonight, so was a little bit unsurprised, but seemed to be the topper on the ultimate dump night on Cena. I don't think he'll get a Kane Reign, but I don't see him holding it past the rumble.

I thought they gave up the "brick in the purse" secret wayy too early, and should have let Shelton believe he was actually doing the winning for a while before Mama let him in on the secret weapon. Mama is funny as hell.

I can't believe I'm actually saying this, but Trish/Mickie was probably one of the better matches tonight. Seemed a lot more physical to most women's matches. Then again, hearing Mickie talk about how their hot sweaty bodies didn't hurt neither.

For the first time in years however, Raw doesn't have a clearcut guy. Will Cena regain the gold? Will Edge be able to hold on? Will HHH be tired of not being in the spotlight and want the belt back?

Bring on the Rumble.

it was actually far from the worst ppv ever..it was actually pretty good.

Trish and Mickey put one of the best womans matches ive seen in years.

Big Show actually impressed me, would have been nice to see him win.

Edge winning was not expected at all, but was a long time coming. Imagine what hardy must feel like. Nice to see Edge finally take that leap though. Looks like he lost a lot of weight since the "drug policy".

Kinda feel for cena, but im sure heel be just fine.

Overall, worth the money.

Hopefully Cena can now turn heel and possibly duplicate what Rocky did and become really huge with the fans somewhere down the road.

Hmmmm... Flair vs. Edge isn't done yet, people.

Anyone think Flair drops the IC belt soon... leading to Ric Flair winning the World Title? (possibly at Wrestlemania...)

Right now, Angle vs. Edge doesn't make sense. Flair is the only clear-cut face on RAW who has an issue with Edge and could compete in the main event.

1. I've still yet to see a legitimate reason for people to hate Cena so much, but in the age of the too-cool-for-school internet fan "reasoning" has generally taken a back seat. I actually thought having him as champion was a damn entertaining change, especially lately. The crowds are hotter for Cena matches than they are anything else thanks to the fans fighting back and forth. This may be the end of that since there's nothing riding on the outcome now. Cena turning heel right away would seem a tad disingenuous, although that wouldn't stop them from doing it I'm sure.

2. We've seen this Edge thing before...wrestler X does something wrong, the internet fans get mad and retaliate since they didn't like the guy to begin with, Vince gives wrestler X mega-push. Doesn't make for entertaining television, but it's fun to watch a guy shit on his own company just to spite a certain section of the fanbase.

Got the PPV as part of the DirecTV three-for-$89, and went in not expecting much beyond enjoying the Elimination Chamber match (which, while a bit hokey, I've always enjoyed in the past). I liked seeing Masters and Carlito team up for quite a while in the match, even beyond that would have been the typical swerve-point in such situations (although it ultimately came). Angle can play the manic, I'm-going-to-eat-your-soul-and-spit-it-out, crazy nut to the hilt, and I enjoyed him here, although surprised to see him be the first to leave.

I thought Cena did an excellent job in the match, and frankly it's a shame that they wrote him into a corner over the past couple of months with all the patchwork "you're our Austin to Eric's McMahon" storylines that killed a lot of his heat. He'll be alright in the long run, though. The guy's too good (yes, I said it) to not bounce back from this.

Didn't read any spoilers so I was surprised to see Edge pop up as well at the end, and with that happening, was fine to see him get the belt.

Beyond that, Trish/Mickie was decent, although I'm already really starting to get tired of James' character now. Perhaps that's a good thing though ... if we're SUPPOSED to hate her, that is. Would have liked to have seen Helms win his match. No problem with the Big Show/HHH match.

So I can't complain overall here. Not the greatest PPV in the past few months, but wasn't the car-wreck it could have been.

Certain section, my ass. If anybody saw the PPV tonight, they know that the anti-Cena heat had gotten to the point where they just can't keep the belt on him. Angle punked out Jesus Christ and got a face pop. It was time to do something drastic.

That said, the Edge title win was no doubt a panic move. No clue what their plan is right now, as I'm sure they didn't see Cena's face heat deteriorating so heavily in the last two months or so.

That would be unbelievably stupid, so no, I hope that doesn't happen.

So, where do they go w/ Edge now? He's still recovering from an injury (making BOTH brands' champs injured - good move WWE!), and he's been treading water in the midcard for months on end. Do the fans really care that much either way about Edge to make them put the belt on him? I could see in the wake of the Matt Hardy situation, when he was getting huge heat, but not now. Plus, doing a change like this is not how they should deal w/ the heel heat Cena has been drawing.

Who does Edge feud with? The only true face is HBK, who is tied up w/ Vince. The fans aren't going to cheer Cena right now. Angle is technically still a heel, and I'd argue the huge face heat he's been getting is only because he's been opposite Cena (put him against HBK - would Angle be as over as a face?). Edge has already feuded w/ Kane. Edge/HHH doesn't sound very appealing. I don't think the company has really thought this decision through.

I'd have kept the belt on Cena, with an eye towards feuding him w/ a returning RVD. Of course, they have no plans on pushing RVD, so what do I know?
