Barring any unforseen circumstances, I should get to be at Turning Point this Sunday, making it the second straight PPV for TNA that I've seen live. Here's a rundown of the card:

NWA World Heavyweight Title Match - Jeff Jarrett (c) vs. Rhino

The rubber match between the two. Though, with Christian Cage showing up in TNA, I honestly don't see Rhino winning this. WINNER: JEFF JARRETT

X Championship - A.J. Styles (c) vs. Samoa Joe

The irrestible force meets the immovable object. May steal the show. But I think Joe's undefeated streak makes for more than Styles' dominance of the X Division. Besides, it sets up a great feud between Joe and Chris Daniels, once Daniels returns. WINNER: SAMOA JOE

Tables Match - AMW (c) vs. Team 3D

Not really sure if this is for the NWA Tag Team Titles. If it is, my gut instinct is that AMW wins through some sort of chicanery. If not, Team 3D has a chance. However, I don't recall the Dudleys winning that many tables matches in recent history, either. WINNER: AMW

Barbed Wire Massacre - Abyss vs. Sabu

I was a little underwhelmed by last month's No DQ match, but the ending of the match made up for it. The way they've been booking, it seems that Abyss may be getting over his "fear" of the barbed wire, and pull out another win over Sabu. Odds are 3:1 in favor of Sabu committing suicide in this match. WINNER: ABYSS

Christian Cage vs. the Alpha Male Monty Brown

It's a weird spot that they've booked themselves into with this one. After winning the contender's match last month against Jeff Hardy, Brown should be the #1 contender. But TNA would have to be complete idiots to have Christian lose his first PPV match with TNA - especially since they're pushing a Jarrett-Cage feud. Besides, I don't like Brown's chances for another title shot with Jarrett, after seeing how Final Resolution turned out in January. WINNER: CHRISTIAN CAGE

Raven vs. An Opponent of Larry Zbyszko's choosing

Hard to tell this one, obviously. At Genesis last month, it was the Artist Formerly Known As Justin Credible, and Raven beat him. On Impact, it was a 3-on-1 in a House of Fun match, which Raven lost. There's not anyone else on the TNA roster that I would find to be an impressive match 1-on-1, unless someone from the rest of this card wrestles twice. And it's hard to tell where they're going with this angle. WINNER: (pick 'em)

Chris Saban, Sonjay Dutt, and Dale Torborg (w/Chicago White Sox's AJ Pierzynski) vs. the Diamonds in the Rough

Bobby Heenan will be a commentator for this match, so there's a plus right there , even though I think his cancer's finally starting to break him down. As piled together randomly as the face team is, I don't see much with the Diamonds in the Rough lately to see them winning. WINNER: SABAN/DUTT/TORBORG

4 Live Kru/The Family vs. Team Canada

Team Canada's been doing a lot of jobbing lately. The only way I see them getting a win is if TNA decides to have Kip James backstab the rest of the Kru in this match, rather than doing so down the road. WINNER: THE KRU/FAMILY

Matt Bentley (w/Traci) and Austin Aries vs. Roderick Strong and Alex Shelley

The required TNA-X-midcard-spotfest - and that's a good thing. Bentley and Shelley look like the jobbers to me, though I'm a bit intrigued with Shelley's gimmick of randomly taping people's matches from ringside. So it's a cointoss between Aries and Strong. I like Aries' chances slightly more with that cointoss. WINNER: BENTLEY/ARIES

Pre-show: Jeff Hardy, Lance Hoyt, and The Naturals vs. Buck Quartermain, Lex Lovett, Jon Bolen, and Joe Doering

I recognize no one on the non-Hardy side. I have a feeling that tells me who the winner will be. WINNER: HARDY/HOYT/NATURALS

So who else is ordering the PPV or seeing it live?

Edit: Forgot to add the Tables Match. I must be getting senile.

Jarrett v. Rhino - I see Rhino takign the loss but only after a serious bit of interference or a ref bump (i.e. Ref KO'd, Rhino hits the Gore, no noe there to make the count). Jarrett retains.

Joe v. Styles - They've doen a good job building this one up. I see a ref stop after Joe does to AJ what he did to Daniels thus giving him the title and setting up the return of Daniels.

