Anyhoo, I picked up Mario Kart DS this week and oh boy, it's all kinds of great. The controls handle flawlessly, there are tons of tracks (both new tracks and retro courses from the SNES, GBA, N64, and Gamecube versions), and the game looks great. And from the sounds of things, there are tons of unlockables if you get good enough.
I even got to try a bit of the online play. This was where I discovered that I apparently really suck at the game. I don't actually have a wireless router of my own, so I'm almost never going to be online, but if you have the game, my friend code is 515455 665680 - feel free to find me and kick my ass.
All in all, if you have a DS, I can't recommend this enough. Between this and Animal Crossing, it's a good Christmas for DS owners. | Promote this thread! | | It's False

And thankfully, Nintendo knocked this one out of the ballpark. The new tracks are great and the retro tracks are perfect. The gameplay is very intuitive and the second screen actually works well, since you can see exactly where potential hazards lay.
Of course, the big feature is online play. Next to Super Smash Bros., Mario Kart was the one franchise I wanted to see with online play. Wi-Fi on the DS is officially here and it kicks ass. THIS should have been the time to release Zelda: The Four Swords. | Alessandro

Out of curiousity, since I have no DS, can you use the backward compatibility for GBA games and play THEM Wi-Fi? | Torchslasher

| #6 Posted on 14.12.05 0933.00 Reposted on: 14.12.12 0935.07 | I bought the MK:DS game bundled with the DS for 150, and right now I'm so glad I did. It really is fun, although some stuff had to be left off (the Baby Park level was so much fun in MK: Double Dash for the Gamecube, but here it is just bare bones). Speaking of bones, Dry Bones is my new favorite character. I love him in Mario Party 7, and I love him here in MK.
I only wish they had brought back Yoshi's level from the Gamecube game (forget the level name) where you couldn't see what place you were in until the end. But, at least Rainbow Road is in the game, and is even better than ever on this game.
All in all, I got one guy at work who I will be battling tonight, and I will set up the Wi-Fi connection here in a few days to see if I can get some real competition. | thecubsfan
