Just wondering if Soul Decision's "Ooh It's Kinda Crazy" do well in the States? It got a TON of airplay up in Canada - but I graduated from radio and stopped paying attention from the spring until the present. If it didn't, then I guess you could label them a one hit wonder with Faded, which I *believe* started charting in the States only early this past year.

soulDecision was big with the TRL set for a bit, but now it's a source of MTV "haha can you believe what crap we used to like back in the day? Now groove to this new exciting hit from The Calling!" mocking.

There's nothing wrong with Faded. I believe they lost their creative powers somewhere around Gravity.

I think Unkle Kracker is back with Kid Rock.
So he won't do anything new until they're done touring or whatever.

Uncle Kracker had "Yeah Yeah Yeah" which wasn't near as overplayed as Follow Me, but I'd argue that it counts as a hit.

Now then... when Theme From X-Factor hit the scene and grated on everyone's nerves, it was right there on me. But, on a larf (LARF~!), I downloaded the entire song, and I must say that sadly, I got totally into it, now knowing that it is AWESOME. So GIVE IT A SHOT! There's some cool piano parts towards the end.

Stick and move, can ya feel that?

Hey...found this thread curious and searched my countless pop trivia stuff in my mind and came up with a few...

Five for Fighting - Superman
Michelle Branch - Everywhere
Bubba Sparks - Ugly
Edit:**couple more i thought off**
Puddle of Mudd - Control
Blu Cantrell - Hit Em' Up

Alhoutgh a big hit in Europe...unless Craig David "Seven Days" gets more airplay, he will become a one hit wonder with "Fill Me In"

A couple of maybes with Fuel which i really like but "Hemmorage" was their only hit...I wouldn't consider "Bad Day" a big airplay hit, nor "Bittersweet".
I have a feelin Linkin Park, Alicia Keyes, Sum 41 and Nelly Furtado will also be in this category when we look back in a couple of years.

On to the Shakira thing, she was and still is the premier latin female singer in recent history...so its sad to see her go pop for Laundry Service, when in her two spanish albums she was more rocking and alanis morsettish in her lyrics. If you can get the Unplugged Album, even if you don't understand spanish to see a very different shakira. Although i really like how she is shaking her bootie on her videos...hehe...Later.

I wouldn't count Fuel because they had "Sunburn" and "Glimmer" off of their album (Sunburn) before the one with "Bad Day" and "Hemmorhage" (Something Like Human)

"As she fell face down into the black muck of the mud-wrestling pit, her sweaty, 300-pound opponent muttering soft curses in Latin on top of her, Sister Marie thought, "There is no doubt about it; the Pope has betrayed me."

Nelly Furtado's second single, along with Alicia Keys' post-Fallin effort, haven't really been anywhere except MTV, seems like, so yeah.

Sum 41 is iffy, but In Too Deep gets a lot of airplay around here.

I don't think that Everyone's Favorite Boy Band can be considered a one hit wonder, because Crawling was huge, as is In The End.

True..i completly forgot about that album, Glimmer was one of those "hey-who-the-hell-sang-that-tune" kind of song. I really dig Something Like Human by the way...

Boy, that "7 Days" video was ALL THAT on MTV2 for a looooooooong time, though - in fact, it got a nomination for the MTV2 award at the VMAs - losing to (ugh) Mudvayne.

Craig David was like one of my big FINDS of 2001 - strange, considering how far I've personally strayed from R&B in what I listen to and learn about.

Couple of more 2001 one hit wonders i just thought of...
D12-Purple Hills (thanks Eminem)
Jagged Edge-Where The Party At (thanks nelly...what the hell is up with that stupid Band Aid below his eye..my god)

I wish I could agree that these guys are only going to be around for one album. I was really into "In The End" when it came out, got tired of it, THEN I had the misfortune of SEEING them in their little Futuristic Fairy Paradise video. I think there's a sad, sad chance that they'll be bringing in a whole new audience (insert Hardy shirts off SQUEAL here) to the rock scene, whatever THAT is these days.

And yeah, that blonde fucker does just scream "BEAT ME IN THE FACE, PLEASE."

Bubba Sparxx may have another "hit" on his hands with his new single "Lovely."

I doubt Alicia Keys will be written off as a one-hit wonder. "A Woman's Worth" was released towards the end of the year. It's getting massive airplay and it's in heavy video rotation now. Sure, it may not be as huge as "Fallin'" cause that's the song that made her career. Before "Fallin'" was released she put out "Girlfriend" and that song got no love from DJs.

"Craig David was like one of my big FINDS of 2001 - strange, considering how far I've personally strayed from R&B in what I listen to and learn about."

So have you heard or listened to:

Musiq Soulchild (awesome Cd)
Jill Scott
Angie Stone
Maxwell
India.Arie
D'Angelo

Kay - one cool chica.

I wouldn't throw them in the category, just because the group is basically Eminem and back-up singers.

Angie Stone

We used to spin her track with Guru at CKDJ which is the college radio station I got my diploma at.

They play a ton of underground stuff. It's not my brand of coffee, but if you're into that stuff give it a listen. The jocks are bound to suck though, so be prepared for PLENTY of David Letterman Top 10 lists, and REALLY bad attempts at being funny.

Luckily I managed to discover after about 4 shifts I was not the least bit funny, so I completely cut humor unless I had a KILLER line. Unfortunately most jocks don't ever get the point...

I say:
Linkin Park, a boy band? Tell me you did not just say that! Personally I'm glad to see a rock band that doesn't write lyrics in which every third word is "fuck." Just because a band is popular doesn't make them a "pop band."

As for something on topic, would drowning pool count or was "Sinner" a big enough hit to save them?

I too like Linkin Park. As for one hit wonder, "One Step Closer," "Crawling" "In The End" are all successful singles from one CD, Hybrid Theory. Plus, "Papercut", which I don't think was released on single yet, is pretty good, IMO.

I wasn't sold on Linkin Park and got really, really sick of "Crawling", but I bought the CD with an Amazon Gift Certificate because every time "In the End" came on the radio I found myself cranking it up. It's a good CD, although there are a couple of melodramatic songs I can't relate to. I do think they have something more to offer that some of the bands in the Bizkit oeuvre. That said, I hope they don't turn out to be like 311, in that I listened to "311" endlessly, then bought "Transistor" which turned out to be a steaming pile of doo. "Soundsystem" was pretty good though.

I just heard "Papercut" on the radio for the first time Sunday. It was an excellent choice to be the first song on the album.

Also, I have to totally agree with Crazy Town as the one-hit wonderboys of last year.
