November 18, 2005

I wonder if he slips into character when he's drunk.

The key point is the suspension. The track record indicates they would only suspend someone unless they messed up pretty badly (ie; breaking the law). Add the hospital part, and you're looking at either assult/drunkeness (the two often go together) or being busted for drugs.

I think there could be an exception this week to how much it would take to piss the company off. Given what happened just a few days ago, I can't believe that ANY WWE wrestler would be willing to party to the point where they're hospitalized (assuming of course, that that's what happened).

The last thing Vince wants after news about Eddie's death being sped up due to past drug use is news about another current wrestler coming close to dying (which is exactly how it would be reported) due to drug/alcohol abuse.

1) He could have been hospitalized because he lost the fight, and got messed up in the process.

2) The reason he was sent home might not be because it has been a string of instances by Dinsmore. I believe 1 of the English guys I mentioned said it made the local news. Being a dumbass doesn't necessarily get you reprimanded by the WWE, but if you do it in public and/or attract negative public attention, then that's where you get in trouble. Look at Rhyno: argued w/ his wife & broke a flower pot. Nothing major, but because it was in full view of the press, he got released. JBL in Germany was the exception to that rule, but they were pushing him hard, plus Vince personally liked the character, so his actions were forgiven. Guys lower on the totem pole (i.e. Rhyno, Dinsmore) aren't afforded that luxury.

I reckon in about 90 days, Dinsmore can team with Rhino in TNA as the 'Hotel Hooligans'.

From WO.com (wrestlingobserver.com):

Nick Dinsmore update

by Dave Meltzer

Dave@wrestlingobserver.com

Any stories that Nick Dinsmore was involved in a bar fight or it had anything to do with his suspension are untrue. Dinsmore passed out and was hospitalized after the show in Manchester. He was sent home after being released from the hospital, and has been suspended. No decision has been made regarding his future with the company.

Either way...I'd be drinking too if I was stuck with that terrible gimmick.

I wouldn't be drinking becasue I had the gimmick.

I'd be drinking for being forced to play that gimmick 24/7 in public whereever I went.

There's no way he is going to shake that gimmick unless he goes somewhere else. I'd like to see him use an oldschool wrestling type of gimmick.

He could shake that gimmick pretty well by coming out of it during a match and turning heel. That would get him some great heat.

I disagree. Give the guy a haircut and a shave, and you wouldn't be able to pick him out of a line up full of Chris Masters, Sylvian Greiner, and Matt Stryker.

Not that this is any better than being Eugene.

Except, from what I've read, he's actually GOOD in the ring (at least when he's not copying old wrestler moves), unlike the guys you listed.

Too bad Rob Conway is enjoying a singles push (I guess he still is, since I haven't watched regularly lately), but they could re-form as the Lords of the Ring, one of the better tag teams I've seen so far this decade.

I agree with you Drew. In fact, that would be the perfect way out of the gimmick. Have Dinsmore break character and explain that it was the only way he could get into WWE, since "his uncle" (or even just flat-out say WWE) wouldn't even look at him until he became "this handicapped guy." So he conned his way in with the help of his former partner, Rob Conway. Reform the team and you're set.

Yeah, I know that's fantasy booking, but it would be a way out of the gimmick. If done properly, it could either keep him face ("I loved Eugene, but it's time for me to be Nick...") or heel ("...You suckers!"). There's no doubt other ways to handle it, I'm sure, but I don't think losing the gimmick is impossible here.
