WHAT WORKED:

These things are taped two episodes at a time and I may just need to start writing about them in pairs. First taping was completely unwatchable while second taping things were slowed down allowing matches to have momentum and reasons for things to take place. Second taping was less ADD but the first half of the second taping still didn’t result in good matches…but the second half of second taping did. As believe it or not every match makes the what worked side of the report here.

Samoa Joe v. Elix Skipper is how you work Samoa Joe vs. Elix Skipper. Skipper blows some stuff but Joe does nice job covering for Elix Skipper. I should point out that while Joe does a nice job covering for Skipper, DON WEST~!!!! Does a fucking great job covering for Elix Skipper. Vince should make all his pbp guys study Don West during this match as he explains away everything like a natural.

Really you watch this fed and the one thing that they’ve had going for them the one thing that is a constant source of good matches is the AMV vs. Hot Shots/Naturals series. This is very much the least of the AMW vs. Naturals matches. The Naturals are much better off as heels as even as faces you got the sense that they work around cutting off opponent’s offense…AMW also maybe better off as faces. They have a broken glass finish and I’m pretty sure ref Rudy Charles has worked IWA-MS and should have handled that better. I didn’t care for the overbooked everyone run in finish. And really felt that Chase Stevens SSP to floor was completely unnecessary to match. This is fed filled with guys who can do nothing but dives. Guys who can jump and spin but can’t actually wrestle. The X division isn’t about weight limits, it’s about NO LIMITS. If you’re going to have a division for that purpose than the rest of your matches need to have limits. If everyone does dives what’s the point of having a separate x Division. Weird weird show where the AMW vs. Naturals and Samoa Joe match may be the least matches on your show.

Bobby Roode vs. Ron Killings was really really good. I can’t stand Killings as guy who dances in 3LK. Him working as the Force MD to Konan’s Samantha Fox isn’t just stupid, he also doesn’t do it well. Odd how much better Killings looked in singles match. As you normally expect it to work the other way around (limited tag guy exposed in singles rather than good singles worker exposed in tags). Killings punches shoulderblocks and clotheslines all looked solid and stiff here. roode also hit nice clean clotheslines and knees. Killings eats stuff well and hits a fucking spectacular dive. Again they have a really stupid huge clusterfuck finish. You have two guys having the second best match on the show and instead your focused on Konan and Kip James having a laughably bad punch exchange on the floor.

So it’s a match with Jef Jarrett, Abyss, Brown, Aj Styles, Jeff Hardy, and Lance Hoyt and it was the best match on a show. Best match on a show that had a Samoa Joe match and a AMW vs. Naturals match. I mean look at the list off turds in this and its nonetheless really good. Best match on show best match on first four weeks of Impact. Main event is a Jeff Jarrett match and it may have had the least overbooked finish. So tired of overbooked finishes to Jeff Jarrett matches and Jeff Jarrett as Wayne Ferris champion that you forget how good of a tag wrestler Jarrett is. I’m so tired of Aj Styles in TNA as spot machine that you forget that he can work Georgia babyface. And really both of these guys carry this match. This isn’t the fake All Japan style of six man that Raw has been running where you protect everyone by having them all get in and out quick and get their stuff across. This was North American style tag wrestling the kind that Jerry Jarrett built a territory on promoting with heel team vs. blowjob team. Look at the fat girls chanting for Hoyt in front row (and the tattoo on the small of Hoyt’s back) maybe I shouldn’t call it blowjob team, as its safe to say he isn’t just drinking with the fans, he must be chowing box too. Hoyt does a really really shitty dive and I would normally complain about the over use of dives outside of X division: This is fed filled with guys who can do nothing but dives....yadda yadda..... If everyone does dives what’s the point of having a separate yadda yadda...but the thing with Hoyt has less to do with the over use of dives and more to do with his dive looks absolutely awful like an uncoordinated man tripping and falling...he shouldn't be doing dives because he can't do them. But Jeff Jarrett was just on fire here hitting his stuff well taunting the faces, etc And Aj eats everyone’s offense well and works the face in peril well. Those two just held this together and you watch this match and actually go “wow if they built this fed around Jeff Jarrett vs. Aj Styles they might actually have something.” Everyone else broke up pins well and the finish sets up a nice story. Shocking.

What Didn't Work:

Most of the problems with this show I’ve kind of already talked about above. Every match having a dive, the overbooked finishes, the Kip James Konan punch exchange. But I think its worth repeating that Kip James vs. Konan punch exchange looked like a backyard tape. Hmmm. I don't know I think even backyarders probably have better form than that.
