Lilian Garcia comes out but DOESN'T sing the national anthem "We've got a very special show for you tonight - let's go to the Opening Match!"
18:05 DARK MATCH: MR. KENNEDY pinned VAL VENIS in 4:38 after the second rope forward roll fireman's carry slam. Kennedy let Lilian introduce him, then introduced himself anyway. Venis managed his blue thunder powerbomb but that never finishes off ANYBODY anymore.
Okay, at this point, let's pause for a spoiler-free version, not that it matters, but here it is...
RAW: Big Show & Kane vs. MNM Kurt Angle vs. Shelton Benjamin Shawn Michaels vs. Rey Mysterio Seven Diva Battle Royal Eugene vs. Simon Dean Ric Flair vs. William Regal John Cena vs. Randy Orton (with Cowboy Bob Orton)
SMACKDOWN!: Matt Hardy vs. Carlito Road Warrior Animal & Heidenreich vs. Lance Cade & Trevor Murdoch Chavo Guerrero vs. John "Bradshaw" Layfield Eleven Cruiserweight Battle Royal Triple H vs. Chris Benoit
Past this point, you're spoiling yourself...
18:15 As everyone heads out in front of the Titantron, the WWE.com Unlimited logo shows up on the big screen. Front and center are Mysterio, Benoit, Malenko, and Shane. Most everyone is wearing a "I'm your Papi" shirt - we'll ignore the obvious question of why Mysterio would wear one and move on
The low rider is on a riser and lit from below.
18:20 "The power is back" open
VINCE MCMAHON has a few words about Eddie Guerrero
Ten bell salute
Eddie Guerrero Tribute Video set to Johnny Cash's version of Nine Inch Nails' "Hurt"
Vince: "VIVA LA RAZA!"
18:25 John Cena comments
18:28 Clip: Eddie Guerrero douses Big Show with sewage
BIG SHOW & KANE defeated MNM in 3:43 in an interpromotional battle of tag team champions when Nitro was pinned after a double chokeslam - all this DESPITE Kane setting off his pyro BEFORE the match - or is that when he DOES win? I forget.
18:33 Clip: Eddie Guerrero auctions off all of Kurt Angle's stuff he's stolen
KURT ANGLE was tested by SHELTON BENJAMIN but managed to lock in the super heel hook with leg grapevine and secure the submission in 7:38. This was the first black "EG" armband I noticed but I think everybody must have been wearing them.
18:50 Clip: Los Guerreros vignettes
Comments from Chavo Guerrero
18:55 SHAWN MICHAELS went down to REY MYSTERIO in 11:42 after Mysterio hit the 619 and Dropped the Dime. As usual, Shawn was announced as weightless.
Comments from Batista
Somewhere in here we get a look (but no sound) at JOEY STYLES, JONATHAN COACHMAN and JERRY LAWLER. A few half-hearted "Coach sucks" and "We want JR" chants but most people weren't into chanting anything beyond "Eddie, Eddie" - which was just fine. After a while, MOST of the "let's start a chant and get on TV!" crowd shut up - thank God.
19:16 In a Divas Battle Royale featuring ASHLEY, MARIA, CHRISTY HEMME, VICTORIA, MELINA, JILLIAN HALL, MICKIE JAMES, CANDICE MICHELLE and TRISH STRATUS, Melina managed to take out Stratus at 4:58 to win - and then make the "I want da belt" hand motion about a ZILLION times. Maria will probably be seen as the show stealer with her stupid act.
19:27 Clip: WrestleMania XX celebration
EUGENE defeated SIMON DEAN after Rock Bottom in 3:57, and made off with his Segway.
Comments from Chris Benoit
Clip: No Way Out 2004
Comments from Triple H
19:43 RIC FLAIR beat WILLIAM REGAL with a figure four in just over four - 4:34 to be more or less precise. It was better in the earlier decade but always fun to see live - on TV, probably not so much
Clip: Eddie Guerrero "accidentally" wins the intercontinental title while "protecting" Chyna from Kurt Angle in a triple threat match
19:55 In the RAW main event, JOHN CENA got a DQ win over RANDY ORTON when COWBOY BOB ORTON and a chair got involved within plain sight of Mike Chioda. Cena removed his Guerrero shirt, placed the WWE title on it in the centre of the ring, zoom in, we're out at 20:03.
While the set change happened, a "Viva Las Divas" video played on the screen to distract you - set to that Jet song.