Tables Match - They've spent 3 months building this match and feud so to have the Dudleys lose wouldn't make sense. Is this matcvh for the Tag titles?

Abyss v. Sabu - Sabu has gotten destroyed so far i nthis feud. He NEEDS to g oover if the fan want to continue believing he is still a bad ass. The fact that this is an FMW style barbed wire matchcan make this really good or really boring

Christian v. Brown - Wild brawl time. Thisis for the #1 contender spot so I see either Jarrett costing Christian the match or a giant pull apart Double DQ.

Raven v. ??? - Someone with a Hardcore background t omesh with Raven makes sense. Sandman could be brought in or even Balls Mahoney. Hey maybe Abdullah the butcher is available.

OK, I'll leave it here for now. This can be one hell of a good show.

I read somewhere that Raven's opponent is going to be:

Spoiler Below: Highlight text to read
Kanyon

Of course, I don't remember where I read that and can't find the source anymore, so I could have just made it up.

Well, that's the reason it was called a contender's match and not a #1 contender's match. At no point was Monty guranteed to get a title shot if he won last ppv, just that he would be "in the mix". It is weird that they would put these two up against each other. I guess Christian beating Monty is a good way to prove himself, but at the same time I'm surprised they want Monty to do the job. Still Christian wins or they're stupid.

I don't think so. Matt Bentley is the only one in this match that has held the X Division Title, and i'm pretty sure at the time his reign was the longest ever. Shelley while never a main player in the X Division has been in TNA longer than Strong and Aries and has been atleast a part of some storylines. Aries and Strong, although impressive in their matches, have never really done anything. Still I think Bentley and Aries do win the match, and the Shelley taping people's matches is interesting, so they might have a shot if Shelley is getting a push.

Jarrett vs Rhino - I wish I could say Rhino just because I'm tired of hearing people saying Jarrett will never lose. But the right way to book Christian's title win is for him to beat Jarrett, so Jarrett is keeping the title until then.

Joe vs. Styles - Initially I probably would've said Joe would blow right through the X Division and join the Title ranks, but with Christian on the scene now the World Title is his. So now Joe will probably win X Title instead. I'm kind of disappointed Daniels isn't on the card in some way but I guess it's necessary for him to sell his injuries.

Tables Match - The TNA website doesn't say that it's for the titles so I say the Dudleys win here.

Abyss vs Sabu - Who knows, Abyss seems to win a lot of his big matches, and yet never get a title shot. On the other hand he has been dominating this feud and it might be time for Sabu to win one.

Raven vs. Mystery opponent - If the mystery opponent is who MonteCarl says then I'm totally up for that. I think they can have a pretty good match, and I hope HE (the mystery opponent) sticks around too.

Sabin, Dutt, Torborg vs. Diamonds in the Rough - Diamonds in the Rough won last week on Impact, but it's not very often they win two in a row, faces win with help from Pierzynski of course.

4LK vs. Team Canada - 4LK wins
Hardy/Hoyt/Naturals vs. Buck Quartermain, Lex Lovett, Jon Bolen, and Joe Doering - Hoyt's team

I'll be ordering it since I usually order all the TNA PPV because they tend not to disappoint.

Pre-show match: The Naturals, Lance Hoyt, and Jeff Hardy vs. Buck Quartermain, Lex Lovett, Jon Bolen, and Joe Doering - An easy win for the Nats, Hoyt, and Hardy. While I'm happy that Hardy is being relegated to the pre-shows since that's where he belongs, I think the Naturals and even Hoyt deserve better.

Barbwire, Abyss vs. Sabu - This is going to be the opening match for the PPV. Abyss needs to win to settle this feud for good.

Raven vs. ??? - Rumors seem to be pointing to,

Spoiler Below: Highlight text to read
Chris Kanyon
. Not too excited about whatever it is after Raven vs. Credible last month. I'll say Raven gets the easy win.

4LK vs. Team Canada - Well the Kru won last month, and I clearly don't expect this 4LK gimmick to last long. I expect Team Canada to win to cause the ultimate Kru break-up.

Matt Bentley and Austin Aries vs. Alex Shelley and Roderick Strong - Interesting how Shelley and Strong heated enemies and rivals in one promotion (ROH) while being tag team partners in another (TNA). They've given Shelley a gimmick where he tapes his and others matches. I expect Shelley and Strong to win, even though all these guys are overdue for PPV wins and just wins, period. If the heels win it can be the starting point for a feud for the combatants in this match.

