Well it strikes again as McNabb (sports.yahoo.com) is most likely out for the rest of the season. He opted for surgery to fix the sports hernia. I guess not being able to move around might hinder one's football season.

Mike McMahon didn't do horrible yesterday. His first half sucked, but I really thought he got things going ok in the second half. I'm not thrilled that he's the QB, but Koy Detmer's a better holder than a quarterback, so McMahon's all we got.

Part of me hopes they tank the season, get a good draft pick, and maybe start rethinking the direction of the team. The running game and the defense (particularly the pass coverage) need to be tweaked so they actually, you know, work.

Ideally, the Giants and Cowboys will collapse the rest of the season and McMahon will prove competent enough to run the table. The odds of that happening though are just slighltly less than the likelihood that McNabb will wake up tomorrow completely and miraculously healed and TO and Reid will be so inspired by his recovery that they will kiss and make up and fall in love and from their combined passion a running game will be born.

I didn't follow McMahon in Detroit, but I was at Rutgers for his tenure there. I remember the football team sucking.

Sheppard being out for the season also sucks, but he hadn't been playing as well of late anyway. I have a bad feeling that alot of people on this team are on the verge of being past their prime, and now all the injuries will get the focus for the poor performance this season, and not the need to tweak the defense, or the need to learn how to run the ball. As much as TO's absence seems to have hurt the team this year, I still wonder how things would be different if they had managed to keep Duce around two years ago instead of letting him drift over to Pittsburgh. (Hmmm... Duce goes to the Steelers and they become one of the top three teams in football. This year, Corey Simon goes to Indianapolis, and they are undefeated. I wonder if TO will keep up the trend next year. Probably.)
