Best Buy has it for $19.99 on sale from $27.99. Three discs and a ton of great matches, even though its missing some I really wanted to see.
I haven't watched mine yet, but for anyone who has, how's the documentary portion, the second Owen Hart match, and are there any easter eggs? | Promote this thread! | | The Chief

| #2 Posted on 16.11.05 2127.19 Reposted on: 16.11.12 2127.34 | The documentary is incredible. It's very long like the ECW DVD, at least 2 1/2 hours. The Stampede footage is really interesting. I think if the internet was around back in the early 80's, Stampede would have had an ECW like cult following. Some of that stuff was just so innovative for its time, I mean you had guys like Bret and Dynamite absolutely maim each other with holds I didn't even think existed until the nineties. Watch and compare that style of wrestling with the stuff going on in the WWF and even the NWA at the time, there's a world of difference. There's even a ladder match on there with Bad News Allen from 1983! 1983, about ten years before the "first" ladder match with Bret and Shawn!
Bret's a real class act all the way through, his tributes to his friends that have passed on had me choked up. I thought I was all cried out after the Eddie tribute, but found myself struggling to hold back the tears when Bret explained his sorrow over losing guys like Curt Henning and Rick Rude, and of course his brother Owen.
There's a few easter eggs, they're mostly just extra clips from the documentary. The second Owen match is very good. I believe it was taped for the old "WWF Action Zone" show. | meaty_buys

Speaking of the DVD, Bert Duckwall sent in the following Easter Eggs he discovered:
I bought the Bret Hart 3 disc dvd today and it is pretty good. I got it at my local Wal-Mart. Here are the Easter Eggs I found so far:
Disc 1 Go to Chapters. Stampede Wrestling-Click left twice-Ed Whalen/Sheepherders/Bret/Dynamite Kid in ring in Calgary with Dynamite and The Sheepherders doing the talking.
Disc 2 1. Extras-Boston Garden/Bret vs. Steamboat - click right twice - Bret talking about making his matches look real.
2. Extras-SNME/Harts vs Rockers - click Left twice - Bret talking about the origin of the Hitman name.
3. Extras- Bret vs Bulldog/SummerSlam 1992 - Click Left twice - Bret talks about not hurting anybody.
Disc 3 1. Bret vs. Diesel/Surviver Series - Click Right twice Bret music video.
EDIT: Forget to close my quote.

Well this really doesn't surprise. Especially since Hart got to supervise the whole shebang and he still has issues with Master Hickenbottom.
I'm just disappointed though, they could've at least had HBK to come on there and talk about their matches in the early 90's like their ladder and cage matches. And putting their world title match from Survivor Series 1992 would've been nice as well. | J. Kyle

Buy the HBK book that just came out for the "truth" according to Shawn Michaels. It's Bret Hart's DVD and I don't see why he would want Shawn on there. He did want the Ironman Match with Shawn on the DVD but it's just too long. | El Nastio

Certianly gives new meaning to the term "Hit"man.
I'd love to get my hands on this, but sadly I have no money. And by time I do ge money, it'll probably be out of print (I got shafted already with certian games because of that). Looks like one of the better DVD's to come out though, which is saying a lot because the WWE is quite good at making them. | Alex

I am dissapointed that there are no comments from Shawn on there. While I'm willing to guess that most of what Shawn would have said would've been total bullshit, it still would have been nice to get his opinions on things. | thecubsfan

What's The Anvil doing these days that they couldn't bring him to Titan Towers for a half a day to talk about one of the greatest tag teams of all time? Bret talks a bit about how close he still is with both Jimmy and Jim, so why not bring him in for the documentary? | asteroidboy

| #17 Posted on 17.11.05 1827.39 Reposted on: 17.11.12 1827.54 | Just watched it last night and really enjoyed the feature. I was worried that it was going to be just a match compendium, like Michaels' "Behind the Vault," but there is a 2hr+ feature.
It's good and the format reminds me of Bret. Dry and very wrestling-focused. It's good for his perspective on a lot of things, like the Iron Man match, Owen, the screwjob, just a lot of issues that we haven't gotten his take on (at least in a WWE forum) since they tried to erase him from memory post-1997. His thoughts on his first title run are very interested, regarding how he felt about holding the belt and following Hogan.
As it was billed, the DVD is also definitely a tribute to his opponents and Bret goes out of his way to compliment guys like Perfect, Bam Bam Bigelow, even Shawn for a bit. While it's centered on Bret, they do a decent job of taking you back to the 80s and 90s era.
The tone was very positive, it felt like Bret got final edit of the thing. All of the WWE officials trip over themselves complimenting him. Vince even starts the DVD thanking Bret for putting the past aside to contribute.
The sources were a little limited, but the guys I most wanted to hear from (Rick Rude, Owen, Davey Boy, Stu) are no long here. Shawn and Neidhart were conspicuous by their absence.
Some of the extras on the first DVD are very funny, like Bret recalling how Owen ribbed Stu at WrestleMania IV. The tribute to Bret's fallen comrades is heartbreaking. Bret also *sounds* different throughout the DVD. His voice is softer and there's still a touch of the stroke affecting his speech.
There's also little bit of padding, like some music montages during some of his matches at the end of chapters. Then at the end, there's an awful rap-rock song (Limp Bizkit?) set to ANOTHER montage that is completely out of place and nearly detracts from the DVD. The padding was inexplicable to me, given the length of Bret's career and all the possible material there.

Just maybe to talk about their earlier matches and feud before the screw job debacle. I'm not upset about the Iron Man match since it was already collected on HBK's DVD. I was hoping for the ladder match and their first world title match at Survivor Series. | StampedeFan23
