I don't know enough about the rules to know if that's right or not. Maybe they're allowed to exempt one game just like everyone who plays a 12th game against them (like Wisconsin does). | Zeruel

Should they somehow follow their narrow 56-5 loss to Louisville up with a loss against Cinci, The State University of New Jersey will be bowl eligible with 6 wins, 1 of their victories being against 1-AA Villanova. Sadly, due to other Big East teams finishing below .500, there might actually be a spot for them to land come bowl season. As a public service: Due to Giants vs. Raiders being played the evening of December 31st (even if I had a life, I'd stay in due to being a Giants fan and this game potentially having playoff implications), the Peach Bowl will be played on the evening of December 30th. That means the true degenerate gambler bowl game will be the Hawaii Bowl played on X-Mas Eve between the 3rd place team in Conference USA and a WAC Team. Now, if that doesn't say degenerate gambler and miserable person, nothing does. I know I'll be watching. If they had sense, they'd find a way to put Navy (should they beat either Temple or Army) into this game, as at least they would draw a crowd in Hawaii, and, it would add a level of interest in the game if it is a service academy.

Every time I think USC can be had, they go out and they earn their wins. First ND, now Fresno. I'm wondering if UCLA can give them the same push next week. | redsoxnation

UCLA played them to the wire last year, so it is possible, if somehow UCLA decides to show up for the first half of a game. If USC had been picked off, it would have been an interesting 1 loss argument between Penn State, USC and LSU, with the SEC Title game possibly having a lot of influence on the national title picture. Oregon is going to get kept out of the BCS due to Michigan not being able to hold a 2 possession 4th quarter lead at home. Bowls still look good at this point, even with Miami probably eliminated, barring a North Carolina upset of Virginia Tech. If December 3rd turns into Bloody Saturday though, this could be the potential BCS match-ups.
Rose: Penn State vs. 1 loss non conference champion USC Fiesta: Colorado vs. UCLA Orange: Florida State vs. Notre Dame Sugar: Georgia (not much of an upset though if they win the SEC Title game in the Georgia Dome) vs. West Virginia
Of course, if LSU were to win the SEC in this scenario, a potential LSU vs. Penn State Rose Bowl could occur, with either Texas, USC or Notre Dame in the Sugar Bowl. Ohio State might be the biggest supporters in America of USC and Texas on December 3rd, because they could be the odd team out of the BCS if one of those teams aren't conference champion. | ALL ORIGINAL POSTS IN THIS THREAD ARE NOW AVAILABLE |
