| #1 Posted on 12.11.05 1853.54 Reposted on: 12.11.12 1854.05 | With Batista looking at a few months on the shelf, this match was signed pretty hastily for the next Smackdown. The logical idea would be to have Eddie win to avenge his 'friend' Batista, and then lead Team Smackdown to victory at Survivor Series. They could then have Batista return in February, get his rematch at WM, and the road to WM buildup has Eddie finally snap and turn on Big Dave. OR, perhaps even more interestingly, if the fans are taking to face Eddie, have Eddie claim that he really did change for the better, and then have Batista turn heel by attacking Guerrero over taking 'his' title.
If Orton wins the belt....well, Tennyson Lund will lose it. They can have Orton/Piper for the title at Survivor Series and maybe have a fun little "Piper going for his first world title" storyline involved, while Undertaker makes his big return as Batista's replacement on the Smackdown team. Then have Orton/UT for the title in the next few months, with either Orton holding onto the belt through cheating and facing Batista at WM, or (once again, even more interestingly), have Undertaker win the belt and then put the title and the unbeaten streak on the line at Wrestlemania. The spectre of Batista coming back to the win the belt is enough of a question that it will create some tension as to whether or not Undertaker's streak will remain intact. | Promote this thread! | | JustinShapiro

Or Eddie could take the belt into the tag match as champion as Batista would've. I like your storyline ideas setting up the Batista/Eddie friendship as the longterm angle for Wrestlemania.
As far as Batista's replacement on the team, it would be a crying shame if Matt Hardy didn't get to be in that match. | evophile

This makes sense, as any match he could've had with Edge at Survivor Series is probably off the books. So I guess that would make JBL the team captain now?
I'd like to see Eddie with the title again. Orton has a lot of feuds going on huh? Piper, Taker, maybe Hardy and now a potential World Title. | ekedolphin

Which isn't to say that Matt Hardy : YOUR World Heavyweight Champion wouldn't have me marking out like a little girl, because it would.
And if it DOES happen, he needs to bust out that god-awesome "Superplex from Every Corner in succession" spot that he did against Daniels again.... | chill

And WWE's never been known to start a program and then drop it like it never happened a week later.
Really, there's no logic here. They've shown they'll make Orton the champ and drop all feuds they want to. My money's on Orton to win... feud with Taker some more... then drop the title to Batista at WM. | mikebuk

With Christian's departure and Rob Van Dam on the injured list, Kurt Angle is the only active wrestler with a chance for this feat.
He may be the guy to put that over, should he get the World Tag belts one day. | Oliver

With that, go Eddie, go! I want him to win the title, but not at the expense of Batista. Not meaning to engage in fantasy booking, but Big Bad has a great point...but I'd love to see Batista get knocked out, and then have Eddie go completely apesh*t on whomever knocked Batista out, winning the title in the progress.
Batista's a great champ; if he has to lose it, at least let it be classy. | mikebuk

He and Rey Mysterio in the same 5 man team at Survivor Series begs you to ask, 'Can we believe these two would suddenly act as partners after the last few months'.
