| #1 Posted on 23.12.05 1113.45 Reposted on: 23.12.12 1116.27 | ATLANTA, Dec. 7 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- The Coca-Cola Company today announced that it will launch Coca-Cola Blak in January in France, the first of several countries -- including the United States -- that are expected to introduce the new cola-coffee beverage in 2006.
Coca-Cola Blak is an invigorating and stimulating blend that has a perfect balance of the effervescent taste sensation of Coca-Cola and natural flavors, with real coffee. The lightly carbonated, mid-calorie beverage, which is designed to appeal to adult consumers, is yet another example how The Coca-Cola Company reaches out to new audiences and addresses new beverage occasions.
"Coca-Cola Blak is not just a flavor extension. It is a blend of unique Coke refreshment with the true essence of coffee and has a rich smooth texture and has a coffee-like froth when poured. We believe we have created a new category of soft drink -- an adult product in a carbonated beverage -- and a whole new drinking experience. This brand is ideal for any part of the day when people are looking for renewed energy or simply to take a break," said Marc Mathieu, vice president, Global Core Brands, The Coca-Cola Company.
The launch will be supported by television, print, outdoor and in-store communication. Global advertising and creative for the brand is currently under development.

I think you underestimate not only the addiction to Coke (or other sodas) that many people have, but also the brand recognition Coca-Cola enjoys. | FurryHippie

I remember it tasting like Coca-cola with coffee in it. I was addicted to it, and I don't like Coca-Cola or Coffee, but together it was amazing.
I'll try this stuff when it comes out, as I have wanted to have more coffee-soda, and haven't found any. | StingArmy

Give it back to you? Where did it go? I see it at the grocery store every week.
As for coffee-flavored soda, anybody ever try Jolt? I swear that stuff tastes like cold, kinda flat coffee. Has about as much caffeine too, if I remember correctly.

Not to start a fight, but I actually would be surprised that Coke would be *that popular in France, given the Franco-American relationship (see: EuroDisney). Or possibly that's more of their politicians demagoging American symbols, as ours do with "Freedom Fries" and such from time to time.
Back to the product, I have a four-can-a-day coke habit, but that's my caffeine source. Never got around to liking coffee. | BigSteve

Umm...are you that lazy you paid for Vanilla Coke when it's been around long before they put it in Coke. Simple...go to the store buy some Vanilla syrup and pour some into your Coke.

So, presto, vanilla coke the real way. VERY nice. They also have banana (seems an odd choice to me), lime, and chocolate. Hmmm...chocolate root beer might be nice.
I'm told this is common at 7-11s now and started recently. Good idea from them. | ManiacalClown

Chocolate flavoring tastes like Tootsie Rolls so if you like those, you'll love the flavoring.
