I won't "spoil" it for anyone, although considering there's been no Survivor thread for months...I don't think there's much interest.

So...was everyone as "underwhelmed" as I was with this season? The "reunion" show was one of the more entertaining ones in recent memory though.

Due to a new kidlet and moving, I really have not gotten to watch this season at all. We did get to watch last night, though.

I was surprised at the relative lack of venom at the final tribal council. I was also surprised at how much better the gals looked without the caked-on makeup.

The final challenge was brutally awesome as well. When they showed the platforms, my wife and I both were very interested to see how that would play out.

Overall, not a bad ending.

I really actually liked this season because it had so many good characters. You had a few people coasting and then a bunch trying really hard to just stir things up and hope they land on their feet.

The Finale, however, really disappointed me. Of the final three, Stephanie and Rafe were the only ones that deserved to win. Other than the ouster of Judd and the forced ouster of Cindy, Danni wasn't really involved in any of the game playing, which allowed her to skate right into victory. Of the three of them, only Rafe deserved to win, because he was clearly the most dominant player in the game from both a strategy and a performance standpoint, but Stephanie at least engineered the strategic half of the game, and it's too bad the jury never looks at that stuff.

I also didn't like how the final challenge was weighted it's always been an endurance/balance test, but the portion after you got situated against the pole clearly favored somebody with longer legs, as you could pretty much just prop yourself up and sit.

That final challenge seemed a little bogus to me too. What was the point in hoping to balance after letting go of the final rope? You had more of an advantage if you DID slip, then prop yourself up.

It felt as if they made up the rules as they went after everyone fell. I would've preferred that they all hang on the rope as long as possible instead of what they did.

...oh, yeah, and Judd is kind of a tool...

Judd is a HUGE t00l. I hate when people pull that "I'm just brutally honest, I'm not afraid to speak my mind" crap. People like Judd just use that as an excuse to be an ass.

This season was the first one I've ever watched, and I only joined in right when the blonde NY cop chick who knew the NFL guy was got the boot (you know, whats-her-face).

I've never been a fan of contest/kick-people-off reality shows (I'm more into the "day in the life of" shows like "Breaking Bonaduce"), but Survivor was pretty fun & addicting. I was pulling for Lydia or Rafe or Gary the whole time, so I was sorry to see them go. I'm ok with Dani winning, but I thought her victory was pretty anti-climactic, as was the final jury voting segment. As long as Steph or Judd didnt win, I was ok with it.

Worst move of the year: Cindy fails to give away the 4 cars.

Here's my theory as to why ...

1) She maintains a better chance of moving into the winner's seat. What she did was greedy.

2) The winner of the million dollars also gets a car.

3) If history shows us anything, good behavior is rewarded. Matthew in Amazon let everyone visit with their loved ones in lieu of him spending time with his mama. However, he got time with his mom anyway. There were 5 cars on the island. I suspect car #5 would have been Cindy's ... and if not ...

4) Even if she fails to win, the winner gets a car. However, in All-Stars, Amber had to give her car away because she already had one. Knowing this, is there anyway that anyone who doesn't win DOESN'T give Cindy the car anyway?!?

So basically, by giving away the car, in the end she's GONNA get one anyway (either by Survivor generousity, or the winner giving her a car), and increases her odds of winning the whole damn game.

Dumb move ....

Good on Danni for finding a way to slide on into that Final 3. How she managed to kick of Lydia before herself baffles me, but she played a great game.

We haven't missed a season yet and while there were some good moments in this episode, it wasn't one of the better ones. Most of the early eliminations were very forgettable, I couldn't even place them during the review of the fallen survivors. As for those that I could remember or made an impression, Dani got lucky by having long legs, Rafe made a bonehead maneuver in giving the $100K 2nd place spot to Steph, Steph only had a chance at the $1m if she was up against Bobby John because no was giving it to her based on her having played the game before, Judd was a great team player when the challenges are more physical but never realized that he would be a target once it went to individual challenges, Lydia may have been the most useless Survivor ever, Cindy made the right move for herself in keeping the car but probably did screw herself in the game and Gary Hogeboom should be surprised that anyone recognized him at all after his very forgettable football career.