Sonjay Dutt, Chris Sabin, and the Kiss Demon vs. the Diamonds In The Rough - Not too excited about this match, I hope it goes short to give more time to the better matches. I'll say the faces win. The Kiss Demon returns to wrestling!

Tables match, Team 3D vs. AMW - Pertinent to note that Team 3D is going to miss quite a few taping dates due to their Japan commitments. Tag titles are NOT on the line. I'll go with AMW for now.

Monty Brown vs. Christian - This is a tough one to call. Having Christian lose his first match on PPV would be a mistake, but they seem to positioning Brown as top contender for the title again. Ugh, I'll just say Christian for now.

Rhino vs. Jeff Jarrett, world title - I don't know why they are doing this match on PPV. I'm going to go with Jarrett. Though there have been rumors that Sting has signed a contract with TNA, though I'm not sure if that will affect Turning Point and the world title match at all.

Samoa Joe vs. AJ Styles, x division title - If TNA had any sense they'd make this the main event. Joe needs to win here to finally get the X title on a fresh face. The guy who beats Joe whoever it is for the X title, it would be a really big deal. From there Joe can move on to the world title division hopefully, but with Jarrett around, I doubt it. So Joe is my pick to win. I wish TNA would make some merch. for him already, like a bloody towel, or shirts.

I also can't see 3D getting the best of AMW twice in a row, what with having won the six-man at Genesis. Best thing would be for AMW to beat 3D at their own game, and then to really make 3D the underdogs make the next match something that favors AMW. (Six Sides of Steel, maybe?)

TNA seems to handle #1 contention differently than WWE, where you're #1 contender until you get your title shot. The idea seems to be that, although Monty became #1 contender at Genesis, he has to defend that status until he receives his shot.

I noticed the same thing happening back in the spring, when Abyss earned a title shot at Destination X, only to wrestle another #1 contender's match against AJ at Lockdown. AJ wins the shot and uses it; Abyss's shot seems to vanish into thin air. The only way to explain it is that the #1 contender's spot is always implicitly at stake.

The faulty logic shows up in that Rhino is getting the very next title shot but isn't considered the #1 contender (maybe emlpoying the rematch clause isn't the same thing?); and Monty is so worried about losing his spot to Christian that he...gets into a match with Christian where his spot is on the line. (Admittedly, the match was Christian's idea, so it could be argued that Monty isn't thrilled with this.)

Part of the problem from what I've seen of TNA seems to be too much emphasis (in terms of storyline build) with the number one contendership. It makes the World Title seem very important, which is a big positive. On the other hand, all the feuds involving guys in the world title mix seem to have been "I want the title shot." "No I want it!" "You're both losers, I should get it, RAAAAAAH!" Which is great and all, but it doesn't allow for much character development, and the fans want to see guys feuding over a different reason other than just wanting the shot.

Again, I don't think the emphasis is a bad thing, but there needs to be something else to keep it interesting. You can't just force new viewers to care about a guy just because he wants a title shot.

I don't think it would hurt TNA either to acknowledge the past between all these guys. Shelley, IMO, has been (and is) very underutilized in TNA, although I like the "tapes matches" schtick. The guy can go, his ROH promos have been pretty good, and he emotes very well.

Jeff Jarrett defeats Rhino, retaining the NWA World Heavyweight Championship.

Abyss defeats Sabu in Barbed-Wire Massacre.

Samoa Joe defeats A.J. Styles to win the TNA X Division Championship.

The Dudleys defeat AMW in the Tables Match-- but only if it's a non-title match. If it's for the NWA World Tag Team Title, AMW beats the Dudleys and retain the title.

Christian defeats Monty Brown.

If Raven's opponent is the guy in the spoiler tag, I give the win to his opponent. Obviously it's hard to tell, otherwise.

Saban, Dutt and Torborg defeat the Diamonds in the Rough.

4LK defeat Team Canada, because it's waaaay too early for any 4LK guy to turn on the team-- yet. I'd bank on either Kip James or Konnan doing that turn when it comes.

I'll give Strong and Shelley the win over Bentley and Aries.

And Hardy's team wins on the pre-show.
