| #22 Posted on 11.11.05 0103.28 Reposted on: 11.11.12 0107.13 | Did anybody get a sound capture of the two things Walt said? Sounds like more reverse-speak.
(EDIT: According to TVGuide.com, Walt said "The Others are coming; they're close." There was another secret message too though, right?)
I got the feeling that Sayid didn't actually see Walt the second time Shannon saw him (right before she died). When she ran after Walt, he just sat there and didn't react until she disappeared into the woods. It was almost like he couldn't tell her he didn't see Walt after just saying he believed her, but at the same time he wasn't going to follow her until she disappeared into a potentially dangerous situation (what with the whispering and all).
I also thought the gunshot sounded more like a rifle than a handgun, but I doubt they'd go that course. Plus, I'm definitely no expert on guns.
Before this episode, I would have definitely picked Shannon as the person I would want killed (if I had to choose somebody). During the episode, I was hoping that it would be Ana. I also started liking Shannon's character for the first time during this episode, so for me I guess the flashbacks did a good job of making her a sympathetic character. It also made it at least somewhat sad when she got shot. All in all, though, I'd definitely rather have her gone than Sawyer.

I actually thought Sayid was history, given that I'd heard Naveen Andrews isn't too well-liked on the Lost set. I also had a shocking swerve in the back of my head and the last scene of the show would be Charlie OD'ing from a heroin overdose or something. Shannon's death, I'm afraid, will end up as little more than a plot device to instantly get some Sayid/Ana hatred, and by the end of the season we'll have forgotten who Boone and Shannon ever were. | ICEMAN

Cindy was the name of the Aussie chick,I believe she was a flight attendent. I've also heard her called the flight attendent with the big boobs.;)

try and find the EW article a few months ago. It does a good job of laying all the stories out, as well as his relationship with Barbara Hershey (who is probably 15+ years his senior). | jfkfc

I have caught up from the pilot episode in the last week and a half, so everything is pretty fresh, but I haven't looked too much around for rumors and information. Is it known that Cindy was actually a flight attendant? It seemed somewhat plausible, by the way she totally up and disappeared (even though "the others" are silent, quick, and deadly), that she could have been an Ethan-type that everyone just assumes is part of the group because she was simply there. I mean, the main group doesn't even know that Ethan is an outsider until they check the manifest, something that the tail group certainly doesn't have. This could also explain how "the others" always seemed to know where the tail group was and were able to keep them scared...
Ethan wasn't necessarily with "the others", was he? He could have been associated with Danielle, since he took Claire, and Claire noted the scars on Danielle's arm when Danielle took the baby (her memory was jarred, I suppose). Ethan was never shown with anyone else, the same with Danielle. | Kevintripod

I would say that Ethan was one of the "others" simply due to the above-human strength he showed whenever he fought with someone. | ICEMAN

From the Pilot:
Cindy 1 (lost-media.com)
Cindy 2 (lost-media.com)
She's definately a flight attendent.

Jack still took him down the second time they met.
The problem is that since no one seems to know anything about these 'others', its too easy to try to group all mysterious characters together. Can we even be sure that Bluebeard & crew are aligned with the barefoot people that Jin and Echo saw? What's to stop Ethan from being part of yet a third group? After all, Danielle and Desmond were each other people who are not 'the others'. Who says Ethan has to be one of them? Hopefully, tonight's episode will provide some insight on this matter. | pieman

But wait, I could be wrong since I cannot go back and look at the episode. Didn't Shannon have her back to Walt at the time and the only reason she turned around to see him is because of the look on Sayid's face, I believe she was like "Whats wrong" or something like that. So I do think Sayid saw Walt, since their was no other reason for him to give a strange look. | StingArmy

I think you're right, but I must have written that off as general paranoia due to the whispering. He probably did see Walt, but I'm all about conspiracy theories!
