I just hope this year doesn't further delude the idiots in charge of the BCS that their system actually works.

When it comes up for a vote again in around five years, we'll see. If the BCS conference schools determine there is more money in a playoff system, I'm sure there will be one. (hint - there's not. that's why there is no playoff system)

The biggest mistake Carroll made was taking his LAST TIME OUT before the two point conversion. If he keeps the TO, then Lienart can go over the middle with his last pass, get some yards, call a TO and try a game tying field goal. And then in OT, well I am pretty sure it would have come down to a missed field goal or extra point as both teams probaby would have scored at will. But alas, Carroll proves he has no concept how to manage a game.

I heard yesterday that it was one of the defensive backs that called the time out, not Carroll. And I think they kept that fairly low key because Carroll didn't want the kid to get a ton of negative press.

See, now if all the lemmings out there understood this very basic fact, then the rest of us who comprehend the purpose of the BCS's existence wouldn't have to listen to you whine and complain as much. There's just too much money and tradition in the system as it exists now. If there is ever a playoff in college football, it certainly won't be during our lifetimes...

You must be hating life now because the NFL playoffs are making the whole regular season MEANINGLESS!!!


I for one HATE the BCS (a championship series in which three of the four games in the series don't impact the championship???) and want a playoff, but the BCS is designed to make the #1 team face the #2 team and it did that job perfectly this year.

I think there needs to be a playoff to provide a little more legitimacy to the championship, but the BCS did the job it was designed to do, and it's hard to argue with that.

I don't know where you heard this, but I *do* remember watching highlights of the game on SportsCenter and you can very clearly see a USC player calling for a timeout. I just assumed he was only echoing the coach's call, though. Where'd you get this info?