20:10 Also, we got to see an ad for "See No Evil" starring KANE - coming Spring 2006 and not called "Eye Scream Man," boo. I guess he collects eyeballs or something - this is what the clip conveyed to me, anyway.
TAZZ and MICHAEL COLE came out to Tazz' EKG and "Rock Superstar"
"The Power Is Back" open
No opening pyro for either show, obviously - well, not obviously since I'm telling you now. Just a "by the way"
BATISTA opens the show by driving out the lowrider we saw in the first show - he has some emotional words in the ring, then places the World Heavyweight title on the hood of the car, where it will remain in the aisle for the remainder of the show
20:18 MATT HARDY defeated CARLITO in 6:00 with the Twist of Fate.
20:27 Comments from Vince McMahon
ROAD WARRIOR ANIMAL & HEIDENREICH take out LANCE CADE & TREVOR MURDOCH by knocking out Murdoch, then giving Cade the Device - Animal pins him in 4:53.
20:38 Comments from Big Show
CHAVO GUERRERO upset JOHN "BRADSHAW" LAYFIELD in 8:31 after a rather heroic Three Amigos/frog splash combination. Crowd could have gotten behind Chavo more - and Layfield did his best as the heelingest heel of the night, but the crowd eventually came alive as the match progressed, Chavo did more of the "lie/cheat/steal" spots and by the end the crowd was farily loud. Chavo got the mic after the match and thanked us for all our love - he knows Eddie would thank us as well. Let's hope Kerwin White died when Eddie did. Let's hope that last sentence was the most tasteless thing I've managed to let slip by in this report.
20:55 Looks like Tazz and Cole are talking while nothing seems to be happening
20:57 In a Cruiserweight Battle Royale, RAW superstars TAJIRI and GREGORY HELMS were joined by PAUL LONDON, KID KASH, BRIAN KENDRICK, SCOTTY 2 HOTTY, NUNZIO, FUNAKI and the MEXICOOLS, who came out on their Juan Deeres. I know you're probably thinking what I was thinking - "Kid Kash is still employed by the WWE?" but this is at least a good place to learn what all the cruiserweights weigh...assuming the intros don't get absorbed into an ad break - I'll digress at this point to mention that you CAN really tell where the ad breaks go during the longer matches if you really pay attention. It'll be interesting to see how much actually gets edited out since they're not going to be broadcast live anyway. Oh yeah, the winner was JUVENTUD, eliminating London at 5:50 after a pretty entertaining end game.
21:10 In the main event of the evening, TRIPLE H laid down to CHRIS BENOIT at the 12:41 mark - after fighting off crossface after crossface, Benoit managed to surprise H with a crucifix pin transitioned from the crossface. Post-match, they have a handshake and big long hug. H raises Benoit's arm and leaves the ring...just as DEAN MALENKO appears from the back to take HIS turn hugging Benoit. Benoit gets the mic and has some more words for us, grabs a sign from the crowd and leaves it in the ring - zoom in and we're out again.
21:32 TONY CHIMEL thanks us and wishes us a good night
I have a hunch there'll be a lot more edited into Smackdown! later but both shows were enjoyable given the circumstances. TUNE IN

| #8 Posted on 14.11.05 1245.09 Reposted on: 14.11.12 1245.14 | After reading these spoilers (only because due to real-life commitments, I will be unable to watch these shows at broadcast time), I have only two comments to make.
To the fans: Watch these shows. Cherish them. Even if you weren't a big fan of Eddie's, you will get a glimpse into his life straight from the horse's mouth and learn for yourselves just why he was so great. Enjoy them. Cry. Say thanks for what Eddie's done for us over the years.
And then pray that we never have to see another show like these two will be again in our lifetimes.
To Vince: I know in the back of your mind that you probably want to put these shows on DVD. Do it. Put them on, don't cut a second of it. Sit down with all the people who didn't get a chance to speak during the show and give them a chance to say what Eddie meant to them. Put it all on. Put it out as fast as you can. Let the money roll in.

| #10 Posted on 14.11.05 1317.55 Reposted on: 14.11.12 1318.07 | It was quite a show last night. One that won't soon be forgotten.
The ending reminded me of WMXX, which I'm sure was intentional. After Benoit beat HHH, I was half-expecting Eddie to walk out, but instead Dean Malenko came out which was a good surprise.
The crowd was good. Some people were a little obnoxious, but it wasn't too bad. Benoit was definitely the most emotional. The unexpected matchups did lighten the mood. I had no idea I'd be seeing Rey-HBK and Benoit-HHH and Shelton Benjamin make an appearance. | Mayhem
