People say the FU is bad... that move is head and shoulders beyond this one. And it kills me because Brown is an otherwise entertaining wrestler.
Go look in the archives. I have a proud history of hating on this move. I have no doubt it would hurt like HELL, but like other legitimate killer moves such as the armbar, the aesthetics of wrestling make it look awful.

Ultimate X: Awesome.

6 man X: Awesome.

New policy: Turn off before Double J's match... if I can resist looking at Gail Kim.

Rhetorical question: If a tree falls in the forest and no one's around, will Raven actually WRESTLE A FUCKING MATCH?

Somebody else in this thread already mentioned it, but the Jarrett/Rhino match was actually pretty good, it just had a shitty finish with Jarrett regaining the title. Honestly, if Jarrett had gone in the champ, it would have been pretty hard to complain about it. I just didn't like the fact that they hotshotted their title back onto a guy that's already stale. The match itself was totally worth watching.

I thought Jarrett/Rhyno was okay. It just didn't feel like a main event, especially not after the X-Division six-way and Ultimate X, which blew it away in terms of energy and innovation. (Almost typed "workrate" there for a moment...)

I'm really looking forward to a Samoa Joe/Christopher Daniels feud, too.

Oh, and apparently Jarrett is "the thinking man's wrestler." Is that anything like being a cerebral assassin?

TNA's two hour prime time special draws disappointing rating

The rating for TNA's prime time special came in at a disappointing 0.9. It was the first time TNA had ever been on basic cable between the hours of 6 p.m. and 11 p.m. ET, and anything below 1.0 would be considered below expectations.

There was hope of a rating approaching 1.5. Basically, the viewership was on the high end of what they've drawn for their Saturday night weekly show.

The rating is not a disaster, but it won't give Spike TV any sense of urgency to upgrade TNA to a primetime weeknight timeslot.

(Not good news for people hoping to see TNA go head-to-head with RAW or Smackdown)

In a way, that's sort of a relief -- I don't have any wish to see them go head-to-head. I just don't see what the benefit would be. Plus, right now, TNA would get killed dead.

As far as the actual show, I liked it. I was surprised to enjoy the six-man tag more than the UltX.

Several guys in the 6-man did great little things: Shelley checking his teeth after taking a dropkick, Joe simply walking out of the way and sneering when Dutt went for the moonsault.

UltX was good, although when the X was hanging by a thread and Petey was staring at it, I REALLY wanted him to go stand underneath it again! Why didn't he? It would have been totally in character! I kind of think they just wanted to pretend the previous UltX didn't happen; I don't remember them mentioning it at all on commentary.

Also in the UltX -- both Bentley and Williams hotshotted Sabin's arm over the top rope at different points in the match -- and then at the end, Sabin couldn't make it across the cables because his arm hurt too much. See? Psychology! In an X match! I know!

The Monty squash was fun enough. I really liked Tenay mentioning that the jobber (Gamble?) used to be an American Gladiator. Somehow it makes it more interesting than claiming complete ignorance or making up a phony name for the guy (I always hated Al Snow's "Babaganoush" schtick).

Jarrett -- well, eh, to be expected. At least -- well, it makes Rhino a credible threat to the title at any time, you know? They don't have that many former-world-champions working for them, so adding another one isn't the worst thing they could do.

As for being disappointed by the ratings, did Spike actually publicise the special? I mean, I found out about it here on the board, and I still almost forgot about it until it was mentioned on the board closer to the actual air date. If the only publicity the special got was on Impact, how would they expect to draw anyone except the standard Impact audience?

I gave TNA a chance over a year ago and wasn't impressed. I recently gave them another chance and so far overall I have enjoyed what I have seen. The X 6man tag was one of the best matches I have seen in a long time.

I think what TNA should do is put the focus more on the X-Division than the heavy's. When I watch people like Abyss, Jarrett, Nash, etc. I cant help but feel that TNA is the bush league WWE. The X is where they stand out from the competition. They have 100% of my attention during those matches. Yet when I see the heavies I try hard to not change the station, it just feels weak to me. TNA if you read this put people like Joe, AJ, Daniels, Sabin, etc as the focus of your card and I guarantee you will see more fans as its the one thing WWE does not do well at all.

On another note I picked up the 2 Disc Best of the X Division and I must say I am glad I bought it. Well worth the price as the matches top to bottom are all a B+ or better. I suggest you all pick it up too.

I wasn't a fan of TNA during it's stint on FSN and even online or on one of the sports networks DirecTV offers when FSN's deal left. I watched a little, but mostly had the TIVO in FF mode. But since they've moved to Spike, it's almost like a totally different product. The special was good...but the ending made me wanna cry like a little baby. You finish of a night with 2 great matches, by Jeff Jarrett and the most tired gimmick on earth, winning back the title from Rhino. When he had been on FSN, Jarrett's matches lasted no longer than 1:30, and that was fine by me.

But, regardless of how I feel about Jarrett, the night was made by the 6 man tag w/ the X Division guys, and the Ultimate X match itself. I hadn't ever actually sit through an Ult. X match before this special, and by just looking at the set up, didn't figure it would be as good as the hype. After seeing the match, I was definitely wrong.

I really hope they succeed, and can't wait to see who else Vince will continue to let go, allowing them to continue to build their roster...and maybe just maybe, never have to sit through another Jarrett title run.

Isn't Lynn head trainer for TNA at their school or whatever they call it?

That's probably for the best; his finisher is really contrived and silly looking. When I first saw it, I thought his opponent was doing a move to him.

Man, I am just crapping all over TNA finishers this week.

He had a brief feud with Sean Waltman a couple of months ago and wrestled a couple of matches, but I think he's been spending most of his time in TNA's front office. Plus I think he's been having problems with either his neck or his back, I can't remember which.

OK. Now that I've stopped laughing (because I've been in a lousy mood all day and that moment of wrestling Zen struck me as funny), could somebody cough up an honest to God answer to that one?

The rumor is that Raven was supposed to feud with Kevin Nash after Bound For Glory. However, I think its pretty pathetic that they didn't have a match for Raven at Bound For Glory, and now Genesis. Raven hasn't had a match in TNA since Unbreakable, and I think that's hella lame.

Take Genesis for instance, for whatever reason, Jeff Hardy is in the #1 contenders match vs. Monty Brown. Jeff Hardy has yet to win a singles match in TNA in like 7 months. Raven's the world champion and has yet to get a rematch. At Genesis it SHOULD be Raven/Brown.