Jeff Probst has become more evil and more a part of the game as each season goes on. They should just stop production if they can't get him re-signed for next fall. This January's next episode, "Exile Island", looks like it will be a lot of fun to watch no matter how many models, wannabe actors looking for a clip to add to their loop and morons they cast.

Cindy was in a very bad situation there. Who would want to take her to the final two if she had given the other four cars? She would have three likely votes on the jury just form the three others that she had given cars to. Like she said, giving the cars away didn't guarantee her anything. Lydia and Steph both said they'd have taken the car, too. Rafe was the only one upset over the thing.

Probst recently signed an extension. I think, even though this article (usatoday.com) doesn't specify, that it runs through Spring 2008.

And this is why I've enjoyed this season more than others. It's like someone told him to start calling out the contestants on their bullshit at tribal council and their lack of performance in challenges(witness Lydia this season.) A bitchy Probst is a fun Probst.

That's making a LOT of assumptions. The only sure thing was keeping the car guarantees she wins a car. I would have been afraid, as I'm sure she was, that I would give away the cars and then turn around and get voted out anyway, and then you would feel like a huge dumbass for giving away a car. Personally, unless I felt VERY good about my chances of winning, I would have taken the sure thing (of course, I wouldn't have bragged about taking the sure thing as Cindy did).

As far as the game goes, up until last night, I thought Rafe and only Rafe deserved to win this thing. He was calling all the shots, while allowing everyone think that Steph was calling all the shots, and thus using her as a shield setting up a F2 he could win. Stephanie didn't deserve to win because she kept letting Rafe call the shots to her own determent. It would be nice if juries weren't vindictive and understood it's just a game. But after all these seasons of Survivor, we all know it's not a matter of if there will be vindictive jury members, but how many. So as a player, you have to factor that into your strategy. Steph seemed to realize she was losing jury votes, but did nothing to change that. She continuously back-stabbed too early, making it a virtual guarantee that she wouldn't win.

But of course Rafe got stupid at the end, with his "moral compass". Danni didn't do anything great strategically (I'll give her credit for helping ensure that Judd went when he did), but was smart enough to allow everyone else to self-destruct, so she wins.

There's a JUDD in every season. The guy who thinks everybody is just supposed to vote each other out, and that he is entitled to the money. He was blindsided when his pal Jamie or whatever his crazy ass name was, got voted out. He should have seen it coming. The whole "you lied to my wife" bullshit, I wish Steph would have just started punking him out for all the lies HE told.

And, why is it that when somebody says "YOU BACKSTABBED ME" the final two never say "Look to your side, THEY ALL SCREWED YOU TOO! IT WASNT JUST ME!"

People are petty. I was rooting for Steph more because she was the one picking her way through the field to the end, although ges makes a good point that Rafe was able to talk her into voting off Steph's stronger allies before his own. But I was amazed that Bobby Jon or Steph made it to the merge, much less the final two.

Salvaging the sacred sacrificial chicken was hilarious. You'd think Taker was in the background just waiting for his cue to smite them with a thunderbolt. The final four show is getting a bit too pro-forma now, challenge, vote, walk of remembrance®, endurance challenge, vote, final tribal. Not much maneuvering to do when you get down to the last couple players.

Danni can't be faulted too much for playing from the wrong side of the post-merge alliance - you're pretty much stuck hoping that the rest self-destruct, which happened when Rafe overthought things, and didn't take Lydia to the last three. But this wasn't nearly as impressive as Chris waiting out the alliance of 6 women on Vanuatu.

Going into the final tribal council, I had Danni winning 5-2 (Rafe and Bobby Jon for Steph - and I'd like to know what happened with that vote) I said maybe she could sway Gary for being more of a competitor, but 4-3 was as close as the "biggest loser in the history of this game"© would get in the end.

In closing, people are petty.

We have also watched them all and found this pretty forgettable.

Rafe reminded me of Ian from the last time. He shouldn't have released Danni from her promise. He may not have won either, but he might have.

Damn moral compasses.

I believe the final vote went 6-1...with only Rafe voting for Steph.

Rafe vs Steph final 2 would have been more interesting.

They really needed to get rid of Danni when they got rid of Lydia. No way does Lydia beat either one of them in a balance/endurance final challenge.

Why do people put their "I'll take you to the final 3" promises ahead of possibly WINNING?
