Results from the TNA tapings held tonight:

Team 3-D b Lex Lovett & Buck Quartermain (this may have been a dark match or Xplosion match, or could be the TV opener for Saturday)

Matches and segments for sure on Saturday

The Naturals b Apolo & Homicide via DQ when Konnan interfered. Very quick match. Crowd loved Homicide to the point when the James Boys made the save, they were chanting for Homicide. I don't think TNA is happy right at this moment with the audience that saved and made the promotion, as you'll see more evidence of

Ron Killings b Bobby Roode in seconds
Roode wanted a rematch, and Killings pinned him in seconds again
Roode wanted a rematch, and then beat Killings. No, it doesn't make sense to me either

Alex Shelley & Austin Aries & Roderick Strong b A.J. Styles & Chris Sabin & Christopher Daniels. Shelley & Aries & Strong have been put together as a heel group with a push. Crowd loved this match and I was told it was a super match live. Shelley pinned Sabin with a shiranui

Next came the segment where Jeff Jarrett's group was to make fun of Sting. To say this died live would be an understatement. As soon as Jarrett came out, the "boring" chants were so loud you couldn't make out what he was saying. What we could figure out is Eric Young came out as the 1988 Sting, Chris Harris came out as the 1997 Sting, and then Monty Brown came out wearing a wig, golf shirt and baby carraige, as the 2006 Sting. The chants were so loud nobody knows much, but the chants got creative as this segment went 15:00 and "seemed" beyond awful (it may play a lot better if you can hear the dialogue). People were leaving in droves as it went on, with chants of "Wrap it up," "We Want Wrestling," "This is lame," and more.

For January 14th

Abyss b Jay Lethal

A.J. Styles was given the award as Mr. TNA for the third straight year. This segment backfired because of the loud chants of "Joe got screwed." Styles was visibly unhappy with the reaction. Shannon Moore stole the award to set up their angle.

Samoa Joe b Cassidy Riley with a choke

Eric Young & A-1 & Petey Williams b Chris Sabin & Sonjay Dutt & Matt Bentley when Shelley tripped Sabin leading to the Canadian Destroyer by Williams on him for the pin.

Christian & Rhino b Chris Harris & James Storm in a non-title match when Christian pinned Harris. Crowd was dead for everything after the Sting segment. No Sting on television apparently.

------

Well, at least Cena isn't the most hated world champ out there....

"Joe Got Screwed". HA! That's fantastic.... but following the 'Cena rule', they have to turn A.J. THEY ARE SICK OF HIM! Probably because of his weak ring work and rapping.... wait, I'm thinking of something different.

Never seen Homicide wrestle, but hear he's pretty good and has the following.

So... is it good that a crowd is that 'smart'?

I don't think they worry as much "smart" vs "dumb" as "easy" vs "hard" - it doesn't matter what they know (or what they think they know) as long as they're willing to go along with what you're giving. The Orlando crowd seems very fussy when they're not given exactly what they want, which I seem to remember being a problem after a time in Memphis.

Since they've been reacting harshly to Jarrett promos/segments seemingly forever and they're still doing Jarrett promos/segments, you'd think they'd figure the wacky chants aren't worth their time by now.

Anyway, I don't neccesarily believe the opinions of whoever wrote this report (odd of Dave to snip the author), because when they write lines like

I don't think TNA is happy right at this moment with the audience that saved and made the promotion

it's hard to take them seriously.

You gotta almost feel bad for AJ. But on one hand, if they ever wanna make Joe a "face", have Jarrett attack him. Easiest ... face turn ... ever ...

I just don't get the big deal of Shannon Moore. You're taking one of your top 3 guys (AJ) and feuding him with an ex-WWE guy that wasn't even a mid-carder.

The primetime New Year's Eve broadcast hyped a new signing that they couldn't formally announce until after midnight. The TNA homepage lists a Tanahasi from New Japan matching up against Styles at the Jan. 15 PPV. This can't be who they were talking about, right? Were they announcing the formal signing of Jackie?

Also, Sting is listed as a tag partner for Christian against JJ and Brown for the PPV. I'm disappointed and can only guess that Sting will provide hot-tag offense.

Sting was the guy they couldn't officially announce until midnight for some reason, and after they made the announcement, Christian announced he'd be teaming up with Sting to take on Jarrett & Brown.

Words simply can not express how happy I would be if they turn Christian and then Sting gives him what little rub he might be able to at this stage in his career. They don't even need to feud over a belt... Meanwhile, Monty takes the belt from Double J and then we have Monty vs. Christian.

I hate fantasy booking... always gets my hopes up.

Yeah people are tired of Jarrett, but the "Joe got screwed" chants mean nothing other than they love Joe. I don't think anyone is tired of seeing AJ, he's just slipped to #2 with the Orlando fans. As for the Jarrett segment, I'm actually looking forward to it. Eric Young is very entertaining, I'm especially looking forward to his part in it.

I don't get why people are so much against the Styles/Shannon feud. Yes, Shannon was a low midcarder at best, but how far did AJ go? How far did Daniels go? Just about all the guys in X Division have had tryouts or Velocity matches at some point, and Shannon made it farther than any of them in the big leagues. This Punk'd character of his gives him some character and if you go back to his 3 Count days he can definitely wrestle the X Division style. So I've got no problem with a Styles/Shannon feud.

Finally, it's great to see that Aries, Strong, and Shelley got a win over Daniels, Styles, and Sabin (all ex-X Division champions), looks like the three of them are going to get seriously pushed, especially Shelley.

I'd really like to see those guys become a Triple X-esque stable.

I have a couple of questions:

1. Will they call themselves Generation Next, or would that be too blatantly borrowing from ROH?

2. Can this somehow lead to bringing in my favorite member of Gen X, the totally fliptastic and possibly completely insane Jack Evans?

So, is Sting just not gonna appear until the PPV?

And in 2006 Sting has turned into a large black man. And that segment went on for 15 minutes!! It just sounds horrendous.

Jarrett should take a lesson from all of this, and even though he wont, it will at least make me feel better to say it:

Jeff, you are not Triple H! The fans dont boo you because your a heel, they boo you because you are the most boring performer in the promotion! For the sake of the promotion, please take a back seat, put the title on someone else, and watch what could happen!

As far as Sting goes, it will be real interesting to see how they work him into this whole mix. I'm sure his contract has provisions out the wazoo, so who knows how many matches he will actually wrestle in. He, unlike Jarrett, is a name at least, and if marketed and used correctly, could help with viewers and buyrates, if for nothing else, to get people to see what the other talent is all about.

Right now, they are using Christian very well, and I hope that continues.

And remember, Paul Heyman isnt the only man who can take the WWE's garbage and turn it into a viable product. Lets give the creative team in TNA a little bit of a chance before we pass judgement overall.
