Myself, I had never heard of "F-Secure" before (although a subsequent Google search seems to verify that it is indeed a pretty reliable company) ... Does anyone have any experience with their anti-virus software? Good? Bad? Indifferent?

Considering that I went to G-Mail shortly thereafter, though, that wasn't as big of a concern for me. If the spam filtering isn't a big issue for you, I'd definitely recommend it. | Guru Zim

Before you order, post up the terms of the deal that you are getting. Charter has a 6 mo for $26.99/mo deal pretty regularly, and often offers a free modem deal.
Do a google search for Charter High Speed Internet and look at the paid ads on the right side, and at the first paid listing. For some reason, it's almost always a better deal than what they offer on their web site or over the phone. | Guru Zim

Many people feel that AVG Free has too many false positives, but I have not had that experience. I am using it at home on my PC and I like it.
AVAST is always one of the ones recommended over at Ars Technica when I look at what their AV threads. | samoflange

Actually, my timing turned out to be pretty good (for once), because Charter offered me the internet access AND the free anti-virus protection AND a couple of premium channels for just an extra nine bucks a month on my cable bill ... only for the next six months, of course.
I figured that's a hard deal to refuse, so I caved
