WHAT WORKED:

I can’t decide wether to put Daniels vs. Jarrelle Clark on the top or bottom half…but I’m giving it the benefit of the doubt. Jerrelle Clark is better than this and felt at times like two were working different matches. I like the new running knee into corner that Daniels has added to arsenal. Opponent kind of takes a SUWA drop kick bump into corner but it’s a move that really works well with the six sided ring and so I’m going to give props to Daniels for adding a move that works for the environment. Don west on commentary talking about Jarrelle Clark’s second rope moonsault says:"It missed but it boy was it smooth."

And in one sentence Don West encapsulates everything that TNA style wrestling stands for at this point. And I really think they should think about using it as the feds motto. Replacing “60 minute adrenaline rush” with “it missed but boy was it smooth”.

Shelley and Strong vs. Dutt and Aj I have no question about wether it belongs on top half. Shelley and Strong work heel and do it well here. I have seen Strong vs. Dutt from JAPW and the two worked surprisingly well together in JAPW. It was one of those indy dream matches and so it had no face/heel shape and it went way way too long but the two had a bunch of nice exchanges that they worked with each other. Exchanges weren’t as smooth here but the face/heel shape brought it up a notch. Dutt essentially worked face in peril for the whole match with AJ cleaning house. When I say cleaning house I mean he really didn’t sell anything for opponents as able to reverse out of all their stuff. Odd as two juniors AJ and Dutt really not working as Rock N Roll Express but rather as Kikuchi/Kobashi or something. Odd contrast to main event tag from week before.

AMW vs. 3LK was also good. They kept Konan on the outside opposite Gail Kim. Konan does have some heaving breasts but the two never did really any catfight spots. But Konan was kept out of ring. I normally don’t like Killings dancing into every move but he stole James Storm’s cowboy hat and so he “Hee Hawed” and “pony rided” into everything. Taunting into moves better than breakdancing into them. BG v Harris sections are way better than you would expect…AMW figuring out how to work heel…they’re not as good at the heelish cutting off of face advances as Naturals but they’re doing more stooging transitioning into viciousness. Finish is overbooked but fine.

WHAT DIDN’T WORK:

Remember when I shat on the Konan vs. Kip James punch exchanges from last weeks episode. Well I should have held my tongue…because I had yet to see Abyss vs. Lance Hoyt which I mean these shows are pre-taped there is no reason to let anything this awfull on the air. You just edit this kind of thing out. Where those punches aimed at something. The low kicks, the clotheslines, the “dive”...When a match is so bad that you begin to wonder if it’s a rib then you edit it off your TV. Everything they did missed but boy was it UGLY. Spellbinder vs. Conan Chris Walker is better than this. 2005 Spellbinder vs. 2005 Chris Walker would be better than this. If you gave Brad Imes and Dan Christenson an hour and a half of training, they’d have a better worked match.
