Did the ending of the Benoit/Booker match seem a little bizarre to you, too? I guess that's what happens when you're LIVE and/or Nick Patrick
So Show is defending the honour of Ric Flair against Triple H....which makes him a .... but tonight he's a .... ah fuck it

Pretty disturbing image there at the end, with Randy Orton crashing the low-rider into the rear of the SmackDown set and all the explosions and fires going off. Honest to God, every feud Undertaker's in has to stretch the bounds of reality, doesn't it? I guarantee you that if I deliberately smashed my car through the window of my store, in an attempt to commit homicide, I certainly wouldn't have a job anymore, and I'd spend some serious time in jail, too.
Granted, situations like this in WWE require a certain suspension of disbelief, but... jeez loueez, people. Why does everyone who feuds with the Undertaker have to act like he's trying to kill the Undertaker?
In any event, I didn't like the symbolism of Eddie's low-rider going up in flames, nor did I like the explosions and fire in general. But I guess they decided it's time for a new SmackDown set, so in grand WWE tradition they had to destroy the old one, first.
I did like Kane's reaction after the "bong!" and the lights going out. Big Show was all, "Hee, false alarm, he ain't here," but Kane obviously knew better. He didn't even look remotely surprised when he turned around and saw Undertaker standing there.
Anyhoo, I caught part of the Booker/Benoit match-- interesting they're giving Booker a 2-0 lead in the series. My guess is Booker will stretch the lead to 3-1 or maybe even 3-0 before Benoit starts on his comeback.
I missed most of the rest of it, since there's a Pacers game on, but based on what I did see, I'm glad I didn't go out of my way to see it. | saturn93

Booker/Benoit was OK (very nasty spill by Benoit on the floor), but Rey/Show...was OK until the lowrider spot. Then, it was a mess. The match that was being talked about for a week had a no-contest. You were right about Kane's look when he saw UT. It was like, "Man, you have to show up again." So, we see UT/Kane confrontation 1,253,534,234 or whatever it is, and UT gets destroyed for the 1,253,534,234th time, or whatever, by a different form of being destroyed, only to show up soon after for HITC.
Ugh, this was an hour too many for this week.

That's what's driven me nuts since the whole roster split. The WWE seems to think that fans at a Smackdown show will treat Smackdown wrestlers as faces and Raw wrestlers as heels (and vice-versa) as if the fans really gave a shit which show they were at or have any real loyatly to one show just because the WWE happened to show up in town on a Tuesday.
This isn't RAW vs Nitro Part 2, as much as they may want us to believe that it is.

Through the convoluted internal logic of the show, Benoit & Guerrero should've HATED each other after Benoit's jump to RAW in early 2004, right? Right? NO, because that would make no sense. So why try to enforce the whole thing now? | Texas Kelly

Show spitting on the lowrider, numerous run-ins as a means of transferring the spotlight to Taker/Orton, and Orton using the lowrider in one of his low-rent "take out Taker" schemes is not my idea of a tribute. It's classless and an insult to Eddie's memory.
I better be getting a 30-minute match between Rey & Benoit for the US title at Wrestlemania for having to watch that shit. That's my idea of a tribute done properly. | evophile

Yeah, Big Show's use of the lowrider especially makes no sense. Isn't he supposed to be a face? Didn't we just see this man crying about it? Why does he even need the heat? He's a face dammit. Doing it just to make sure the fans cheer Rey is stupid. Fans are gonna cheer who they want to, i.e. Cena vs Angle | CRZ

Prepare yourself for Booker to win 4-0 and Benoit to be long forgotten by WrestleMania - why set yourself up for disappointment when you can expect the worst instead? Then you'll be pleasantly surprised if it doesn't happen!
Speaking of preparing yourself for disappointment, I whipped up another impromptu impression of the match over at tOA. http://otherarena.com/cgi/post.cgi?30885&1&4&wwe

It's bad enough when they do it, but they had the character return just TWO NIGHTS AGO from a similar stunt that should've "destroyed" him.
The whole Eddy thing left a bad taste in my mouth. Rey's prayer to have Eddy be his guardian angel was very awkward. Not that there'd be anything wrong with that, but it was the kayfabing of it that made me a little uncomfortable. That was par for the course of the entire match, though. Oh, and we have Rey dedicate the match to Eddy, only to have the crap kicked out of him then become an afterthought as the match ends in a no-contest?
Even the angle with Orton reversing the Low-Rider into the set with Taker on it instantly reminded me of the car crash that almost killed Eddy a few years back. It's probably just me, but I just felt like the entire second half-hour was done in bad taste.
I appreciate that they don't want to just drop Eddy like he was a distant memory, but to bring him up in the manner that they did was a little upsetting. | BigDaddyLoco

So while the audience & announcers are reacting to the spit (I assume), I got a crowd shot, then a weird close-up of Show's head for a few seconds, then the match resumed again.

Not only that, but the angle was fucking retarded, ridiclous, and poorly executed in the first place.
And how is this supposed to draw heat for anyone after we saw Orton and Big Show crying two weeks ago?
